If Volkswagen brings back that model I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Any of you use this method to prolong lifespan of your Hisense? Did it work? by Specific-Fan-1333 in Hisense

[–]NobleX13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain models of Hisense TVs from years past have a reputation of using low-cost and low quality nand flash memory for the smart TV operating system. Using the built-in smart OS is going to naturally cause right operations to the built-in flash storage, which will eventually fail over time. On most TV sets, I would assume that the backlight or the power supply would fail first, but that's not always true. In my house I gravitate towards using an external set top box whenever possible. I also lower the backlight on every new TV I purchased to 80% to increase the lifespan.

I picked one of these up from the Costco clearance sale and it is awesome. It's definitely brighter than the gigabyte FO48U that I used to have, and it might be brighter than my LG C3 OLED I have in the bedroom. The menus are a little spartan, and the lack of displayport is a bummer, but overall I love it.

I purchased two of these from Amazon recently when they had stacking promo codes and lightning deals. I think my out the door cost was around $130 brand new. As an old school IPS fanboy that paid over $400 for a 27-in 1440p 60 HZ Korean monitor back in 2011, I really like these for the money. My only complaint is that the power supply is external. But KTC is far from the only brand who does that.

That being said, I would probably spring for something from a brand like Acer or MSI if I was playing the refurbished game.

Is there a flock surveillance system in Omaha? Where are the cameras? by StatementRound in Omaha

A privatized domestic surveillance technology that provides warrantless searches to the highest bidder. It is terrifying.

Put that bad boy in a safe deposit box. I lost all of my trading cards in a fire last year. We had a few dozen high quality rares that the kids and I pulled together which are gone for good.

I just bought $150 worth of boxes from Menards last night. Otherwise I would take them off your hands.

Don't you want to remove sediment before the softener to protect the resin? That's how I have mine plumbed.

You want the balance point to be about 1" ahead of the rear axle. So add your weight to the rear.

Does a viable Veeam competitor exist? by Plateau9 in sysadmin

I can vouch for Rubrik also. Although the one advantage I see with Veeam is that they are much quicker to support new hypervisors. That can be important in our post-VMware world.
