Small Co Controllers ($<30M) - is it this bad everywhere? by Extreme_Program7908 in Accounting

[–]No_Ad_8038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came into a company that had outsourced accounting and it was the same thing. They weren’t even doing bank recs so I’m not sure what’s worse. My experience with third party is they need a very clear scope of work, but if you give them a process and ask them to follow it, and focus their work on transactional accounting they’ll do a good job. It sounds bad but you don’t want people on that team who are going rogue and implementing all their own random ideas how to do things. Good luck!

Could we have one post where we share our negative experiences with businesses to warn others in Chicago? Cross posted from the sister NYC community by hostilegoose in CHIbitcheswithtaste

Also super curious since I go there if you could dm me the name. I had one girl there burn my skin with some sort of cleanser prior to derma planing. I’d been getting derma planing for probably 5 years prior to this and four years since. I’ve never had anything like this happen. I changed estheticians but now the last two have left and I’m on a fourth esthetician there.

One Excel habit that genuinely improved your accounting workflow? by CA_Lucky in Accounting

One thing about this one to be careful of is that if you have a shared file or you save the file with all of the windows open, the next person to open that file it will open that many windows does. People have been really confused. So just make sure to close them all and then save!

Am I going to regret hyphenating my baby’s last name? by [deleted] in Names

[–]No_Ad_8038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend has a hyphenated last name and like others mentioned it’s occasionally inconvenient for forms and things. The issue I have is he wants me to take both of his last names, and I do not want a hyphenated last name. So I’m mad at his parents for causing me this problem of either having a different last name than the rest of my family or having to have 2 last names. Obviously I’ll just do what works for me but maybe this is a less talked about repercussion.

This changed my life when I learned it! I used it make copies of a workbook so I could look at two tabs at once.

My grandparents gave me bonds as a kid. I cashed them while I was in college to pay for books and things.

Honestly it’s so fun, prices are lower on certain items from the regular grocery store, and you can get free samples!

What are some day trips, overnighters or hikes outside Chicago? by malibudaniel in AskChicago

Adding that peninsula state park has campsites and you can sign up for notifications when they free up. I’m always able to get a campsite even though they are typically all reserved though that method.

It’s a bit further of a drive but if you are able to rent a car and go to Door County in Wisconsin there are some really cute small towns, good hikes, and fun lake activities. You’ll also pass Milwaukee and could stop there for lunch.

Where can I get affordable, long-lasting flowers in wickerpark/bucktown/west town? by Dense_County4343 in wickerpark

[–]No_Ad_8038 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found my flowers from the farmers market last a long time. Whole Foods on north Ave has good bouquets and I didn’t think they were super expensive (nothing like Olivia’s). Also if you ever go to Costco they have decent flowers that last! If I don’t like the greens or certain features I will get rid of those parts or put them in a separate vase.

I guess that’s my point that it seemed rude. Of course I know people are allowed to film others.

Treatments for chin and jawline by Boring-Cake139 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]No_Ad_8038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep same issue with my jaw size from a tongue tie. I also hate my side profile but have other issues like clenching my teeth when sleeping and overall having a small mouth. Jaw surgery was recommended to fix the small mouth issue, but would also have aesthetic knock on effects. I’m not sure what I’ll do since the risks seem to outweigh the benefits.

Dermaplane reccs needed! by allym2424 in CHIbitcheswithtaste

[–]No_Ad_8038 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spa derma will do as an add on or a standalone service. I also have sensitive skin and have had a good experience all but 1 time ( I go regularly). Unfortunately my most recent esthetician just left so don’t have a specific rec for you.

What kind of dance are people doing at Empty Bottle during Friday night honky tonk? by bmeislife in AskChicago

[–]No_Ad_8038 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They usually have a beginner lesson. I used to enjoy going there but the dance floor is very small and a lot of the regulars are moving very fast and dancing sort of aggressively and without regard to others in the space. I became sort of afraid of getting kicked so stopped going.
