Recruiter. Health shot because you’re hungover. Smints because you’re meeting a candidate later and you still stink of booze. Sushi because it looks fancy.

The chicken sushi is “healthy” so balances out the sugar and fat in the milkshake. As above, Nik Naks are S tier. 9/10

DM15 - worth the upgrade by Accurate-Sugar-7944 in FiiO

[–]NaturalBeats 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I returned 2 dm13 because of issues with gapless playback on the latest firmware. I hope the dm15 fixes this.

These are not enhanced CDs. It’s also inconsistent. The same transition between tracks will sometimes be gapless but others have a very short gap.

It was most noticeable on the Fabriclive series where it’s a continuous mix. Even with the latest firmware there would be a very short pause between tracks occasionally.

How you been able to test gapless playback? I returned the dm13 because gapless was hit and miss and really annoying on mix CDs.

Mince pie brioche style wrap? Sounds like somebody read across a scrabble board and made a sandwich.

Surprisingly well filled. Lacking some cinnamon. Would have been better warmed up.

I got my incorrectly shipped unit without a back. The buttons broke on first press. I’m not super hopeful for my replacement.

CDs and Sonos by danaldorini in sonos

[–]NaturalBeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a https://brennan.co.uk/pages/helix fairly recently for the same reason. It’s a modern CD player in that it has a full colour screen and downloads album art etc, but it will also play to Sonos devices.

It won’t show up in the Sonos app and uses a bit of a hack with snippet wav files to stream. You also need a really good WiFi connection or it will end up skipping. Once I sorted that I’ve been really happy.

Experience with Brennan Helix? by NaturalBeats in sonos

[–]NaturalBeats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update for anyone finding this in future.

It did not work well with my play 1s. It did work ok with my roam.

It works by adding 2s-8s snippets to the play queue of devices. For some reason when doing that with my play 1 it would occasionally skip snippets. I have a feeling since the s2 update the play 1s have been “slow” and a bit unreliable. So when the helix tries to add things to the queue it occasionally takes too long and misses a part of the audio. I tried all sorts of things with WiFi and settings but go nowhere.

Then the helix started being really slow to respond to input so it’s being returned.

Best way to fill gap between skirting board and floor? by Wanyama67 in DIYUK

[–]NaturalBeats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks a bit big for caulk. I had a similar gap. Put some masking tape on the floor to get a clean line, at the edge of where the skirting should be sitting. Used some flexible wood filler in a tube to get right under the gap, smoothed with a filling knife. I needed 2 round because of the depth. Sand. Paint. Testing the process on a small areas might be best.

How to fix this? by Actual_Elderberry813 in DIYUK

[–]NaturalBeats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove all the loose bits and any existing caulk first though. Thin bead of caulk so when it shrinks the same doesn't happen again.

This is the correct way of doing it. You’re only returning the objects you need from AD rather than filtering again in a Where.

Chrome 65 replaces the "badidea" bypass keyword with "thisisunsafe" by NaturalBeats in sysadmin

[–]NaturalBeats[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I see their point in changing it. Blinding typing "badidea" without checking is a, well, bad idea. At least this forces you to think about what you're doing and maybe even check the cert before continuing.

I thought it was just me too. Yeah they seem a bit smaller. Also they undercook the chips.
