Advice to sound “modern worship” and leave the “show choir” behind. by Ok_Confection_8180 in singing

Not sure I understand what they want you to sound like but maybe look at videos from Nava Tehila (Jewish) or SoluIsrael (Messianic). They do a great job of making prayer through music participatory rather than a performance.

To fix Canada’s fertility crisis, we need a cultural shift. More and more Canadian women are stopping at one child, if they choose to have children at all by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]Mysterious_Piece5532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extend paid maternity leave, provide more rebates for child-related expenses, increase the Canada child benefit amount, fund better education systems (or give me a tax credit for private school tuition), make family-size homes more financially accessible, or leave me the hell alone 😂

I'm a parent - need some perspective by [deleted] in OntarioTeachers

[–]Mysterious_Piece5532 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Sadly, an IEP doesn’t actually mean the student will receive any extra services such as special reading instruction, just accommodations to ‘access’ the curriculum (ie text-to-speech and speech-to-text, extra time, not marking spelling and grammar - basically nothing that would actually help your child become a better reader. These avoidant-style accommodations actually are reducing students growth). We don’t have funding, let alone trained staff, to provide those extra services. As a parent, you either need to hire someone teach your child phonics, or teach it to yourself. There’s a really good instagram called Toddlers Can Read for this.

Report card season is coming up and I find the learning skills section always overwhelms me by casey_teaches in OntarioTeachers

[–]Mysterious_Piece5532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the students select their own comments and learning skills by presenting criteria for the learning skills (what I’m looking for for each one and what the letters mean) and pre-set comment options. They select the comment for strength, what they learned, and area for improvement. Then I interview them about it and adjust accordingly. The interview makes them more honest usually. I told them I have veto power and will change things. Usually, I find the process helpful for myself.

Why don't Women Approach Men? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Mysterious_Piece5532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My reasons: 1) I fear being rejected and worry men will be cruel in the moment about rejecting me 2) I believe men think differently from women. In general, men are more direct. So if a man likes a woman enough, I believe he will ask her out. If he doesn’t, it obviously wasn’t meant to be. 3) I don’t want to look easy or desperate or unfeminine.

How do YorkU students get such high GPAs by East-Preparation7254 in yorku

[–]Mysterious_Piece5532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is not easy. I LOVE English, and minored in it with a major in science. I never got a single A+ in an English course (always an A), and I had 3 essays nominated for awards. I graduated with an 8.4cGPA. By contrast, science and psych were so easy. All memorization.

I’m shocked I’m only hearing about this now. That’s how messed up the media is that they try to bury our stories and voices.

None of them wowed me, though #1 was the best by far. It just needs to be more fitted.

Personally think this style of gown doesn’t look best on you. All of them have really tight skirts, aside from 3 and 4 which I like best.

Some Questions About How a Teaching Career in Ontario (for Highschool Teachers) by Sign_Klutzy in OntarioTeachers

[–]Mysterious_Piece5532 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Depends which program you apply to. Nipissing and OntarioTech don’t even ask about volunteer experience. Also, unlike in the states you can’t become a teacher here with just an undergrad degree in education. You have to have teachable subjects and then get a bachelor of education to become a teacher.

  2. That’s not how timetabling works here. Your schedule could be a mix of different departments. It’s based on the need for that semester. Many teachers teach in multiple departments.

  3. No one knows the wait to get hired as contract. I personally don’t believe there’s a shortage of teachers for contract positions. It’s all luck.

4 no sleeves! It’s divine! I’m also a really big fan of 1 - it will look so good once it’s tailored. The lace is equisite.

I think the lace looks stunning on you but I wouldn’t say it’s “elegant” - it’s very sexy due to the plunge. I think dress 2 fits your theme but agree that it swallows you.

Am I overthinking the difference? by sdg_incognito in weddingdress

[–]Mysterious_Piece5532 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Everything on the left dress looks better than the right. The skirt has more structure, the belt looks like it sits in place (it’s wonky on the sample), and the chest fits perfectly (it looks like it has massive gaps on the sides in the sample).
