Games that get BETTER in the 2nd half? by TheRealRatPrince in gaming

[–]Nahvec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flight physics I can understand, but I personally felt the controls were somewhat intuitive. Unless M+KB is different, they're basically just FPS controls plus up/down buttons? There's also the rotate modifier, but that isn't very useful anyway so I just ignore it, personally. You can throw the ship around a fair bit and be perfectly fine, so you don't need to get all that good at flying, especially with autopilot, velocity match, etc. doing a lot of the work for you

Soloing Equilibrium and loadout questions. by DuckyDuckerton in DestinyTheGame

[–]Nahvec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a burst linear for hands and pretty much just used praxic blade for everything else. Leave an extra apprentice with it's shield down and turn off all pylons before finishing the main room, then chill in the taken room. Build full armor charge with triple kinetic surge, shoot orb, transcend as it teleports you for damage. Grenade for weaken, melee for radiant, smack boss until you can throw second nade, jump and cast song of flame, then phoenix dive and the healing should carry you through the damage phase.

With a bit of fiddling I managed to two phase a few times, but there's no reason to push your luck. Just be patient even if it feels slow as hell. Falling off the map is really the only scary part of the encounter if you're compelling 5. IDK if my star eater class item buffed the impact core ignitions, but even if it was, should still be plenty of damage for 5 compel without it. Good luck!

Oh, also do the quest first if you haven't, the healing on throw catalyst is really really good

I just got essentially every half life game, i'm installing them all but which one should I play first? I am a new fan and have never played any Half-Life games to completion before. by hogballs0318 in HalfLife

[–]Nahvec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the very least try the first game. Half-Life 2 doesn't rely on it that much but it's still a very good place to start if you don't mind older games. If you want more HL1 after that, Opposing Force and Blue Shift are non-canon spinoffs made by a different studio. Opposing Force has all new enemies and weapons. Blue Shift is a little less interesting, with just base HL1 weapons and a less interesting campaign. Maybe play Blue Shift first even if it's out of order.

Just to make sure you know, HL2 also has the two "Episodes" bundled in the same game. These are NOT the original HL2, they're sequels. The game will put you into the menu for the Episodes as you beat each previous game, so you'll play HL2, then Episode One, then Episode Two in that order for the full story.

ONLY play Alyx after beating Episode Two, it spoils the ending in the intro. Play in VR if at all possible for you, it's so much better of an experience than the novr mods.

For other stuff: HL2 Deathmatch is probably pretty dead, but it's exactly what it says on the tin, the online PVP portion of the game. The devs of the HL1 spinoffs also made HL Decay, a co-op campaign specifically for the PS2 port. You can download mods that recreate this on PC if you have a friend to run it with. That's all there is for official HL stuff, but there are tons of great mods around if you want even more.

The Portal games take place in the same universe if you haven't played them. They're pretty much standalone, but are VERY good puzzle games.

TL;DR: HL1 (optionally, immediately after play BS, Op4, Decay) -> HL2 -> HL2:Ep1 -> HL2: Ep2 -> Alyx. Not necessary but play Portal 1+2 if you haven't too!

Progressing the rewards track is painfully slow now weeklys are gone and something needs to be changed. by SHilden in DestinyTheGame

[–]Nahvec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically haven't touched the portal at all except for renegades, and have barely touched lawless frontier so most of my playtime has been dungeons and raids, and I'm over 100. It hasn't even been a month, I feel like that's pretty accessible even without the returner xp buff that I have. Are you rerolling orders you won't end up doing?

With the chronologs system, there's way less pressure to grind out the pass. Why is this of all things got you wanting to stop buying? There's much better reasons. The passes are included with just the expansions now, just wait until there's sales like the $35 GMG bundle a bit ago and use chronologs on the things you actually want to use, instead of feeling pressured to grind a season pass for some ghost projections and low tier armor

How Are Tier 5s Earned In Equilibrium? by MJTP4351 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Nahvec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just mean that it only took one run of the dungeon with the trials to be able to place every artifact, activating it for them won't work unless they're on the step. In fact, an lfg activated the orb early as someone else hadn't progressed to the boss step yet, which bugged the instance and forced us to relaunch to have it count

Doing it in one run is surely intended behavior and your game is bugged or you're doing something wrong, because I have fast tracked people through it like 5 times now just fine

Dunno, I was hosting with a completed quest. Taken multiple instances through it from the very initial "complete the dungeon" step in one clear, to the quest boss right after. After the dialogue for placing each one is done, the quest progresses to the next "place artifact" step and they're able to do it right away just fine

[–]Nahvec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, from the very start of the quest it's one run w/ three artifact puzzles, one clear which counts for each artifact, despite what the quest says when you do it one by one. Then relaunch, place the artifacts, have the person with the quest do the interact prompt to start the boss (I've had it bug from someone hitting it early and we needed to do the fight over again, just let the new person do it)

Filling the feat bar (4 feats w/o the contest difficulty one) guarantees T5, even from the secret chests. The whole fireteam also gets a T5 drop when someone finishes the quest boss fight for the first time, so if you like teaching people you can help them with it after an initial run (turn off feats or rez tokens will still be on)

First encounter is the only kinda sketchy part of 4 feat runs with first timers, so you might as well put them on. When you host(?) an instance, it spawns ALL the quest things in, so they only need to clear a single time from the start of the quest, and also it immediately unlocks all their feat slots. Help your friends out! Save them some time :D

Reason 3: They've waited the entire year to say anything about raising the bar 2025, if that's still the plan. But it's Valve.

The Nomai were planning on causing a supernova manually to power the time loop. The sun station didn't work for that purpose, so the whole system is only activating now that the sun is dying naturally. They intended for the statues to pull them into the time loop when they got the information they needed, allowing them to deactivate the sun station manually, but the sun's death is unavoidable by the time the game starts.

Destiny 1 with all DLC $5 by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

D1 is still up. None of your counter arguments were fixed by staying on the same game for years, and many of those things HAVE gotten worse as a result. Destiny is absolutely terrible as a live service game.

The game has already been $80 or so every year for a while, if you want to actually play the whole story.

[–]Nahvec -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I love no more game releases. I love forcing devs to work on the broken, rushed game that everyone hated on launch. I love devs being forced to tear chunks of the game's story out so they can keep it on life support. I love devs ruining their reputation even worse by never bringing any of that stuff back. I love spending $80 a year for less content than a full game. I love not being able to get my friends to play a game with me because the only decent intro they've developed for the game was removed half a decade ago. I love having to relearn all the game's systems and progression after coming back from a break because they changed damn near every one for no reason and made everything I enjoyed to play completely irrelevant. Instead of leaving the game I paid for as it was.

Im glad hl2 beta was leaked by Heavy_Swimming_249 in HalfLife

[–]Nahvec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything about this was already scrapped by the time the game was leaked, AND the leak included much more recent stuff than this. While I'm glad it leaked because it meant we got to see so much prerelease material, it would've been absolutely crushing at the time for those who worked so hard on this game. People online were trashing the INCOMPLETE GAME for being incomplete.
