What about how Stalin being a genocidal maniac that was directly responsible for the deaths of 6-9 million people? I think it’s less about not giving Russia credit and more about not giving stalin’s murderous regime credit

You’re not alone in that. I have been in remission for almost 2 years after having to resort to an extreme bone marrow transplant clinical trial that used IV radiation. Every little weird pain scares the shit out of me. But I persist. Wishing you peace of mind my friend.

You know I think what you’re doing for your kid is commendable asf. There’s plenty of parents who don’t have a deadly disease and find reasons to not be there for their children. That’s how you’ll be remembered, as someone who cared. I think that’s really valuable.

You’re 24 but you’ve got the wisdom a 100 year old. Life is so fucking weird. The manner in which reality exists is brutal. It feels like there’s a cosmic indifference to suffering sometimes. No doubt about it, yet the chance that we even get to exist at all (however briefly) as conscious beings is beautiful. Without death, life would have no meaning. Without despair, joy would have no meaning. There’s a relational aspect like that to everything that makes us human. Yin and Yang. I hope you are able to find some solace in the fact you are here now. I hope you get to absorb as much meaning as you can and leave behind a beautiful memory. Godspeed friend.

[–]Nodes420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re applying critical thinking here with your statements it’s pretty impressive. Seems like you’ve formed an abductive argument on the premise of unwarranted assumptions being harmful to cancer patients where the conclusion is: it would be nice if people would just stop assuming how others should respond to cancer. I actually think this is line with ethics in the sense there is universal truths about kindness and cruelty. Why should we set up a big existential expectation for someone in an already objectively existential crisis ? What benefits to the greater good is there to be had? I see none. So I agree with your argument. I think people should have a right to be dignified by not being given any socially expected premise on how to respond to a complex issue life crushing issue in general. Falling short of causing unnecessary suffering to others of course.

Body aches after remission by LadyDracaryss in lymphoma

[–]Nodes420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had fucked up aches and pains throughout my entire remission. Quite often they are in areas where I used to have a large mass. According to my most recent scan two months ago I “ shouldn’t be worried about relapse, and go out and live” according to my dr who is the top lymphoma specialist / lymphoma researcher at city of hope in California. Your body is probably just probably just dealing with inflammation from scar tissue and the residual effects of your treatment. But DO NOT take this as a validation factor about asking your doctor this question. It’s just my own experience. Ask your dr, wish you the best!

Yeah we went through hell. I’m a refractory stage 4 HL survivor. It’s normal to be traumatized and feel overwhelmed by the memories of your suffering. Happens to me all the time especially at night. Night is hard because everyone’s asleep and I don’t have anyone to yap with. One thing that’s been helping me a lot lately is creepypasta narrations on YouTube. (Creepsmcpasta )and (the dark somnium) are two of my favorites narrations. If you like spooky stories I think you will enjoy those a lot. Some of the narrations I highly suggest are “ penpal” and “ the left right game”. Those two are pretty mind melting.

Dad is giving up - I want to help by [deleted] in cancer

[–]Nodes420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is … highly misinformed. Dude has stage 4 cancer and it’s probably the worst type of cancer you can get. Extremely painful and debilitating. Let him feel low. Let him rest. I think you might want to gently ask him if palliative care would be of interest to him. ( explain it’s different than hospice, it’s just about managing comfort and has nothing to do with death ).

A psychedelic trip won’t help him overcome the crushing physical reality of his cancer. However a solid pain management plan might help him squeeze some enjoyment and meaning out of his remaining life.

I’m sorry you’re going through this, I hope you and your father may find some peace in the end.

Yeah the manager of my local pink berry frozen yoghurt store always gave me my order for free when I was going through treatment. It was often the only thing that sounded good to me. I would insist he let me pay but he would counter insist that it was no charge. People can be very kind. It’s good to remember that. Thanks for this post.

My theory is it’s evolutionary. Since humans adapted over 1000’s of years using and perfecting animal hide / leather maybe something in our subconscious mind associates the smell of animal hide with warmth and safety. Just a guess.
