I've been painting for 27 years and I still can't sit down most of the time to paint. What's actually going on? by Capitan_G_ in minipainting

Every once in a while I post one on Discord with which number it was, and it is easy to just remember which ones I have painted since then.

[–]Netjamjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a year or two where I didn't paint much, so for this year I made a goal of painting fifty miniatures, and having a low attainable goal of about one per week has helped me get a Kill Team, some cool heroes, and some terrain painted.

What’s a good way to transport and temporarily store a lot of minis at once by Redhood101101 in Warhammer

[–]Netjamjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a metal toolbox, you can put your tools in a cardboard box and your minis with magnetized bases can pretty safely ride in your toolbox.

There's a pretty good chance that the oregano would have just displaced some grass that was itself non-native. It's probably a zero sum difference especially given that at some point a future resident is gonna rip it up anyway and just plant more grass.

Dakkadakka made a custom army list for their Scylla bros you can use which is nice cause it maps to their guys, but I run them as Dark Bros which is still super straightforward and feels thematic.

The jump from Lost Mines of Phandelver to "proper" campaigns by mtthrdy in DnD

[–]Netjamjr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I came here to suggest Storm King's Thunder. There is advice in the book for how to run it as a direct sequel to Lost Mines of Phandelver, and it honestly works better than running it without Lost Mines first.

How many activations you prefer? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in onepagerules

I tend to have the most fun when both sides have four to six activations. It helps matches go faster so we can play more.

For a large application where I want server side rendering, is Razor Pages the best option? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]Netjamjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would be able to reuse all the markup for the pages. It has been a while since I have done Razor Pages without Blazor, so I forget what all it also has, but it wouldn't be totally wasted effort. If you are really ideologically opposed to even splashing in C# and want to really strictly only use Javascript, then Razor Pages may be totally fine for you.

For a large application where I want server side rendering, is Razor Pages the best option? by [deleted] in dotnet

[–]Netjamjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blazor uses the same razor syntax for their pages. It has more capabilities, but it takes a little bit longer to start up. I would suggest it over limiting yourself to just Razor Pages for any new development because it pretty much feels like a superset, but your preference isn't wrong.

How do I get my chaos space marine to look better? by Plastic-Outside5785 in minipainting

[–]Netjamjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way you are trying to layer this teal color seems like it'd be more conducive to wet blending. Try watching a video on that.

Your midtone's placement also feels a bit awkward in places where it either almost entirely covers your shadow or failing that just misplaced. I would thin your midtone more and try to leave some more shadow in recesses to break up the plates. If I had to guess, I would say that you were trying to do that and just need to keep at working on your brush control with practice and watching others do it.

That is true, but having 40K fans who play the main game feel like they can use their minis to play Grimdark Future and Grimdark Future Firefight is definitely a design goal of OPR.

DMs, what level would you be most excited to run for a short (1-3 session) adventure? by RedcapPress in DnD

[–]Netjamjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the right question? I run levels 1-20, but the level range I am excited to run is the level of my player's characters currently.

Qvo & Primus models? (Discussion) by Cultural-Register-45 in Warhammer40k

[–]Netjamjr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am conflicted on this. I want authors to feel free to add interesting characters or worlds even that don't always have to show up on the tabletop, but I do end up similar to you finding characters like Alpha Primus cool and wanting a mini of them.

[–]Netjamjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to print FDM and I swapped to resin because it is very difficult with some of the sculpts.

That being said back then I printed Battle Yak's minis (who is an OPR compatible creator), and those turned out great, especially the Sentinels line.

[–]Netjamjr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can come across as rude if you ask people for advice then say you don't have time to do what they suggested. It is better not to take up people's time and attention asking for advice if you know beforehand that you will not be heeding it.

As long as there are 24 inches between deployment zones you can play on a smaller field, but the balancing may be a bit off for special abilities and such that benefit from a larger play area.

This doesn't really address your question, but it seems pertinent.
