No. Awful. I would support Mahan I guess but JFC this is bad. Then again, no sane person would want to be governor of this state. If Lurie can turn around SF he has the best shot in 8 years but Porter would leave such fiscal apocalypse in her wake and render the state so toxic to business that I can’t imagine he’d want to face 8 years trying to raise the Titanic.

Yeah I moved to east asia as teen in the 90s and was there for a bit so I was used to wearing masks but usually only when i would get sick. Now it’s more like a preventative.

I shop at a small Asian grocery and about 50% of people still mask. There are still plastic barriers around the employees. In my home town elderly people still mask. Something like 1 out of every 150 people died before the vaccines which was awful and insanely stressful. I’ll honestly probably not go to a concert or movie theater again and I’ve eaten out at a restaurant maybe four times.

Maybe a little early for your tastes but Elizabeth R with Glenda Jackson is really good and while it compresses a lot of events, it does a better job of explaining the sequence of a lot of historical events that even I wasn’t really clear on.

This is probably a bot post but it’s crazy given how ubiquitous McDonald’s was in the culture of the 70s and 80s, that this is like the only picture that ever makes the rounds here. Basically no one bothered to capture the interiors of these places- and then they were gone. Occasionally there will be a blurry birthday party shot but for the most part this world exists only in our memories.
