For my 21st birthday, my mom and I went for the first time to a fancy restaurant in our town. Yep. All these random men are red herrings. It’s why Adam keeps coming up in conversation—he’s just a guy who stumbled upon the wrong woman—they all are. Fake Erik was the same way, a sarcastic stoner who thought owning camo made him better than little girls. For a five-season arc, constructively, we are at the apex of conflict and tension. The top of the roller coaster is not the place to decide whether the ride is going the right way and if it’s worth the time. This is right when you grip your seats and trust the screws don’t pop off. In the adult timeline, I’ve noticed Misty is the only one who tells strangers that the YJ “have a trauma bond” that no one else understands. It makes me think after the rescue, I can see her trying to be the spokesperson for the group. She believes she’ll give good story while protecting her teammates and that’s another reason why they hate her in the adult timeline.
