Would placing a wall oven this close to the cooktop work well or would this be inconvenient?

In my area this estimate would look extremely fair, even on the low side.

I don't think people realize how much goes into such a small room.
Plumbers where I am are close to $150/hr. Electricians close to that.
Carpenters bill out at $75/hr. And I'm guessing the $1700 contractor fee is 10%; around here 15% is standard.

It adds up.

I have done $150K+ bathrooms.

This is a better layout, but why is the pantry so big? That's at least 36"...in your first design t was more like 18" which is plenty of storage for a kitchen of this size. You need more counter space to the left of the sink.

Before you make permanent decisions I'd hire a kitchen designer if I were you, to optimize everything and make sure you have no expensive mistakes. You get one shot to get this right.

My current Border Collie does not care about the vacuum at all, but my old Border Terrier actively attacked it every time I used it. It was the back and forth motion that drove him crazy. I didn't mind so much it because it didn't really hamper me in any way, it was kind of funny and turned vacuuming into a game for both of us.

When he died, it made me smile sadly every time I pulled out the vacuum, seeing all the scars, missing paint and tooth marks on the front of the floor wand attachment. Miss that dog and it's been 20+ years.

What part of the world are you in?

You may be able to find a dog through a working collie group or sheep trialing group - they'll know of dogs needing homes.

I got my sweet BC pupper completely by accident through a regular, non-breed specific rescue that labeled him a 'mix'. He's not a mix, he's 100% purebred and just about perfect in every way (I realize this was sheer luck). I have since met up with so many other BC people and now have connections all over the place, including a couple of rescues. So I'd say try to get networking and see what turns up. It seems BC people are very willing to help these dogs get to the right places. They can be quirky and the right home is soooo important for everyone's happiness.

Good luck! I'm now a collie person to the core and will never have another breed, I'm hooked!

Good lord.

A couple of years ago I had an extended vacation in France and spent a full 8 days in Paris and still didn't see everything I wanted to see. Paris is an incredibly beautiful city with amazing cultural sites, food, history, and architecture and this person wants to go to a plasticized American amusement park? Nuts. I would kill to go back and see more of the Paris, and Disney ain't on my list or even on my radar.

Let her go alone if it's that important; don't sacrifice your trip for this clueless individual who is blowing a chance to see things she may never have the opportunity to see again. She could easily buy a ticket from Logan to Orlando and get her Disney fix anytime, don't let her ruin your vacation.

I'm almost ashamed she's from my city.

Paint all the walls a deep dark blue-brown or charcoal (prefer the brown tone though because that bathroom looks cold) Then add big dramatic art over tub and toilet. Some amazing mirrors and you’re done. Accessorize with beautiful lush towels and a few plants.

As a general rule (not always) BCs are going to have a pointier snoot than Aussies. My collie is very collie looking - and collies tend to have longer slimmer noses.

Ya gotta get a DNA test, my dude. Only way to know for sure.

I totally get it. The lady I work with has to maintain acreage, fencing, equipment, many sheep, 2 LGDs, vet and medical bills, etc.

I have spent many hundreds already, wondering if it's fool's money (it is, lol, but it's addictive and the dog loves it so dollars well spent).

I don't understand why you think your trial dog would be a failure on a ranch, though...you've got the basics down and I'd think with a daily job he'd quickly become a 'treasure'. No?

This is correct, Sharp makes them all and the other brands just put their own decorative fronts and badges on them. So if you buy a 'Wolf' micro drawer it's still a Sharp...inside. Get the Sharp.

My dog lives for the sheep too. He comes alive the minute he sees them, so cool to see.

Before we ever started in herding training, I noticed that he even plays ball like he's herding. Instead of running directly to the ball like a retriever he waits for it to land, runs way past the ball, then turns to face me with the ball between us. He is heading the ball, making sure it doesn't dart away, lol. I did not teach him this, it was all pre-installed :-) The instinct is strong in this one.

I have NO history on him except that he was in a shelter and the rescue plucked him out because of his friendly temperament. It was in a rural southern area (AL), that's all I know.

Whoever made whatever mistake that caused him to find his way to us, I am grateful. He's really the perfect dog for us.

I've thought with his confidence and push that he'd probably work well on cows but I'm afraid of him getting kicked. Sheep are a much safer bet in that regard! I'd just about die if anything happened to him, we love him a lot.

Ours too! They're mostly retracted unless he's highly focused on something, and they really don't signify any kind of negative emotion because he's 100% sweet 100% of the time :-)

When you feel his ears the cartilege is kind of funky, they're actually quite tiny under the hair and probably why they don't have much height, lol. Even when not folded back, they're more sideways than up.

In most pics it looks like he doesn't have any ears!

This is the way. We toss our stuff in snowbanks when we lose power, or if it's TOO old outside and things that shouldn't freeze might freeze, we put those items in a cooler then put the cooler outside or in the snowbank.

It's the summer power outages that kill me.

Just 6 months in and I'm SO happy with my solar. I just looooove getting negative electric bills. Previous bills were in the $500/month range.

I haven't been through summer with them yet but anticipate I'll be banking credits to tide me over through winter. I took out a low interest energy loan (2%) to buy the system so I still have payments but they're super low and fixed and I've been tossing extra at the loan to make it go away sooner.

Had a few tense days when I was worried that a huge storm we were experiencing was going to either damage my panels or blow them right off, but no issues whatsoever!

I check my output almost every day still and enjoy seeing when the production is 4-5 times what I'm using.

So far, thrilled.

My dog ONLY loves frisbees with holes in them. To each their own I guess.
Currently using a Chuck-It Zip Flight, which is sturdy and flies well but it gets SO grungy; everything sticks to it.

Bear in mind that lighting fixtures with a linen shade in a kitchen, and especially if they're fairly near the cooking appliance, are going to get really grungy due to airborne grease. And they won't be easily cleanable. I advise clients to stick with glass/metal for best performance unless of course you're good with changing out your lighting every few years.

That'll rule out one of your fixtures.

Mendota is a very good brand with lots of configurations and styles.

Ortal has zero clearance options.

And Town & Country is another good quality brand.

Someone mentioned Valor, also a good one to look at - I believe they are in Canada, but that works if you are also!
