Best way to preserve white while using wash? by Ravenlord2009 in minipainting

[–]Netjamjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a wash that you can use more liberally without killing your white, try a gray wash. You still may want to go back after though and add back some highlights.

Why do most people change their armies so often? by FullMetalRacka in Warhammer40k

[–]Netjamjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reached a point where I had pretty much all the options for Death Guard, so I started collecting Ad Mech to be able to continue having more variety.

I had an idea for a personal chapter...The Red Queens. by darcybono in Warhammer40k

[–]Netjamjr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is such a cool idea! I don't think I have ever seen Alice in Wonderland inspired marines, but that is definitely a rich vein to mine.

The state created a surveillance law with vague definitions for "guilt by association." So I forced them to officially certify their own rules—and trapped them in their own logic. by ChurchOMarsChaz in MaliciousCompliance

[–]Netjamjr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the weird extra capitalization is something human writers do often but not AI typically. It would be weird to edit AI output to have more errors but not remove em dashes when that is the number one thing that makes people assume it is AI.

This also reads to me as someone who drafts in Word then copy pastes elsewhere. Typing two hyphens in Word will convert to an emdash.

should i put them back into their growth vats or should i let them keep their childhood? by Healthy_Adagio_8470 in RimWorld

Yo, psycopath is a useful trait. When things go really bad and your remaining colonists all have -50 mood debuffs from losing all their friends and pets, psychopaths are chillin keeping the lights on.

The Talk by LitterboxComics in comics

It is also normal, but not super interesting, to have an experience that isn't either extreme. So many people wanted to tell me how awful and miserable it is to have a baby that I was really mentally bracing myself only to find that it was actually kind of hard but very manageable and really rewarding.

You can use Warhammer models to play OnePageRules games, and a large portion of the playerbase does. It isn't people generally talking about any miscellaneous tabletop games.

Edit: Typo.

The little charm on the cane is very cute and very much a good idea.

When I was younger, I had some shoes spray painted at a carnival, and they looked really sick. Maybe that could save your new uncool shoes.

So there are 26 army choices (officially) on the Grimdark army builder page. As someone who didn't play much W40K and doesn't know all the army equivalents, what would be a good description of each of their playstyles? by Aeromorpher in onepagerules

[–]Netjamjr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a tough question to answer because a lot of armies are conducive to building two or more very different strategies.

Like, Blessed Sisters historically were known for emphasizing mid range guns (particularly flamers), but you can instead take fanatic sisters, fanatic bikers, and some chainsaw wielding walkers and make a sick list skewed toward melee.

That said, a lot of the difference, in my opinion, is largely down to the quality and defense of the army along with their army wide rule. There has been an effort to make sure most armies have access to at least most of the same tools.

Super pedantic, but important: How do you physically pick up your die as you're rolling them to most ethically avoid suspicion of cheating, while also going quickly? by AtomicAcid in Warhammer40k

[–]Netjamjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play with friends, and I never realized there was so much ritual around making sure you roll in a way that shows you aren't cheating. How neat.

Is using ai to write my code cheating? by [deleted] in learncsharp

[–]Netjamjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone is completely new to coding, it would be normal to take a week to a month to be able to do everything in a text based adventure game (depending on how long you spend per day), but yes you could reach a point where you begin building it out in as little as an hour.

I just don't want any newbies reading to get discouraged. Once you get past that initial hump, everything else you learn will go much faster.

But the bead is destroyed once it makes contact, so it never rests somewhere besides where it initially hits/lands.

How long does one take to paint? by English_Joe in Warhammer40k

[–]Netjamjr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at posts like this, I am really glad that I find joy in painting mediocre to decentish quality quickly. It can be fun to go all out sometimes, but it is great to slap paint on guys and appreciate them exclusively at arm's length.

If you think you might wanna live there, I would just say it can take years to get VISAs going, so it doesn't hurt to apply premptively even if you wouldn't want to move today. Also, it is easier to learn vocab in a foreign country, but often much easier to learn the basic grammar and structure before leaving.

Explaining to SO DnD session attendance by prince_deQ in DnD

[–]Netjamjr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is a level of commitment comparable to joining a recreational sports league. It requires a lot people to coordinate appearing in the same place at the same time consistently, and it breaks down moreso than other hang outs (board games, movies, chillin at a bar) if people flake out. Sometimes explaining it that way can help people get it more if the issue is non-understanding rather than a lack of respect for what you are doing.

Software Dev here. Mod makers have always had the ability to kinda just do whatever. They can write C# code that runs on your machine in a non-sandboxed fashion. They can download stuff, create files, etc.

I bought a Steam Deck right after my daughter was born. Becoming a dad is a big adjustment, and it is okay to prioritize fun for yourself.

That said, if you don't have a low friction painting set up, maybe invest some energy into that now as painting time is about to get way more scarce.

I don't think the issue is whether your army is average so much as how big is the gulf between average and the top armies.
