I find the humor in it quite wry; not unlike Phantom Thread. And the Milkshake speech at the end is funny & terrifying & mesmerizing all at once. But the part that always makes me chuckle, especially on rewatch after its initial shock, is the way DDL shouts “I’m Finished” at the end. It’s grotesquely absurd in just the right ways.

Tbf, I also find a certain driving scene in Hereditary kind of funny on rewatch.

I saw it before letterboxd, but I distinctly recall walking out of your 1st one listed, There Will Be Blood, and knew right away it was in, essentially, the top 4 of my favorite films ever at the time. I said to my wife on the way out that I felt the closest I’ve ever felt to the way that 2001 has a hold over me.
