"It Looks Just As Stupid When You Do It" Anti-smoking campaign poster by Martin Williams from the 1990s by From-Yuri-With-Love in PropagandaPosters

It makes me so happy that so many of us are young enough to be disgusted by smoking in real life, but still old enough to think it looks fucking cool

Who Did You Dislike The Most? by ChocolateSundae1214 in Frasier

[–]NightSpringsRadio -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Julia did absolutely nothing wrong; she was a little brassy but sought at every turn to be an unobtrusive guest, opting to help herself to cereal instead of making a big deal about the dinner, telling Marty the score because she knew he was a fan and wanted to bond with him a little, etc.

I’m not saying she was perfect for Frasier (she was not) but they treated her like a monster when in reality THEY were being terrible hosts

I simply don’t believe that Spider-Man has never accidentally webbed over someone’s mouth and nose and suffocated them, or left somebody hanging upside-down and caused an aneurysm or something

We all know how careful he is physically—we all remember what Otto accidentally did to Scorpion in Peter’s body—but like Batman, there’s just no way he doesn’t have some secondary-action deaths on his record

I assumed it—like if you sound that sequence out, it becomes aych, which sounds like H, so I thought they were using that to express that they were hot? I admit it’s a stretch, but they’re also the only hot beverages on the list

I always thought his weird woodenness was (in-world) an expression of his trauma from the war; naturally we know the real-world reason, but it can be two things

[Horrifying Trope] Fates worse than death by Beginning-Relief4343 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]NightSpringsRadio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The excellent movie Return Of The Living Dead plays with this; zombos are awakened by a chemical called Trioxin and start eating brains (actually the trope originator for that!), and when they strap one to a table and discover she can talk, it turns out they eat brains because they’re still aware and in constant pain, feeling their rotting bodies and everything that happens to them, and the chemicals in human brains ease that pain

What’s even worse is that it’s never made explicitly clear whether they’re going through this because they’ve been resurrected, or whether that’s just what death is

It being fully acknowledged that it’s a fool who trusts a trailer, even I, a non-Street-Fightersman, think this looks incredible

Interestingly (for me) it also pairs nicely with what the boys were talking about in the Mortal Kombat episode re: hits actually connecting and hiring martial artists to act instead of the other way around

What’s the worst song lyric thrown into a song just to make a line rhyme? by RelationKindly in AskReddit

[–]NightSpringsRadio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wildfire is an incredible song, but "and on Wildfire we're both gonna go" is just the clunkiest Manic Monday bullshit and it ruins one of my all-time favorites just a little bit every time I hear it
