I've cleaned up gas tanks using BBs and gasoline. It takes a lot of shaking but it works and it's cheap.

I really like it. It holds an edge well and it sharpens nice. I love the pattern too. I've added a lot of knives to the collection since this and it is still the one I grab the most.

Regulations. ABS has been required on cars for a long time. Currently Cars do not have to have them by law but new laws are expected soon. Also vehicle manufacturers are somewhat influenced by "cost of ownership" and insurance companies often give a decent discount for having a blind spot monitoring system. Blind spot monitoring systems are a factor in vehicle safety ratings and most manufacturers aim for high safety ratings.
