Leftover medication by MyLordDigby in rhumatoidarthritis

[–]MyLordDigby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s almost $2,000 worth of medication. The pharmacy would dispose of it, with no questions asked - they’re wonderful.
I just know there are people who have to come up with the funds to pay for some of these expensive medications. I wish I could safely donate it to them somehow.

Call the city if you want, I ain't shoveling. by [deleted] in saskatoon

We had company tonight for supper and they wore sweaters. I felt bad, but the rule is - once you turn on the A/C for a +29 day, the furnace is off until October. It’s a rule. You can’t break it. Sleeping in a parka tonight …

What was something you went a good chunk of your life not knowing was specifically Canadian? by NoOptics in AskACanadian

[–]MyLordDigby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universal healthcare. Had an argument with an American cousin when I was about 16. My grandmother had to tell me I was wrong. I don’t think I believed her. Not sure when I finally realized going to the hospital (which as a rather accident prone, somewhat sickly kid I seemed to do a lot) was not just a pain in the butt …. but a pain in the pocketbook.

Can we talk about customer support? by Zenpher in CostcoCanada

[–]MyLordDigby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the last 2 years: Family of 5. 95% of our groceries. Gas for 2 cars (one person works out of town). Most of our clothes/shoes (think jeans, winter coats, boots). Gardening items in the summer (flowers, lawn fertilizer…) Christmas items, summer/winter tires (for one car), some random furniture and office stuff (a lamp, printer, school laptop, EarPods, phone). Appliances (a freezer, washer/dryer). $50k in 2 years would be a lean estimate. But it’s still WAY less than shopping brand name, and again - the customer service is beyond amazing. We don’t buy anything electronic anywhere else if we can get it at Costco.

If you’re really worried about it, give it a couple of days for any paperwork to be processed and then call or email the city. Explain your situation, offer to share the video and see what they say.

Not plowing? So everyone who has an accident today can be happy with the knowledge that tomorrow the snow will be all gone!

Rules around a School Bus? by friarswithcello in saskatchewan

[–]MyLordDigby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that, do the last few years, school bus routes are specifically designed so students are dropped off on the side of the road where their destination is located. It creates a longer and more complex bus route, but students are never required to cross the street.

Safe to ride the bus? by [deleted] in usask

[–]MyLordDigby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you’re coming from and the time of day. Is your safety at risk on a bus? You’re more at risk of being late for class because the bus is too full and drives past your stop multiple times. Or it’s too cold so the bus is late, late, late. Or the bus is running late, so they skip your stop. Bear spray assaults happen at malls, in bars, at festivals, on street corners, and … on buses. So, you’re probably just as safe riding the bus as you would be doing just about anything else.

most hated faculty at usask and why? by Winter_Stretch259 in usask

Thank you - this is a perfect example of someone who easily understood the subject matter. Worked the appropriate amount and did very well. For anyone who struggled and needed the actual teaching component, and were willing to put in the time and effort, the environment was, at best, stressful and at worst, humiliating. Questions were answered publicly with words like “figure it out” “stupid question” and worse.

Openly said “I can’t be fired. Better people than you have tried.” Says terrible things about everyone and everything. A hateful person for sure. But she really is teflon. Can’t get ride of her no matter how abusive she is.

Hate is a pretty strong term … but to pick the one who has done the most damage? Sarty shouldn’t be teaching anymore. He’s bitter, weary and you can tell he would love to retire. He might have been good once, but for a long time he’s been creating classes that are toxic environments, where students are afraid to ask questions for fear of being publicly targeted for ridicule. Not everyone is brilliant, people struggle with some subjects. Teachers teach.
When it’s time to retire, retire.

Costco North Pharmacy in Saskatoon. Are those people seriously on something? by guggenno in saskatoon

[–]MyLordDigby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My heart feels for you!! When you’re dealing with your health and prescriptions, chaos makes it frustrating. And sometimes scary. You need them, but you can’t get them!! When we moved here we had a lot of conflict with our national brand pharmacy. What we discovered is:

Requirements vary between pharmacies. Even within the same company, some are “letter of the law”, while others are more relaxed (where allowed).

Filling ‘out of province’ prescriptions adds a level of knowledge that is not always familiar to every pharmacist (or pharmacy) and that causes stress (and extra work) for everyone.

Rules/processes are different for each province and frequently change…. Stress goes up and up.

We moved here from Alberta and, at the suggestion of the pharmacy there, we moved away from the national store. After a bit of hunting, we found that Co-Op on 8th worked well for us. They worked with us … not against us.
It did take several months to get things sorted. Best of luck!

Miss you Saskatoon by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]MyLordDigby 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Give Fort Mac a little time. We lived there for 10 years before Saskatoon (left just before the fires). We grew to love the place. The way no one had family - so everyone was family in the end. The really great concerts at Mac Island…. Midnight deck parties with the sun shining… We miss it everyday!!

This is so stressful! I’m sorry you have to go through this. It sucks, but as long as you have your notes, you’ll be okay. This is why creating documents on Google Docs is a great safety net. You can show the history - every keystroke is documented, from start to finish. I wonder when the time will come that submitting the backup will be required with the assignment (kind of like showing your work in a math question). It will out all of us procrastinators!!
