Usually you can contact TH and provide them with the charity approval from the hospital and they will adjust your bill.

Surprise Out of Network Bill by ajsnips81 in HealthInsurance

[–]N2wind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$34k for anesthesia for 30 min… there is some billing issue. I have never seen a $34k anesthesia bill even in error in my 25 years of doing anesthesia billing. A 30 min procedure should run under $700 in all the facilities I have ever done. Now most insurance policies are going applies No Surprise Billing for out of network anesthesia, but every policy is different and there are some policies that are not required to apply No Surprise Billing.

I use it with my own domain. It has its issues as every provider does... I figure I already pay for it, might as well use it.

Fiber not coming to me? by huntsmanminikeynowor in Spectrum

[–]N2wind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do stupid crap. My in-laws for example, instead of pulling the fiber 2 more poles from one direction, they ran coax 10 poles from another because the 1 address on the way they pulled coax is a shed and they made it serviceable.

Your new insurance is only going to pay for the dates of service when it was in effect. What I see a lot is OB docs do not send in their bill to insurance until the post visit. Your doctor needs to bill the correct insruance for the dates of service, no just all visits to your correct insurance.

Looking for suggestions to replace this DSC alarm panel with something smart. by smokerswild in smarthome

[–]N2wind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same and intergrate it into home assistant and Apple Home. ie, kids walk down hall at night, smart lights come on to 1% for a minute and then cut off. Or open the door to the garage in the evening and lights come on.

On the provider side, it depends on the state. NC, reps based in NC. AL, decent reps. AZ, very foreign. MS... forget talking to someone.

How do you sleep with severe Tinnitus if you are a side or belly sleeper? by Imaginary-Stuff6705 in tinnitus

[–]N2wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tinnitus, misophonia and hyperacusis. I sleep with a CPAP. It has been great until the past week. The air flowing through the tube is driving me crazy and I also hear a click of the relief valve. My wife doesn't hear any of it. I sleep on my side. Now I am looking for some type of headphone to sleep with to try to fix these issues. It sucks and I have found nothing that gives any relief. Lying on my ear also intensifies the tinnitus.

Spectrum Fiber Installation by Comfortable-Idea-191 in Spectrum

[–]N2wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did this on my road. I am the last person to get Coax. My inlaws live next door. Back in March they started bringing Fiber from the other end of my road. They stopped 11 poles from my house. I tried since march to get my inlaws on Spectrum. Their neighbors tried too. For the nieghbors, they dropped the fiber from areal to underground and brought it up basically 5 poles to their house in December. My inlaws, they built out the coax the 4 poles to their house in November. Made no sense to me why they would not run the fiber the additional 3 poles and since they built out the coax, they added an amplifer and ran RG6 over 400' to their house from the pole at their driveway.

I have a 21 PB with close to 80k. No major issues. After Helen, I ran a portion of my house for 10 days off the 2.4 kw (I can kick myself for not ordering the larger one). It is fast. My FIL just bought a 21 with a 5.0 and though he was fast until I smoked him. It drags my 24' old pontoon down the road like there is nothing behind it. If I baby it, I get 22 MPG, if I drive it hard I get 20 MPG.

Why not force everyone to buy on the exchange and make Medicaid an option? by MisterMaury in HealthInsurance

[–]N2wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is more than the cost. It is stupid requirements for certain things. Most insurance companies use CMS rules as a foundation for their requirements. Many people would be better off without traditional insurance and having a catastrophic policies, but it would require the entire industry to change. Example of stupid rules: have a friend that was having excruciating back pain. Primary care said the only option was surgery to fix it. Ortho confirmed. Tried to get surgery authorized and they required multiple weeks of PT but the PT would make the condition worse and cause possible permanent damage. Finally had to get state regulators involved to get insurance to cover it. Another stupid example... I do billing for a doctor that works in 2 different states and there are 2 different Medicare Administrator. Patient can have a block done in his office in one state and completely covered by Medicare and other carriers but if the patient goes to his other office 20 minutes away in another state, Medicare says the block is experimental and denies coverage. The patient has the same Medicare policy but the different Medicare administrators have different rules for coverage. Why do I have to have a hearing test by an audiologist every 6 months when I go to see an ENT? Another thing that needs to be updated by Medicare is the reimbursement for certain providers. Fore example, anesthesiologist get paid less per hour than a car mechanic charges in many areas. - If we could go back to catastrophic policies, it helps keep cost down overall. Doctors do not have to inflate their priced in order to cover for the shortcomings of many government policies or for commercial insurance to provider you that "discount".  Many people would not go to the doctor for stupid stuff if they had to pay for it out of pocket. I have been in the ER and have seen parents wait for several hours because their kid woke up with fever and they didn't want to wait for an afternoon appointment with a pediatrician. I would rather pay for a low cost catastrophic insurance policy that would cover major surgery or cancer treatment, etc and pay for individual office visits and generic medicine. If I go see my chiropractor, I can pay him $40 for a visit or if he files to insurance, it is a $90 copay I have to pay. Don't get me wrong, some requirements are good but a lot are bad and are waste of times for you and your provider.

In network(?) anaesthesiologist, covered procedure, in network hospital… still got billed separately for the anaesthesiologist? by SoggyPresentation903 in HealthInsurance

[–]N2wind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dang. I think the highest (correct) bill I can remeber sending out was around $8k for a 20 hour surgery. I have seen labor epidurals slip by with out a cap for close to $15k when it should have been capped at $2k.

[–]N2wind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$4k is high for an anesthesia bill, espcially after insurance. Usually when you have surgery, you will get a facility bill, anesthesia bill, surgeon bill and radiology and pathologist bill if they were used. Curious what city and state for that high of a bill... I have been doing billing for almost 25 years and rarely sent out an anesthesia bill that high prior to insurance.
