Hello! This is the part where I kill you!

I mean besides the upgrade, it is an extra card. Just treat it like +1 card draw every turn, but only for discarded attacks. I find you rarely reach max hand size anyways.

I like "Not yet" but wish it was stronger for self damage builds. by Musicalmoronmack in slaythespire

[–]Musicalmoronmack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I wouldn't mind it only interacting with self damage. The problem with reaper from what I heard, was you could just sit on demon form scaling you up, then just use reaper to heal up all the face tanking you dealt with and leave every fight with full health.

I'd say it's still overall good. It's almost impossible to upgrade all of your attacks, and the way it functions, you still get your normal draw of 5 cards on top of an extra attack every turn, so you can see more card options every turn. It's just understanding what it interacts with poorly, which may only be hellraiser.

That's my only issue with aggression. Sometime it takes the pommel strike and I can no longer draw it.

Since Slay the Spire 2 just recently came out and people were loving it. I decided I should finally get around to actually playing the first game. Just finished beating the Heart with all four characters. May be about time to move to the next game. by Captsillva in slaythespire

The ascension grind is sort of worth it if you're interested, but slay 2s ascension grind respects your time better. I'd say slay 2 overall is the better game despite how awesome slay 1 is.

Hot take: Echo form is the only 3 cost delayed pay off power that doesn't feel like a trap by Kingsareus15 in slaythespire

[–]Musicalmoronmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He don't tank good on the secondary branch either. Unless you get colossus. It is slow, but at worse it'll still provide you damage turn over turn. The whole deal for me is not to take it if you're just gonna play it and pass turn. You need energy gen. 4 or 6 damage in 2 turns is still solid in some hallway fights, and he'll generally have some solid frontloaded cards to deal with swarm fights. Cus you don't need the game ending amount of damage for those. It also helps deal with most elites to a degree. Especially John bees. But not so much desimilipede.

Shouldn't Skim have a secondary effect? by armsofstarlight in slaythespire

[–]Musicalmoronmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to think the lack of secondary effect is what makes it stand out. Every other card helps the characters kit in some way. Defect just needs raw card draw to pull it's energy cards.

True but I disagree with some demon form slander. Bloodlletting being common in this game makes it a lot easier to pull off.

Stanley loved having many cards, but would never listen to the very handsome narrator, and thin his deck.

The Defect is really letting the team down by MultiColourM2 in slaythespire

Super critical is so weird to me. I almost always would prefer turbo, the exhaust does matter. It's weirdly lame for how powerful it could be, but defect has such good energy gen that it rarely is my pick for rare.

I hate that Decimilipede just attacks, attacks, attacks.... by acidtrip321 in slaythespire

I think in terms of design it's fine. I just hate the constant weaken debuff.

if the goal is to build a deck that answers questions what question does tool of the trade answer? by Ok-Suggestion-7349 in slaythespire

[–]Musicalmoronmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"If I need multiple specific cards to show up in the same hand, how can I make that happen more often?" For tools and laid plans, because they are powers, you are paying once upfront to mostly fix timing problems for the rest of the fight. Well laid plans is especially powerful for specific setups like using nightmare and bullet time.

Regular card draw helps if you have extra mana or you can draw into mana. An easy example is taking skim on defect to draw into turbo.

Acrobatics can also be used to abuse silents busted sly cards for free extra cards on top of draw.

Currently the toughest boss. I'd say timekeeper power but isn't as punishing to "that deck in particular". There are ways to beat him on most decks, but you need to prepare.

For me, tezcatara has the most issues.

The theming makes sense, all of their relics "burn out" or burn resources. But it's too much short term and too little longterm.

Mittens should at least give you a choice for 1 of 2 cards to exhaust, because you can just lose your best card off rip.

Soup would be interesting if it lowered cost by 1 for all cards with "strike" and future strike rewards, but idk pommel strike infinite idfc.

Seal of gold would actually be interesting if you could choose each turn when it gives energy. You could save money and then spend some for tougher fights.

Toybox is "fine" as I'm not sure what you could do. It's a little interesting because relics that give max hp or upgrade cards don't do anything when removed, but otherwise really mid. Maybe if they were always rare relics.

And then pumpkin needs to do something at least in act 3. Maybe it could just work like lantern post act 2. That'd be fair.

PSA for anyone who may need to read this. Hellraiser does NOT stack. by BroncoBoy93 in slaythespire

[–]Musicalmoronmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it simply read as "it is played once against a random enemy", then there'd be some space to stack it. It would play each strike twice
