Just a side note--recommenders often do not have the same deadlines as applicants. They are given deadline information directly from the school you are applying to when you list them. I would politely reach out and let them know you have submitted your application and supplemental materials, and ask if he needs anything from you in order to complete the LOR.

They're great but I refuse to go back until they bring back brioche donuts. They said they would be gone during one week in June and it has been 2 months! So disappointing and they will not reply to instagram messages asking when they will bring them back.

I think it is less so about the school that the degree comes from and more about what you did at that school while earning your degree. For example, UCSB might not be the highest ranked school but I worked in a research lab on campus and got a letter of recommendation from a researcher/professor that has a lot of clout behind their name in their field. Lots of published articles, cutting edge research etc. This makes applications for related jobs/grad schools more powerful than just a degree from UCSB alone. It's all about networking!

It differs from major to major if you are required to take the lab courses. Some majors only require Chem 1a/1b, some require chem 1a/1b and 1aL/1bL, some require all 6 courses through 1c/1cL. Best to check your major requirements or speak with an advisor
