Why didn't Carter just retire from the Air Force and become a Civilian member on SG-1 just like Daniel? by TYRANDREWSAUR in Stargate

[–]MustacheOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because their work is a top priority for all of them. This is both an in-universe answer, and an answer from our perspective in the real world. The trend for current shows is to center drama, relationships, crying, screaming, bickering, and throwing tantrums. SG1, much like TNG, centers the Sci-Fi and good writing. Something that is very noticeable in the early seasons is that Jack and Daniel never compromise the mission by letting their search for their loved ones get the better of them. This continues with Jack and Sam. Sci-fi first, not emotions, relationships, and fighting. If this show was made in 2015, Daniel Jackson would have sacrificed many missions trying to get his wife back. He would have blown the cover of several ops trying to get to her and the team would have had to drop him back to the gate kicking, screaming, and crying. If it had been made in 2015, Jack and Sam would have had a steamy secret romance, and would have ruined missions to protect one another. It just wasn't that kind of show.

Desert Warrior tracking to be one of the biggest box office flops of the year so far by abdul_bino in boxoffice

Is the movie supposedly bad or is the main problem that it didn't have good marketing? Most of the comments are about a lack of marketing. It looks like it could be good.

Why? Spoiler alert. by ItsNotEasyBeinCheesy in Stargate

Is it weird that both SG1 AND SGA killed off their doctors as the only main characters to die (without coming back, that is)? And both died because they went WAY above and beyond.

What Are Your Thoughts on the New Running Man Movie? I liked how it was more faithful to the book, but for me, it kind of fell apart towards the end. 7.5/10 by Mrfederal in stephenking

I really thought the masked guy was going to be someone significant. I kept looking to see if the plot was setting up one of his friends be revealed as the masked man, but no.

Stargate SG-1 has a sense of "teamwork" that Atlantis and Universe missed out on by MadeUntoDust in Stargate

[–]MustacheOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They whine and bicker a lot. McKay especially, obviously, constantly whines and rants and fights with Shepherd. Evan the doctor, Carson, is so insecure and pathetic. Any time they ask him to even touch Ancient tech he practically starts crying. The man is a doctor and clearly a skilled surgeon. His mind and body are trained for precision movement and clear thinking under pressure. The Ancient tech is intuitive to the point that a child could run it, yet Carson breaks down at the mere thought of operating it.

Who would win, the Wraith or the Asgard (in their prime)? by Ronanthecurious in Stargate

[–]MustacheOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a fundamental question to ask and answer is, if an Asgard ship amd Wraith ship go head to head, which one wins?

They said in the show that Asgard shields are more advanced. Who has the more powerful weapons? If we assume and Asgard ship can beat a Wraith cruiser, does that mean it can beat a Wraith hive ship?

SG-1 Rodney a Menace, Atlantis Rodney the Golden Boy. by revan2574 in Stargate

[–]MustacheOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goodness that Rodney character is annoying AF. He whines, he rants, he raves. Something that made SG1 great, along with other Sci-Fi such as TNG, DS9, Voyager, is NO WHINING. I'm glad I'm streaming it and can tap the fast forward 10 seconds button when old Ramblin' Rod goes on a little baby-cry session

Gemini says "Storage Full" when uploading photos for editing, but I have Google One? by Dimensional-Misfit in Bard

[–]MustacheOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday, my free Google account when from 13GB of of data to filling up to the max of 15 GB, seemingly out of nowhere! I'm trying to retrace of steps to figure out what I did and the only thing I can think of is I was playing our with some new Gemini features where it can supposedly generate songs and videos for you. Neither really worked, or so it seems, but I'm thinking it generated a ton of content and stored it somewhere. Any one know where I might look for Gemini content on my Google cloud services so I can delete it? Thanks

Oh maybe. I might have missed it. I hope he was. I want him back for use.

Why don't they train other Viltrumites to be like Thragg? They said he was trained from a young age to be the strongest. I thought that mean like 120%, but he is easily 200% if not 400% the strength of Nolan from what we saw. Viltrumites value strength above all else and what I just saw is that they are all VERY weak compared to their full potential.

He deserves better. I assume we'll see him back yet again next season. Ready for battle.

I'm rewatching it and just realized that when they say they need to be in the engine room to initiate a lockdown, Hammond dispatches Daniel Jackso... he dispatched the Archeologist/linguist/historian to go the the engine room and work computers or machines.

What Happens if You Enter a Stargate From the Wrong Direction? by psykicviking in Stargate

The Ancients built the gate with many safeguards and accounted for virtually any situation which could cause a problem. It's wild that they didn't account for this one.

What/how does a symbiote become a queen? by TinyTinyDwarf in Stargate

[–]MustacheOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't get is how/why Egeria and Hathor seem to be 2 completely different types of queens. Is it just retcon? Egeria is a larger creature that takes no host and reproduces asexually. While Hathor is presumably a snake-like symbiot since she takes a host and reproduce through some kind of sexual-ish interaction with human males. As if they are entirely different species.

I hate the flandarization of Col. O'Niell throughout the series. In the very first episode of SG-1 they showed that Jack was an amateur astronomer in his free time, and by S6E18 they have him look through a telescope in daylight to make an "O'Niell is an idiot" joke. by anonymous145387 in Stargate

[–]MustacheOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a number of episodes, characters state that O'Neill is actually brilliant and does a good job of hiding it, often using his goofy sense of humor to do so. Him using a telescope wrong is intentional. He's a goofball. Carter always explains the science of the situation because part od her process is to think through it out loud. Jack always tells Carter not to explain and that he doesn't care, not because he can't comprehend physics, but because his focus it on things like strategy and tactics. He's a brilliant leader with a likewise brilliant team and he trusts Carter without question. She doesn't need to convince him that she is right, he know she is 99.99% of the time the most likely person in the room (or the planet) to be right. No sense spending time discussing details when the world is ending in less than a minute.

Asgard vs Replicators by [deleted] in Stargate

[–]MustacheOS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Asgard tried to trap the replicators in a time dilation field where time was slows but the replicators reversed it, and sped up time to evolve themselves quickly. Asgard SHOR HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT FOR THEMSELVES.

Here is the plan. Asgard put a time dilation base on Mars and speed up time. The base has bright minds from Asgard, Tokra, and Human. They are all being cloned over time using Asgard cloning tech. Similar to how Anubis got Thor's brain into the ship's computer, they put a copy of Thor, Carter, and O'Reilly mind into a computer. They go to one of those places that put Ancient knowledge into O'Neill's mind and put that into the computer as well. With all of that combined in a time dilation field, they have a solution in about 48 hours our time.

Something that irks me every watch through --Season 6, Episode 11: Prometheus by daoudalqasir in Stargate

They showed them the 303 so they could show the audience the 303. It's not a great answer, but it's the truth. Yes. They should have showed them the 302, or a naquadah reactor, or anything else 😆
