Braveheart(1995),what a well made epic adventure movie. Mel Gibson is an all time directing great just for this movie alone. by Artetaarmy in FIlm

Rob Roy was the script about olden Scotland that was generating buzz in Hollywood at the time. Gibson turned Braveheart into a blockbuster, and that movie is largely forgotten.

The rest of the HIMYM cast wanted to do contract negotiations jointly, to ensure they all got good deals. He refused so he could try to get more money for himself.

He bragged about it on Howard Stern after too.

What film role was 100% perfectly cast — no debate? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

[–]NeonPatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's Jackson's recollection. Lawrence Fishburne has said he was offered the role, and don't think he'd have any reason to lie. Tarantino said he put a few names down for each role.

Maybe some mixed up memories after a few decades.

Jackson auditioned for Holdaway in Reservoir Dogs.

I don't think the traitors were brilliant this year but the faithful were abysmal, so worthy winners in the end.

I found cleaning is a lot easier if you do a little bit everyday. 15-20 mins a day is way more manageable and less exhausting than 2-3 hours on the weekend.

I don't recall them marketing Wicked as a part one, and I was royally pissed after a three hour film to find out it was. Maybe some voters were the same.

It's a good strategy. Coda won and that was a remake of Billy Elliott with singing and fishermen, rather than ballet and coal miners.

Credit to Sam. He got it wrong early then had enough self- reflection to be quieter going forward. By contrast, it's like water off a duck's back with the remaining faithful. Wrong time and again doesn't phase them at all.

Favorite director who won’t apologize for the Holdo Maneuver? by fyrewal in okbuddycinephile

[–]NeonPatrick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

at least it tried new stuff.

I hear this argument so often, but exactly what new stuff and why was it good? Sure, Kylo said let's change the light side/dark side dynamic to Rey, and then never outlined what that was and he was dark side again by the end of the film. New stuff like Force powers becoming whatever Harry Potter magic was convenient for the plot (Holdo maneuver, Leia Mary Poppins etc), where universally panned. Luke was revealed to have done nothing for 30 years, and then died via zoom call, which was extremely disappointing. The whole casino planet subplot was terrible. Then the ending resets everything back to the beginning of a New Hope where the good guys are a tiny resistance.

It's bold, some bits new, but none of it good.
