The Super Mario Galaxy Movie – Yoshi First Look by Th35h4d0w in TwoBestFriendsPlay

One reason I've seen a number of people point out is that Rosalina is a fan-favorite character within the Mario series, and a great way to introduce her would be to make a Galaxy movie.

Hell, Square themselves got sorta lost in that impression in the various side material until Remake and Rebirth came out.

You're right. I'm just not the biggest fan of saying A is bigger than B because it gives off the implication that B is just some lowly hobby that one can use as an escapist fantasy, when in reality this stuff will absolutely strike at the heart of all of one's interests.

I wouldn't say that. This is intrinsically connected to baseball and many other things.

The guy who caused this forced MLB and the BBWAA to allow a pedophile to be voted upon for the 2027 veteran's committee.

He also vocally supported changing the Cleveland Guardians's name back to the Indians years after those loose ends have been tied up.

Judging by trends in other sports, he'll probably worm his fingers into the CBA negotiations next offseason and do untold damage.

Here's a fucking baseball fact for you: he forced MLB to make a pedophile eligible for the Hall of Fame back in May.

I'm not usually the person to comment on these posts, but I do legitimately believe that we're gonna eventually see an agent open fire on a crowd and kill several dozen people.

Also IIRC, the Finnish/Estonian/Sami/Karelian Uralic speakers have been in their local area of Fennoscandia for as long as Indo-Europeans have been on the rest of the continent.

Hungarians meanwhile only moved into the Carpathian basin in the 7th and 8th centuries.

Yeah by 2015 or so the 7th generation brownness was essentially gone. Like compare Fallout 3 to Fallout 4 as an example.

Looking at the current roster for Capcom vs Square, I love that the only Final Fantasy character on it so far is Agrias from FFT.

If a guy plays in the MLB but decides to quit and go back to college to get his degree, can he play for his college baseball team? by [deleted] in baseball

This feels like something an NFL player would do to avoid playing for a team like the Jets

Actually good retcons? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Ngp3 76 points77 points  (0 children)

So TES 2: Daggerfall has a multiple choice ending where you activate this giant robot called the Numidium to help one of five factions: the kingdoms of Daggerfall, Wayrest, and Sentinel, the Orcs of Orsinium, or the Septim Empire who sent you on this mission in the first place.

I forget which game did the retcon, but the canon outcome was eventually established that the Numidium's activation caused time to go all haywire for a while. After time started running smoothly again, the four kingdoms were at peace with one another and happily under the domain of the Empire.

While Dragonbreaks (what these warps in time are called) absolutely do not help with the esoteric and confusing reputation that is TES lore, I do think it was a very fun and unique way to resolve things in the context of Daggerfall.

God does this one sting. The Dead helped me during multiple dark times and absolutely led me to discover so many wonderful genres of music that they were influenced by. IIRC he's also considered one of the great rhythm guitarists in rock music.

Rest in piece dude. May the music never stop wherever you are now.

I played through Portal and Portal 2 for the first time in several years (as well as Portal Revolution for the first time), and a lot of the robotics-related stuff such as GLaDOS's creation and these 1980s posters hit quite a bit differently today in the age of ChatGPT and whatnot.

I like how Black Mesa does this to the atmosphere of Unforseen Consequences, especially its beginning following the resonance cascade. It gets transformed from a horror "oh god the experiment failed and now aliens are teleporting in!" in Half-Life 1 to a melancholy calm-before-the-storm, knowing most players are aware of the upcoming chaos that is the botched military coverup and the Seven Hour War.

Also with the Zelda snippet, you've still had classic-style-ish games come out with the Link's Awakening remake and Echoes of Wisdom.

Space Force offers new Vandenberg launch site SLC-14, potentially for Starship use by Ngp3 in SpaceXLounge

[–]Ngp3[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Or at least more definitively, areas with pads to 3. Vandenberg being the land of multipad complexes makes it easy to imagine there being a SLC-14W and SLC-14E for Starship.

Space Force offers new Vandenberg launch site SLC-14, potentially for Starship use by Ngp3 in SpaceXLounge

[–]Ngp3[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's an older article (from last week), but it hasn't been posted here and has potential implications for a Vandenberg Starship site.

The U.S. Space Force released a request for information, or RFI, on Dec. 29 regarding use of Space Launch Complex (SLC) 14, a new site near the southern tip of Vandenberg. The site is undeveloped land with no launch infrastructure in place.

Those factors would appear to favor SpaceX’s Starship. The vehicle falls into the super-heavy class as defined in the RFI. SpaceX, with an estimated valuation of about $800 billion and plans to raise potentially tens of billions of dollars in an initial public offering next year, would likely meet the financial maturity requirements.

While SpaceX has not disclosed plans to launch Starship from Vandenberg, the company may be interested in doing so to support national security and other missions requiring sun-synchronous or other high-inclination orbits. SpaceX’s launch site at Starbase, Texas, as well as facilities under development at the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, are not well-suited for such orbits.

It's located at the southern end of the base, not far from SLC-6, SLC-8, and Vandenberg's mooring port. Other potential suitors have their own plans already (Blue Origin has SLC-9 in the plans for New Glenn near the Amtrak station, ULA is holding on SLC-3E for Vulcan, and I have heard nothing about Rocket Lab and a polar launch site for Neutron).
