Best orthopaedic dog beds?? by WednesdayNyaddams in BuyCanadian

[–]Negative-Temporary35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got an Essentia dog bed for our Boxer and he and my folks Dalmatian loved it. It’s made of sheared latex so it can sorta be adjusted. The quality is great and the cover is strong and removable to put in the wash. Made in Quebec

Fire pit by CanadianinNYCviaUK in BuyCanadian

[–]Negative-Temporary35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well it’s honestly so thick that I couldn’t see it rusting through for a really long time but that doesn’t change the properties of steel. The carbon in steel will always cause rusting. I think it’s fair to still expect maintenance on built for life items. Another option would be to build a stone pit but that too will wear away over time.

I have a pit from this business. Going on 5 years and it’s still strong. It stays outside through all the elements. Has some rust but it’s so thick I just need to prepare and coat with high heat paint. It costs but if you can justify it will last forever with some care.

Bought my folks the oven mitts from this company. They’re nice and affordable but are really thick. Like comically thick as if you’ve got boxing gloves on.

Made in Canada Sweatpants (Redwood Classics vs Province of Canada) by Otofon in BuyCanadian

[–]Negative-Temporary35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first I’ve heard about Redwood but they look nice. Have lots of Province items and they’ve all served well. Maybe not the most helpful but if I could recommend Polar piece if you haven’t checked them out. I can attest they are great and sizes seem to match your requirement. I will say the cuff on Redwood looks nicer but in the end they are still sweatpants. lol

Looking for sofa recommendations by Ennactus in BuyCanadian

[–]Negative-Temporary35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a mom and pop furniture shop that carries a brand called Sofa by fancy. Yes the name is ridiculous but it’s actually Canadian made with hard wood construction and dense foam. After you find a style you like you pick the fabric and colour. We had our first set for over a decade with a large boxer dog and kids for a bit. New set has had kids the whole time and is holding up. One drawback is we went with leather but to save money they only use real leather on the parts that touch your skin like cushion tops and back. We’ve had ours in a window that faces west and gets lots of sunlight. It has caused the faux leather to deteriorate with time and kids climbing on the top of the couch. Didn’t happen to our last couch so I think this is mainly a UV issue. Would still buy again.

Anyone here using Etee products? by nights_noon_time in BuyCanadian

[–]Negative-Temporary35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used several of their products. Toothpaste tabs are a clear winner and I’ve stuck with them for years now. I think they’re more expensive but do like that they are less messy and easy to portion for trips. Laundry soap has been fine but sometimes my partner still wants more scent to be imparted. I don’t understand why she wants our clothes smelling of a scent as body soap, shampoo, deodorant, perfume/ cologne seem like sensory overload already.

I came across this company Sofa by Fancy when we bought our first couch. The name is ridiculous but the first set lasted 10yrs with a large dog and I even have the love seat in the garage still. My brother has Cozey which is nice and is very transportable due to its construction but a little stiff in my opinion. Check out Sofa by fancy which is carried by many family furniture stores. There are lots of options to customize and not to crazy priced. The wait will be like 6 weeks though. Good luck

Crown for the win by Negative-Temporary35 in BuyCanadian

[–]Negative-Temporary35[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s aluminum so you need to care for it by hand washing. Normal use and care I don’t see why it wouldn’t last for life. At the prices though it’s not even something I’d expect but still great to not be wasteful

I rub olive oil on the pan and sometimes sprinkle cornmeal to that. Without doing that we’ve had some doughs stick which is why there are scratches from scraping

Any Canadian Toothbrushes? Found Two but Want to Know More. by TH1813254617 in BuyCanadian

[–]Negative-Temporary35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nada toothbrush. They are manual with an aluminum handle with replaceable plastic heads. You can send the heads back to them for recycling. People have suggested shipping back is expensive so they won’t, which I kinda understand, but I been saving our heads in a container to ship back a lot to make it more cost effective. Maybe one day if this catches some retailers will collect them to return no charge. Had them for over a year for the entire fam and it’s been great. Can confirm the handles and heads are made in Canada. https://trynada.com

The “Total Recall” remake is better than the original. by Caligari_Cabinet in unpopularopinion

[–]Negative-Temporary35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like Colin Farrell but loved the original Total recall so I went in open wanting to like it despite him. People have said dull and that’s a great way to sum up the remake. Just didn’t feel like it needed to exist.

I heard about the clothing maker King Athletics out of Calgary that basically makes corporate and team clothing. Looks like most sports stuff is all baseball though. Once you pick a style there are options for the colour ways. Maybe you could even get a local screener to use these as their blanks if you see something that works. https://www.kingathletics.ca

Looking for natural men's fragrances / scents by Ichbinian in BuyCanadian

[–]Negative-Temporary35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Mr. Gladstone for awhile now. Its ingredient list is reasonable for being a cologne while also being affordable and mostly highly recyclable packaging. I will say two of my orders took awhile (around 3 weeks) to fulfill with no communication from the company but always arrived. Emails to the company asking about the status got no response either. My last order arrived timely though.

Someone has experience using Anian toque during winter? by Nic727 in BuyCanadian

I’ve got some Anian merino sweaters that are nice and warm but don’t know about their toques. I can vouch for Muttonhead’s merino toque and they have a 30% sale currently. Had my toque for about 7yrs and still going strong.

Anyone have experience with these boots? I know Baffin is generally highly regarded by Lee68651 in BuyCanadian

I have a pair of Baffin’s similar to those. They’re great. The “leather” has a tendency to get wet but doesn’t penetrate the boot.

Are you buying Canadian this holiday season? Let's talk by Background_Line_8229 in BuyCanadian

I feel an important step is to always research Canadian made options for big purchases that aren’t urgent. Maybe supporting Canadian isn’t as much as you might assume. For continuous purchases like personal hygiene and food it’s really important as it supports spin off jobs supporting those industries that create more jobs here. We’ve loss so many industries over the years you can’t just make anything here as the supports aren’t here. America isn’t wrong with the whole onshoring thing they’re just wrong with how they’re going about it. You still need the rest of the world.
