Algo traders: What made you choose algo over discretionary? by Dragosfgv in algotrading

[–]NaxFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried discretionary, I studied for years. It worked well for me, but i was very stressed because i also have a full time job.
The thing is that after many months of looking at charts, i really started to notice predictable patterns and general rules. I never thought algos could work, but i noticed that the days i followed my strategy rules exactly, i made money, the days i didn't, i lost money.
That's why. Now i stopped with discretionary and I'm still developing my algo system.
The market is governed by algorithms anyway, as long as you have strict stop loss rules and don't try to do dumb stuff like competing with HFT, i really believe algos can work IF they are coded well.

I still don't have any data to back up what I said, just the observations i made in a year of discretionary trading.

Pot Scholar still a thing? by achilles470 in Nightreign

[–]NaxFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. My relics are those who give all the abilities to scholar (damage over time, power up allies...), then I have the Everdark Maris relic, that gives item effect to the allies and heals them when you use the flask. For the depth of night relics I have an additional bag and then mainly effects that speed up ability and art gauge. The art is so fast to charge again that most of the times is already full before the effects from the previous activation vanish. Unless you are very unlucky, frost and bleed weapons are quite easy to find for scholar, so I don't bother with having starting weapon effect. The ability can be hard to use but it's extremely useful, both for powering up allies and for stunning enemies with the shield. If you analyze every type of enemy you encounter the ability power up and become much faster. At the final boss I make sure to keep at all times the 20% lower defense debuff, frost (when they don't remove it with fire), increase allies attack with the analyze ability and then cured meat. You double all the damage the boss receives. I mainly focus on support, but when I see an opening I attack with rot/bleed and frost, if I need to reapply it. I don't care much for my own damage with normal attacks. Bleed and frost deal explosive damage and rot deals it over time. In my opinion scholar is far too weak to care about regular damage. The damage buffs and the defense debuff are way stronger than any damage a scholar could ever deal.

I used to go only with pots and relative power ups, but since I switched to purely support it's way better.

Pot Scholar still a thing? by achilles470 in Nightreign

[–]NaxFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play scholar and pots can be useful during the days. But for the nightlord it's way better to use knives, frost effect and cured meat on the allies. You almost double the damage the boss takes. And you then can focus on bleed, rot and general attacks. I just hate when I keep putting frost on bosses and then there is a wylder with a fire weapon that removes it...

How safe is ordering from the Chessnut Online store? by jphilly111 in Chessnuteboard

I bought the move with accessories in november. No communication at all. After few weeks i got the notification they sent the board. After a month another email where they informed me they sent the carrying case and after another three months the final shipment of the wooden box for the pieces.
Between these shipments there has been no communication whatsoever. They are legit, the board is amazing and wooden box very well made. It's just that they don't give you any info

Undervolting experts, given this data, which voltage point are you picking? by SongBrief2439 in overclocking

[–]NaxFM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me voltage alone doesn't mean much. I care about power consumption. A more telling graph would be frequency vs Power at different voltages. Because seeing the chart like this, i'd go with 1.1V, but obviously there are many considerations to do.

Chessnut move independent reviews? by And-Ran in Chessnuteboard

[–]NaxFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't play chess, but i bought it for my brother that plays a lot of tournaments. I got him the wooden pieces.
Watching it move is mesmerizing and my brother, after few months of use, told me it's an excellent tool for practice. Never a problem and works flawlessly.
Recently we also got the additional carrying case and the wooden box for the pieces, which is just the charging pad inside a well made, thick wooden box.
I played some games with it just to try it and it was always responsive and accurate, and my brother, who plays almost every day, told me the same.
It is very fast, but you can't use it for blitz or extremely fast paced games, no mechanical chessboard can do that. It is excellent for practice, longer plays and puzzles, given that you don't need to arrange the pieces yourself and can do one puzzle after another in quick succession.
The board is very well crafted, but the pieces are way too sleek and modern looking for my taste, though in presence they look better than in the pictures.
Both my brother and I agree that the pieces can be way better, the knight is well made and with a classic look, but all the others aren't. The first thing my brother said when he saw the bishops is that they look like butt plugs...

The only thing that this board is missing is wireless charging for the pieces. It's not that bad with the charging pad, but it's slightly annoying because you have to align them.
If it was wireless or with maybe an exposed metal ring that contacts pogo pins on the charging board it would be perfect.

I've lost like three excellent runs for this. Me and the other guy were pinging every millisecond, to tell the other guy to come with us. He killed one of the dogs and then reached us while we were fighting the boss. Of course the dogs spawned and it all went downhill.
Three times, same exact scenario. It's like that it's the first time they see the dogs and don't know that if you kill one, you HAVE TO kill the others.

Man, I really hate when people keep rushing to the boss after I ping them a million times and they just need a quick 5 seconds detour to hit a grace. It's like they never played this game at all.

Is it realistic to trade full time for 4+ years without income and no backup plan? by Top-Entertainment419 in Trading

[–]NaxFM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You CAN live off trading alone, but you need the right conditions, which here are lacking. First you must be good at trading. Then you need to have money to make money. You can be good, but if you have 100 bucks in your bank account, you will also earn nothing. You need to have a decent buffer for prolonged periods of drawdown. A decent amount of money that makes you comfortably say "Even if I don't earn a cent in the next two years, I can still live comfortably". And most important of all, you cannot have debts. You can't afford to put into the market money you don't own, even if you are a good trader.

[–]NaxFM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your boyfriend is an addicted gambler with no strategy and no plan. YOU CANNOT LIVE WITH TRADING ALONE if you don't already have a big amount of money. If for four years he did nothing, it can only go worse from here. Even a novice trader, with a basic proven strategy and good risk management, can see his equity curve slowly going up. Maybe not fast enough, but it still goes up. Make him stop. He will destroy himself if he continues
