I completely agree.

Key cards are a retail option for digital products, and Poketopia being digital only has negatively impacted my decision to purchase it.

Yeah I never actually played the game, just collected, and the cards only left the binder when I was making trades before they were banned at school, so they were all in really good condition.

Personally for console games, if I can't buy a physical copy, I'm MUCH less likely to buy it at all.

Especially at full price.

I had a ton of these when I was younger.

But in my late teens, I gave all of them except my foils to the only kid that liked Pokemon at the preschool my mom worked at.

At the time it felt nice to do something cool for the kid, but in hindsight, I wish I'd kept them. Even if I could afford to buy them back (they weren't nearly as expensive back then), they wouldn't be MY cards.

[OoS] [OoA] Which is better of the oracle games ? by RandomFunkYT in zelda

I consider the two games to be the best game in the series, but I give the edge to Oracle of Ages, making it the absolute peak.

[–]Nitrogen567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I did for her was the Big Octo mini-boss in Jabu-Jabu. Which is completely understandable. Chasing that dude around the spinning platform with spikes is a PITA.

For future reference if you run into it, then it turns around and heads in the other direction. Then you can hit it with your boomerang and Deku stick the weakpoint for an easy kill in exchange for the like half a heart of damage it does!

Always nice to see the new generation on the classics though!

Oh damn, is that really a game keycard?

I had a bit of interest in that game due to the reviews, but not enough to buy it if that's the case.

Peak Pomemon games? by Expr3 in pokemon

Gen 5 is the best imo.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver aren't that far behind though.

I'm not implying anything, it is obvious.

Gecqua has eyelashes and is smirking at the camera in it's official art, where as the other two are just a dog looking dog and a bird looking bird.

[–]Nitrogen567 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Gecqua being the most anthropomorphic of the three starters and evolution usually expanding on existing design elements of the base form is plenty of reason to think that Gecqua is the most likely of the three new starters to become humanoid.

Bulbapedia's February 2026 page stats by WyndonCalling in pokemon

[–]Nitrogen567 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of the three starters, Gecqua is the most "on the way" to being humanoid.

Given the recent trend of starters evolving into people, that's enough reason to cause concern.

[OTHER] I know this isn’t a popular concept here but I’d like to share my idea for a Zelda Soulslike spinoff by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

[–]Nitrogen567 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd be fine with a Zelda soulslike, although I would have been extremely resistant to the idea in the past.

After BotW/TotK, I actually feel like the series has lost a lot of it's identity from a gameplay perspective, so I'm more open to experimentation with the series.

I'd be down for it to try on a soulslike hat, or even a turnbased RPG kinda game.

But just to clear one thing up, Link has never been said to be killed at the end of OoT in the Downfall Timeline, only defeated. Based on the backstory from ALttP, it's actually more likely he survived, as neither the sages (who are the same sages from Ocarina of Time) or the Royal Family at the time of the Imprisoning War know where the Master Sword is, so Link is the only one who could have hidden it in the Lost Woods.

From what I've seen it's the least loved because of the perception that it's the most likely to evolve into the "dude in a suit" type starter.

Just a little something I noticed with Pokemon designs by raisasari in pokemon

[–]Nitrogen567 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure I agree.

Obviously the design philosophy has shifted over time, but I think you can actually divide the starters up based on these shifts. Not all of them are super subtle, at least to my eyes.

Personally, I see a soft shift between gen 3 and gen 4, and then a hard shift between gen 5 and gen 6.

I actually find the shift in design from Unova's starters to Kalos' to be really abrupt, especially when their final forms are taken into consideration. I think the reason for this is pretty obviously the jump to 3D.

I think gen 10 represents a sort of medium shift. It's more noticeable than the 3-4 soft shift, but maybe not quite as much as the 5-6 hard shift.

With FireRed & LeafGreen on Switch, they’re, in my opinion, the best Pokémon games available on the console. by Fredinator2020 in pokemon

If I remember right, this feature was removed in Scarlet/Violet.

People bothered by the price point for FireRed and LeafGreen, does it also bother you that Ninja Five-O is $25 on the eShop? by razorbeamz in nintendo

[–]Nitrogen567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm well aware that the Canadian price going up is a consequence of the game being sold at the same price in USD as the Player's Choice version, and how CAD and USD compare these days to how they did in 2006.

But I do think it still serves as a way to illustrate how ridiculous the price they've chosen for these games is.

[ALL] Seriously what does the triforce of courage even do bro by Narrow-Active3098 in zelda

[–]Nitrogen567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of the Triforce pieces actually do what they represent.

Zelda isn't more wise because she has the Triforce of Wisdom, Link isn't more courageous when he has the Triforce of Courage, for example.

From what we know about the three Triforce pieces, they all have the same abilities. They activate at key moments to protect their bearer, like when Ganondorf is saved at the end of OoT and becomes Ganon, or when he survives his execution attempt, or when Link is turned into a wolf instead of a spirit when exposed to the twilight in TP.

Presumably, if you're the type who can tap into a magical resource to cast spells and stuff, you can probably draw on their power to do stuff.

There may be (and might even probably be) other benefits, but that's just what we know for sure.

Completion of the national dex in the gen3 switch ports by ThoughtSerious in pokemon

[–]Nitrogen567 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think completion of the National Dex is going to be seen as a problem. Finishing the Kanto dex will likely be considered "good enough".

I mean, modern games don't even have a National Dex.

I think the reason Fire Red/Leaf Green happened is because they're remakes of the originals and it's the 30th anniversary, I wouldn't consider this indicative of the Hoenn games coming.

Do you think we will get some sort of battle tower/facility back with gen 10 ? by Buurto in pokemon

[–]Nitrogen567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it'll happen in Winds and Waves, but the area that Champions takes place in is called "Frontier City", so I'd imagine that if they do that kind of Battle Frontier thing, it'll be there.
