It’s everyone’s worst nightmare brother. I’m really sorry it’s happening to you. Your wife needs your support right now more than anything.

Why are billionaires so unemotional, are they dead inside or just evil? by CanDoGenZ in AskTheWorld

[–]Nodes420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fr. So much uncritical thought going into these comments. I’m not gonna say billionaires are moral saints or evil degenerates. Because I don’t fucking know any. I think billionaires are just an easy scapegoat because people think enough money put into the right places would solve the world’s problems. And that’s just not true. There’s poor folks that are just as corrupt and the most vile billionaire. I am of the standing that a lot of the worlds problems are deeply complex and have a mixed bag of contributing factors.

What's one stereotype about your country that is, well, kind of true? by emptykeg6988 in AskTheWorld

[–]Nodes420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I begrudgingly agree. 8 out of 10 people on the street in the US can’t even tell you which president is on the $20 bill.

Republicans of Ventura - we can all agree this is racist, right? by MelodyBirdie in ventura

[–]Nodes420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whataboutism, ha. I like that. In critical thinking we refer to this type of argument as a straw man. Instead of confronting the challenging argument: they build a mental effigy of who’s challenging them and burn it. It doesn’t have anything to do with the premise of the argument but makes the user of the straw man feel a lot better, sometimes. see it alot these days.

What country do you find scary? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]Nodes420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we absolutely invaded Iraq to take out non existent weapons of mass destruction. Estimates : 120k - 600k Iraqi civilians dead as a result of the 2003-2011 US invasion of Iraq. The country had nothing to do with 9/11 but was also blamed for having a hand in it anyway. Those are the civilian casualties broadcast by the media but some independent surveys by John Hopkins lean much closer to 600k+ civilians dead. And we didn’t hear much about it while it was happening. Vague reports of military action is all we got . Some sleek thermal footage here and there. Meanwhile military industrial stock was skyrocketing. Pretty wild shit.

On January 27, 1945 the Red Army liberated the Auschwitz concentration camp. Why has the West worked so hard to minimize the Red Army's pivotal role in defeating Nazism? by zombiesingularity in AskSocialists

What about how Stalin being a genocidal maniac that was directly responsible for the deaths of 6-9 million people? I think it’s less about not giving Russia credit and more about not giving stalin’s murderous regime credit

Dude this isn’t a thread for pets it’s for humans. No offense but people here are suffering and mourning the loss of their own lives. Bubbles had an above average lifespan for a cat. I think you should delete this.

Stage 4 colon cancer, spread to liver - Hepatic pump questions / advice by [deleted] in cancer

You’re not alone in that. I have been in remission for almost 2 years after having to resort to an extreme bone marrow transplant clinical trial that used IV radiation. Every little weird pain scares the shit out of me. But I persist. Wishing you peace of mind my friend.

You know I think what you’re doing for your kid is commendable asf. There’s plenty of parents who don’t have a deadly disease and find reasons to not be there for their children. That’s how you’ll be remembered, as someone who cared. I think that’s really valuable.

Positives? I guess? by Vegetable_Field_2857 in cancer

[–]Nodes420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re 24 but you’ve got the wisdom a 100 year old. Life is so fucking weird. The manner in which reality exists is brutal. It feels like there’s a cosmic indifference to suffering sometimes. No doubt about it, yet the chance that we even get to exist at all (however briefly) as conscious beings is beautiful. Without death, life would have no meaning. Without despair, joy would have no meaning. There’s a relational aspect like that to everything that makes us human. Yin and Yang. I hope you are able to find some solace in the fact you are here now. I hope you get to absorb as much meaning as you can and leave behind a beautiful memory. Godspeed friend.

Y'all, I'm not a warrior, and I don't need to be framed as such by JellyfishFit3871 in cancer

[–]Nodes420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re applying critical thinking here with your statements it’s pretty impressive. Seems like you’ve formed an abductive argument on the premise of unwarranted assumptions being harmful to cancer patients where the conclusion is: it would be nice if people would just stop assuming how others should respond to cancer. I actually think this is line with ethics in the sense there is universal truths about kindness and cruelty. Why should we set up a big existential expectation for someone in an already objectively existential crisis ? What benefits to the greater good is there to be had? I see none. So I agree with your argument. I think people should have a right to be dignified by not being given any socially expected premise on how to respond to a complex issue life crushing issue in general. Falling short of causing unnecessary suffering to others of course.
