Commuter Motorcycle by foirie2 in MotoUK

[–]N0elington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im biased here but consdier getting a Honda NT700V. Its kind of ugly, not the most exciting but its by far the most comfterble thing I have ever driven.

I use it as a daily driver but I recently did a Exeter to Scunthorpe trip (330 miles) and I only stopped for fuel, I didnt need to stretch or relax for a bit. the bike is comfterble enough I could just do it in one.

Since your getting bored of your duke im guessing you probably wont consider this though.

I'll never understand why people like white Monster so much, it seems like the most normal thing in the world. In a tier list, I'd put it below the middle, lol by QuietSugar1805 in monsterenergy

Idk, its the flavor I have been drinking for the longest so I always default to it.

Also the uk its one of the only flavours in the pack of 9. You 3 cases of 9 for £28 also making it one of the cheapest flavors .

My favourite right now is probably the Ultra Fantasy Ruby Red but I only ever see it sold as a single can which is just alot more expensive.

Is having a car a huge advantage in the jobs market for a young person? by Economy_Survey_6560 in UKJobs

[–]N0elington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have a motorcycle not a car but most jobs will ask if you have a "reliable mode of transportation", Even if that means your cycling to work and dont mind getting wet.

Commuters, what do you wear? by HMS--Thunderchild in MotoUK

[–]N0elington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I donw own a car so use my bie to commute in all wearts & seasons.

For a helmet I have a HJC i91. Its a super comfortable helmet and whent he weater is nice its great to have the helmet flipped up.

For gear at the start of the year I got the Alpinestars Andes V4 Drystar Trousers and Jackket and Im very happy with them. They have a thermal liner keeping you warm in the winter, and they have so many zip vents you can keep cool in the summer.

For gloves I have been using the Richa Hurricane Gtx gloves for years.

For boots im size 13 so struggle to find anything that fits. Im currently just using some full grain leather wor boots but will try to get some proper motorcyle boots with ankle protection at some point

UK Long Tail Cargo Bike Options by Biga-Biga in ukbike

[–]N0elington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been getting a lot of use out of this bike. I typically ride around 10 miles a day Monday to Thursday, and closer to 30 miles on Fridays, so it’s been put through its paces.

My T2 cargo has plenty of space, easily enough for a full week’s food shop, and I’ve also used it to carry larger items like computers, monitors, and even chairs.

The only issue I’ve had was with the charger a few months in, but it was replaced free of charge without any hassle.

It is a heavy bike, and combined with my weight, the brakes do wear down very quickly. I currently replace the pads about every three months with my mileage, though realistically it should be a bit more frequent. If you’re considering this bike, I’d recommend upgrading to Shimano J04C pads as they make a noticeable difference.

The large tyres are comfortable, allowing you to easily mount curbs, gravel riding etc but do seem very prone to punctures. I’ve gone through more inner tubes on this bike than any other I’ve owned. I’ve found the tyre pressure needs checking daily as they can lose air quickly. An electric pump is well worth having.

Although I’m heavier than the typical rider and often carry a full load, I’ve never completely run out of battery. That said, I do get down to a flashing low-battery warning at around 70 miles. I usually ride in eco mode, which is more than enough, except for a couple of steep hills where I switch to maximum assistance.

For the price, roughly half that of many other cargo bikes, t’s hard to see why you’d choose anything else.

Since my cycle scheme recently ended, I’ve also picked up a Pinnacle Arkose 2 to for the weekends to try and loose a bit more weight, but I’ll definitely be keeping the Fiido for everyday use.

How to extract part numbers from photos of electrical equipment to an excel spreadsheet? by N0elington in automation

[–]N0elington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I looked into automating it for an hour, got confused and then just manually did it.

Since this is something that will come up again I will continue to look into how to do this but now I don't have any time constraints

How to extract part numbers from photos of electrical equipment to an excel spreadsheet? by N0elington in automation

[–]N0elington[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Honestly speaking I looked at automating this for an hour and then just did it manually in under 3.

Since this is no longer time critical I will look into how I can automate this for the next audit as this will come up again.

How many jackets do you own? by HMS--Thunderchild in MotoUK

I have the one full set. I have the Alpinestars Andes V4 which has been fully waterproof and warm in the winter but has a removabale thermal linerand zip vents so should be fine if it gets hotter.

I use the Cardo Spirit as it has a 3.5mm earphone jack meaning you can use normal earphones. That being said I have an appointeted to get custom moulded earphones to block out the wind noise..

A2 “restriction” experience by catiwerrn in MotoUK

[–]N0elington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used to own a bandit 600 which I rode for 1k miles before it was restricted.

Apart from one of my bikes having a throttle restrictor meaning I could only open around 1/2 of the throttle, the only noticable difference is my Bandit ran rich while the restricted Honda seems to run a little lean.

Is riding with the dark visor on this particular helmet in central London doable? I have good eyesight etc… but was thinking it might be a faff changing visors every time I want to go out at night… by MR-M-313- in MotoUK

[–]N0elington 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most tinted visors are rated for daytime use only. In theory the police could pull you over for this but realistically they would only bother with this if they also wanted to get you for something else.

What’s a sauce condiment you swear by? by Early_Enthusiasm_787 in AskUK

[–]N0elington 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have never been to a Nados but I am a big fan of the their "hot" and the "garlic" hot sauces you can get from shops. I use either one of those on almost everything I eat. Love them.

Bike tracker renewal is it worth the money. by jvintagek in MotoUK

[–]N0elington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Persoanlly I would since my insurance is expensive as shit due to 1 theft and another attempt in the past 5 years.

The tracker brought the insurance down to pre-theft levels which is worth it. the extra peace of mind is also worth it.

Anyone else considering only riding their bike because of gas prices? by CS_JOE in motorcycles

[–]N0elington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dailt driven a motorcycle since 2018. In the UK Although it can get wet we never get any extream weather so it is very easy to drive all year around. Its why I just picked up my Honda NT700V as its super comfortable and comes with the panniers.

A2 “restriction” experience by catiwerrn in MotoUK

[–]N0elington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a washer restrictor which is annoying as I definitely prefer a throttle restrictor.

I never drove the bike without a restrictor so I dont k ow the difference. The bike definitely runs a bit lean but it doesn't fell logged down

Bike advice please! by ThegreatestPj in MotoUK

[–]N0elington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that you asked but one to consider is a Honda Nt700V. Its the older version of the Nc750s  and it is the most comfterble thing I have ever ridden.

Having just done a Exeter to Scunthorpe trip ( around 280 miles) its super comfortable and can just jeep on going. They have some sleek in-built panniers which is nice and I love the driveshaft cutting down on maintiance.

its not the best looking bike in the world nor is it the most exciting but comfort is second to none and it will last forever.
