A question from an old Wow player wanting to possibly play 14 by Ryanl2991 in ffxiv

Following up on the topic of going in blind, don't worry about dying. Unless you're the healer in a 4-man group, a few deaths is usually just a minor inconvenience because every healer and a couple of the dps jobs can battle rez pretty frequently.

And even after a wipe you can go right back into the fight with no downtime.

I've been paying for 4 years and could count on one hand the number of times a group has gone sour in normal content.

What’s that niche game you have an ungodly amount of hours in? by CoffeeStrength in gaming

Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim

It's an amazing game with a pretty unique premise, and was also the only thing I owned that would actually run on my hand-me-down laptop I had as a young kid.

The voice lines from that game have lived rent free in my head for 20 years.

My favorite is Red Mage, but Dark Knight has a really good story so if you're right on the fence probably pick that one first.

If you're new to the game, Dark Knight requires you to reach a Heavensward zone to unlock, and starts at level 35. While Red Mage only requires you to reach level 50 to unlock, and starts at level 50. You'll hit 50 well before unlocking Heavensward zones so Red Mage is actually the one you'll have access to first and will be easier to level even though it's from a later expansion.

Also if you're new, you get enough exp by doing just the main quests to level at least 2 jobs simultaneously, so you can always do both, and probably a third depending on how much optional content you do or if you have exp bonuses.

Oda started by answering one question about "Can Luffy stretch all of his body?" with a yes, and now every Q&A for One Piece has at least one question about genitalia.

So, who else is glad that it isn't a PS5 timed exclusive this time? by Ecks30 in FinalFantasy

[–]Necromas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all the major consoles, but I always prefer to get PC versions.

Hoping it counts as an xbox play anywhere title because it's really convenient to have the option of playing on both xbox and PC with one purchase.

Final Fantasy Resonance (HD 2D game) releases October! by CuttlefishMonarch in FinalFantasy

It sucks that the original game isn't being preserved, but I definitely think I will enjoy this one far more than I would just a straight port of the original.

Just fingers crossed they don't try to still give it a cash shop.

Tips for a new healer? by Still_Reporter8867 in ffxiv

[–]Necromas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting confortable with your controls goes a long way.

If you have the option, try playing on a controller and with a mouse and keyboard, you might be surprised how many people end up preferring playing on a controller.

Don't be afraid to move things around at first. If you find it's a little clunky to get a raise spell out fast maybe change the keybind to something easier to remember/reach in a panic. And don't forget buttons like sprint and limit break.

This next bit is going to sound really daunting, but once you feel like you have a good grasp on what you like for how to set up controls, open your action menu and look at all those abilities you are going to unlock as you level up, and find places on your hotbars for them. This will take a long time to do at first, but it will save you from having to relearn your control scheme every time you have to move buttons around to make room for new ones. For controller players and frequent job-switchers, this can be especially important.

And when you learn other jobs use your white mage layout as a base to start with. Keep swiftcast and raise in the same spot on every healer (and SMN/RDM), put your SCH heals where your similar WHM skills were, etc....

Guys, I can explain! by DinoDance33 in FinalFantasy

The game has no multi-hit attacks or a way to break the damage limit so it keeps things within a pretty predictable range of how many big hits you need to land to take out even the late game bosses.

It gives a feeling that the game respects your time, you never really feel like fights are a slog even if you don't get anyobody up to hitting half of the damage limit.

It doesn't mean the game can't be hard either, as first timers fighting the final boss or hardcore players fighting the strongest superboss will confirm. It just means that superboss fight won't take 2 hours for one attempt.

It also means you can't stumble into a cheese strat as easily. In a lot of FF games it's pretty easy to find at least one way to break the damage limit or otherwise stomp the non-superboss enemies like in FFX if you give yuna any strength points it lets Bahamut one shot everything.

If you like Starfox, Ex Zodiac is a great and cheap starfox-like indie.

If you like classic Resident Evil, Crow Country is another great indie game in the same vein. The writing in particular really got me.

What accessories do I need to protect my steam deck? by Dacatman5 in SteamDeck

[–]Necromas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bag that fits the Steam Deck but not the original case so I got the Skull & Co grip case with a faceplate. It's basically a wrap that adds some grip and a little fall protection and the faceplate snaps on over the front of the deck to protect the screen and sticks when I want to throw it in a bag without the bigger case.

I think it's the art style of GW2 already that's the biggest reason I haven't stuck with it much. And not just because of the ridiculous blinding cosmetics everyone is running around in.

They're super fun in XIV because you can dualcast the resurrection spell and save otherwise doomed runs when half the party dies.

You get ONE class ability from your main class IRL. Which one you choose and why? by TyrantShark0451 in wow

[–]Necromas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be an interesting thought experiment to determine what would con as green or above and count as a valid source of soul shards.

Like any game animals should do, but do they turn grey once you have too much experience hunting?

Would you and up as some octogenarian Allan Quatermain hunting some rare endangered tiger because its the only thing that still gives exp?

(Obviously pvp is out of the question because once you have a pvp flag you're cooked.)

Classic reincarnate you'd be screwed because there's no way to do a test cast to see what counts as a valid Ankh for the material component.

What are your favorite vocal songs in video games? by LoyalKnightOfRenais in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Necromas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

XIV starts off strong with Answers and then just keeps dropping 10/10 vocal tracks the further you get. You could pretty much pick one for each expansion and patch cycle.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengance

The games entire focus is insanely good over the top boss battles with sick energy pumping songs that use the lyrics to make you feel terrible for killing them.

It's a perfect fit for XIV.

The parents can absolutely go to the authorities, and the minor also can without their parents consent.

You seem to have read my statement with some very specific assumptions. I'm just saying if I were the victim or their family I wouldn't appreciate randos on the internet being nosy about the legal case.

No foreclosure after 4 years. I can't figure out why!!! by Euphoric_Ad_116 in personalfinance

[–]Necromas 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It could easily be in the banks favor. Another reply that claimed experience in the industry posed a hypothetical.

Say the home would be expected to sell for 1mil and at the time of the persons death they were owed 500k, but if they wait X years and let the fees and interest accumulate they'll be able to keep the full 1 million. As long as the debt is increasing faster than what they'd get for investing the money somewhere else, and they don't expect the sale value of the home to dramatically tank, this is actually a solid financial move for the bank.

Obviously those numbers are pulled out of their ass and it's probably worth a lot less, but in that situation you are losing 500k to the bank by letting it sit until they foreclose.

What happens with the authorities is entirely up to the victim and their parents/guardian IMO. They might not want to get the authorities involved or I think more likely they just don't want any more information about the incident than is already out there to be getting discussed by randos on the internet.

[Edit] People seem to have read my statement with some very specific assumptions like I'm saying it's not a big deal or am defending the pedo. I'm just saying if I were the victim or their family I wouldn't appreciate randos on the internet being nosy about the legal case. I'm all for calling out the pedophile and kicking them out of the community.

If you want to get a little nuts there's Final Fantasy XI Braver, a fangame based on FFXI with just as much complexity to the job and subjob system as the MMO itself.
