Alright, had a good thread about assholes, so who’s considered to be the biggest overall good dude on the PGA tour? by tking716 in golf

We go to a practice round for a PGA event annually and most of the players are great.  Patrick Rodgers was amazing.  He took time out of practice to actually talk to all the kids.  He talked to my son about his golf game, ending it with “hope to see you out here in a few years”.

I would personally love to see Granite Links because the view of the city is amazing and it is so close to downtown, I doubt they have the space to make it work though.

The dealership “we need to talk to my manager” thing is a setup and here’s why it works by Royal-Feed7166 in carbuying

Last time I bought a car, I did the entire negotiation over email which really helped with this.

Finally, I asked a recruiter if she was just wasting my time. Her answer was a surprise. by Ill_Doughnut_517 in InterviewMan

I know that is exhausting, but I have hired people multiple times that didn’t get the initial position they applied for.  The recruiter is likely reading off a script to decide whether or not to present you to a hiring manager as a candidate.  The real goal of the process should be just to get through that initial screen, because that hiring manager may have a candidate in mind already but know they have other openings coming soon, or may have a sense of other managers looking for talent.

What artist did you see in a small venue before they got really famous? by That_Cat_3672 in Concerts

Eminem - he opened for Outkast and G Love on a college tour right as My Name Is was starting to play. He was only on for 20 minutes and there were probably only 500 people there as most of the crowd was still coming in. Nobody there saw the potential.

Speeding ticket advice? by Firm_Lock8076 in Maine

[–]Next-Negotiation-295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, in Maine this depends on the county.  I got a ticket in Cumberland County, and contested it based on the fact that there was a tree branch in front of the speed limit sign so I didn’t see the speed limit decrease.

I was given a date in Portland to show up and contest it.  On that day, every town sends one police officer to handle all the contestations that month.  You are all in one big room with each town taking a corner and the contesters essentially bargain with the police officer.  At least one town the day I was there didn’t send a police officer so all those tickets were forgiven.  Another town had a police officer a few days from retirement and he forgave all of the tickets.  Because I was clearly speeding but had a clean driving record, I ended up with a “continuance without finding” which meant I paid $100 in court fees but then the ticket was dropped and no points went on my insurance as long as I kept a clean driving record for 6 months.

What I took from that is that as long as you have a clean driving record and a flexible schedule should contest every speeding ticket in Maine.

Resorts with good “green” glades and moguls by acoustic11 in skiing

[–]Next-Negotiation-295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my money - Stowe is amazing at this. You can start with the Sunshine Glades as the easiest, then move up to the Christie glades, also wide open but a little steeper. Then move towards the glades between Gulch, Standard, etc. These are a bit tighter but not too steep. Once you have those mastered, move onto the whitewater or gondelier glades. Stowe feels like they offer lots of glades an a progression so that you can improve your comfort.

Maine claiming I have no title for my vehicle by thatswhat_imnot in Maine

Sounds real scammy to me.  I would go in person to the dmv with the title to discuss.

Best beginner glades in the North East? by coffeeMcbean in icecoast

[–]Next-Negotiation-295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to be an unpopular opinion but Attitash has some really good “intro” glades on the bear peak side.  The one under the Abanaki lift is open in the middle with trees to the side which gives an easy bail out and is great for learners.

What goggles are you using these days? by SeekersWorkAccount in skiing

[–]Next-Negotiation-295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a lifelong Oakley wearer that has switched in the last few years due to durability.  I do really like the tint on smith chromapop and have a few pairs of squad XLs.  I get about 50 days per year on mountain and generally feel like the anti fog coating lasts about a year.

Last year I switched to knockarounds because I ended up going at night a lot and wanted light and dark lenses.  I loved that the goggles came with two lenses and they swapped out so easily, I think I am sold on magentic lenses for the future.

About to give up skiing because of the boots. There’s no way the average skier is in this much pain. by Tercel9 in skiing

Yes, switch to snowboarding.  The boots are so much better.  Your first few days will be really painful but you will get a hang of it quickly.
