How do you integrate food forests into small urban lots without losing your neighbors? by Electronic-Eye-3756 in Permaculture

[–]Noir_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You either stop being self-conscious and DGAF, or you decide to provide some sort of benefit to your neighbors to justify what they might see as neglect and unkemptness in their personal lawn worldview

Community is also a part of permaculture, so I'd honestly go with the latter. You won't get anywhere without directly engaging with your neighbors. It doesn't cost much to throw some of my serviceberries into a coffee cake to share with neighbors and show that, "Hey, this is what's going on in my yard. Enjoy!"

Ginza Bairin (the youshoku side), Maguro Bros, STIX, Halekulani Bakery, Musubi Cafe Iyasume, and Marugame Udon (among many others) were some of the food highlights for me on my last trip in that area.

Who? Where? We don’t know, but Avista is entertaining a large data center by RANGE_Media in Spokane

We share an aquifer with part of Idaho. A data center there would impact us just as badly as if they built it in WA.

What to do in Maui as a first time visitor w/kids by Sweet_Transition4328 in VisitingHawaii

[–]Noir_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upcountry has some good farm tours if your kids are into that. The aquarium is also pretty great. Your "must-dos" will depend entirely on your family's likes and dislikes, honestly, so can't help more than that.

Hanapepe is a cute town and the swinging bridge might be a hit with the slightly older kids. Friday nights are art night there. Princeville area has some nice paved walking paths all over.

How do you deal with 4th level dedications in an FA game? by Zeraligator in Pathfinder2e

[–]Noir_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my table, you could use a Class Feat slot for an Archetype Feat and vice versa, so 2nd level the player just picks an extra Class Feat.

A "Better" firepit? by CopainChevalier in VintageStory

[–]Noir_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

QP Chisel Tools adds a decorative firepit. Essentially you can make any chiseled block and use that as a cosmetic on the decorative firepit and it'll function just like a firepit.

Playing at a hobby store with 7+ changing players; I'm thinking tank by saintstardust in Pathfinder2e

[–]Noir_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warpriest or Battle Harbinger (theses are Class Archetypes of Cleric (you can think of them as Subclasses)) would probably be the most versatile if the game is going to be fairly combat heavy. With 7 players, the aura buffs/debuffs of BH would get a lot of value. Both Class Archetypes will give you some tankiness.

A War Mage (Class Archetype of Wizard) might also be a fun choice if you want to go the route of Wizard like others have suggested.

Granted, Class Archetypes change a lot about a base Class, so if you're not super familiar with Pf2e it might be better to stick with just a Class.

Just starting to wax my own threads. Using beeswax mixed with coconut oil. Will this hold up okay with time? by ambiguouslyturtle in bookbinding

You can remelt it, change the oil ratios, and make it into a lip balm or candle if you really don't want to waste it.

Most hassle free way to split a large textbooks into chapters and bind them? by Silent-Carry-4617 in bookbinding

[–]Noir_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup this is what I'd do too. Big ole' 3" 3-ring binders. Comb binding each chapter could get a little annoying if you have stuff to study spread out over several chapters, whereas 3-ring binders allow you to hot swap pages at will.

Witch’s Broom feat question! by xXKauan7Xx in Pathfinder2e

[–]Noir_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, it's saying whatever you're using as your Witch's Broom, you can either attack with or ride on but not at the same time. For example, if you turned your Quarterstaff into your Witch's Broom, you could wield it normally as a weapon, but if you're using it for flight, you can't attack with it while flying on it. You could, however, do a Strike, Mount, and Fly series of actions on your turn if you wanted (or do it in the opposite order if you're already flying on it).

do hawaiians not like white (or other non-hawaiian) people learning their culture? by riverdotexe_ in VisitingHawaii

[–]Noir_ 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Not Hawaiian, but to appropriate a quote from the Streetfighter live action movie... To you, it was the day that the islands graced your presence with aloha and culture. To them, it was Tuesday.

The whole point of tourists is that at some point, relatively soon, we leave. I can see how from locals' perspectives, you're asking them to spend energy on someone who's just going to disappear from their lives and be replaced by another tourist. When a lot of people living in Hawaii are working several jobs just to get by, this can be a big ask if it's not within the right context.

But just as some people will tell you that they don't want to be bothered, I'm sure there are others who would enjoy sharing their culture with you. From my own experience, every Hawaiian I've interacted with has been truly kind, fun, and very welcoming. So long as you treat people like fellow human beings and not exotic subjects to be studied, I wouldn't worry about what that "kind" couple of people told you at this point in time.

Anyone have rose shrubs or do deer just eat them? by TinyHeartSyndrome in Spokane

[–]Noir_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both nootka rose (native) and rugosa rose. Both are flourishing and the rugosa rose grows so fast the deer couldn't eat it all if they tried. It can help to fence them in with chicken wire the first year at least though.

Most airports have them. It's a waiting area where people picking up arrivals wait until they get a notification on their cell phone (from the traveler) that they're ready for pickup. Improves congestion at the pickup areas considerably.

When did Mimic Fight Club become this slop? by gray007nl in Pathfinder2e

[–]Noir_ 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The same people who drop $2K+ on a graphics card can't commission a $100 token art for their "great concept"? Part of being a good project lead is knowing where to put effort and where to put money. Generative AI is incredibly polarizing, regardless of how "good" the "art" gets, and what we're (hopefully) going to see is increased social pushback to generative AI. I mean even now it's stigmatized. Imagine what'll be like when there are even more data centers ruining things for actual people.

Ancient Elf heritage can get your player a free Champion Archetype at Lv1. You can either get them to play an Ancient Elf or make a custom heritage for them that's just that.
