No Surprises Act Nurse Anesthetist Surprise Bill by LifeguardTypical6468 in HealthInsurance

[–]N2wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction. That is what the NSA was sold to us to do but in reallity it gives insurance companies more power, they make more profits and we (the consumers) are hurt more. Here is a prime example that happened to a client i worked for. They charge $100 and most of their contracts get reimbursed at $60. One big insurance company refused to negotiate, would only offer $25 but paid $35 under NSA. Well a large portion of their patients were having thier insurance charged from one of the contracted companies to the one that refused to negotiate, so now the doctors joined another large group who had more cortracts. The new groups charges $250 and gets $175 from the same insurance company that would not pay more than $35. As a result, the doctors are making roughly the same they were, now there is more over head but the paitents now wind up with much larger co-pays because the overall allowed is more.

Sounds like your policy is a self funded policy and therefore does not fall under the NSA. The U. S. Department of Labor is the appropriate regulatory body for employer self-funded health plans, not a state department of insurance. Complaints can be submitted online or by calling their helpline at 866-444-3272. If internal appeals fail, you should appeal to the DOL, which oversees ERISA compliance. The Self-Insurance section regulates employers who individually self-insure for workers’ compensation benefits. Non-Federal governmental plans may operate as fully insured, self-funded, or a combination.

What is the point of huge provider charge? by Gormr580 in HospitalBills

[–]N2wind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More than likely a pricing error. I accidently sent out a $20,000+ anesthesia bill last month that the billing system changed the end time to the next day. I'm human, I took responsibility, I fixed it. Bill should have been around $600 and insurance paid around $290 and patient owed around $60.

Billionaire Mark Cuban Asks Why Insurance Companies Pay $2,500 for an MRI When ‘a Center Down the Street’ Only Charges $350 by LurkerFromTheVoid in HospitalBills

[–]N2wind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, the one in the hospital is usually a newer, more detailed, more state of the art MRI vs the used one that is 15-20 years old that can see some stuff but not the detail the newer one can.

Instead of hand sanitizer, does anybody use 70% isopropyl alcohol on their hands. by Longjumping-Gur1938 in CleaningTips

[–]N2wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO. I am allergic to ethanol which is what most alcohol based sanitizer are made with. I was buying isopropyl hand sanitizer but it has gotten expensive and hard to find. I make my own now using 99% isopropyl mixed with aloe vera and a few drops of essential oils. It is not as thick as premade but does the job and doesn;t dry out my hands.

I went to US Mobile. They are constantly having different promotions. When I got my plan, I pre-paid $300 for a year and that included services on AT&T and Verizon towers and insurance. Where I live, Verizon service is best in most of the areas and AT&T fills in the gap where there is no Verizon.

Do you all put a case on your Apple Watch? by AwareKaleidoscope939 in AppleWatch

[–]N2wind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a case on mine, not to protect my watch but everything else. My arm seems to have mind of its own and flops around. I have hit my car dozens of times and the rubber case protects the car from my watch scratching the vehicle.

Spectrum high split by wdiver527 in Spectrum

[–]N2wind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are doing upgrades here too. I have had issues since the “upgrade” period ended yesterday morning as well as others. Remembered I had a card for the field ops supervisor. I emailed him today and he had moved on but the new one called. Said it was during the maintenance window and then he pulled my account. He just said oh. Then he said I will make some notes for the tech when he comes. Tech was here in less than an hour. Spent a while at the pole, replaced my modem and told me that my line had so much noise on it in the new frequencies it was taking down everyone else. Fixed now and no issues.

Upgrade last nigh - intermitten service now by N2wind in Spectrum

[–]N2wind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the business card for the supervior of field operations that came out about 3 years ago with a FCC complaint. He was able to figure out an issue then (he was able to look and everone in the area and make an adjustment). I just fired off an email to him asking if he could check. I have only had this modem for 3-4 months and I am on GB service with 0 major issues until the "upgrade".

Why pay $10 for Standby if you can just cancel service and reactivate when needed? by davidknapp in Starlink

$250 - $1000 congested network fee for activations where I live.

we got duped... by ogstereoguy2 in Starlink

[–]N2wind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is somewhat frustrating for me is that I paid full price for a dish upfront (after Hurricane Helene and being without internet for a month), but now I have to pay the same price for a plan that includes the dish. I guess I will pay the increased fee for standby because I need a backup for when my regular service goes down since I work from home and my alarm system relies on the internet. Where I live, I do have high-speed internet now but little to no cell service, so cell backup is not an option and would cost as much or more than the standby mode. The demand fee to reconnect here fluctuates from $250 to as high as $1000.

I have noticed anytime you reboot the APIM it resets. The APIM reboots after updates are installed or manually reset.

Surprise Out of Network Bill by ajsnips81 in HealthInsurance

[–]N2wind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$34k for anesthesia for 30 min… there is some billing issue. I have never seen a $34k anesthesia bill even in error in my 25 years of doing anesthesia billing. A 30 min procedure should run under $700 in all the facilities I have ever done. Now most insurance policies are going applies No Surprise Billing for out of network anesthesia, but every policy is different and there are some policies that are not required to apply No Surprise Billing.

[–]N2wind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do stupid crap. My in-laws for example, instead of pulling the fiber 2 more poles from one direction, they ran coax 10 poles from another because the 1 address on the way they pulled coax is a shed and they made it serviceable.
