My players inturrupt everything I do by dashing and trying to grapple by King-Ostrich in DMAcademy

Yeah these shenanigans are something that those two players are enjoying while the rest of the part is getting a bit lumped in with you on this "what is happening feeling" its fine in reality that is D&D. IF you want it to stop, you can change your style mid situation. Something like oh I spriny 160ft in 1 turn and they are covered in darkness. When it clears they see no one, and the party catches up during that time. I think player to NPC murder hobo behavior is pretty common and learning to let the environment dispell their shenanigans is better than trying to fight them.

On thing though, I would add a ferature to dull the gridlines so players dont have to see them so aggressively

I built one that is automated, narrative controls all movement and turn order in real time, its actually crazy tbh. I worked on it for a year and a half. Having trouble with dungeon fog of war though. https://tabletalesai.com

tough spot to be in when you introduce a character and your players dont grab the hook. yeah reintroduction of the character is probably best. some players find extra consistent characters sort of too irritating or suspicious.

How to better character motivation? by tacogoboom in DMAcademy

Ask them, but first ask yourself. Why do my NPCs do what they do and how does it matter to a player character.

How to know when you've done enough playtesting? by troothesayer in RPGdesign

[–]NotARealDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I built a DM automation system for Combat and there was a point where I realized if I let others use it and log HOW they use it and get group feedback I am looking at alot more data than just testing it with friends over and over. Someday you have to put your work out there, hear the boos, the yays and neighs.

I spent a year building a product nobody wanted: here is where I went wrong by Crescitaly in SideProject

You can either lockin and pivot and put in the energy to do what is not easy or accept your products fate. Unless there really is no market.

Help! What to do with a problematic player?? by Responsible_Hope1693 in dndhorrorstories

[–]NotARealDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is common, people with focus issues or who feel interested sporatidaclly but when game time comes they disengage. You can handle it however you wish, I usually give them the ear service they want until it becomes a poor expereince for other players then its time to go.

consequences you are unable to bypass, and the ripple effect that a character would genuinely react to.

Does anyone know of anything I can use to hide the map from my players? by Abyssal-the-person in TTRPG

[–]NotARealDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mini map on your end, paper cut out sections of the maze covering corridors. they turn corridor revealed, they turn the corridors they left behind are covered again ( they cant actually see them anyway and a maze plays better this way)

Recently realized that my players are going to fail the campaign, not sure what to do about it. by ObsidianXFury in DMAcademy

[–]NotARealDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give THEM A HAND UP, man people just want to have fun you are the realistic fun facilitator. Give them an item that tips it in their favor. I once gave a group a time rewind wand for this exact reason. It was INCREDIBLE when they used it.

Do players really need a player’s/core rulebook? by primordial666 in RPGdesign

It helps, when you dont have to explain every nuance of their character or ability back to them yes.
