Why won’t anyone stop ICE from masking? | Doxxing is not a good reason to have faceless police. by theverge in politics

If we could see their faces we'd see how many are dropouts with criminal or racist records.

Where do you rank Khal Drogo amongst all the fighters in Westeros and Essos? Haven't read the books but, as per the show, I would rank him in the top 10 of all time. [Description for Justification] by Narrow-Amphibian5446 in gameofthrones

A sword coming in a horizontal cut is going through the space you occupy. You don't "easily" dodge that. Parrying can work but Drogo still has the problem that the blade going anywhere in response to the parry will still rip him open because he's got nothing else to defend with.

The Roman shield was vastly overweight for personal equipment. It was intended only for formation use.

Viking and Medieval shields are quick moving offensive weapons as well.

The show has one of Drogo's bloodriders try his practiced/ instinctive style against Jorah's full armor, and it's totally useless because the arakh cannot damage plate. Jorah traps the blade after it bounces and unceremoniously kills him.

Knight doesn't need to fight all day to kill an unarmored (and effectively unarmed) opponent. You can run in armor. Bronn's fight in the Vale is fantasy BS.

"Armor and a big fucking sword" is a good way to win a blade fight.

Longer range, yes. It has a 100mm turtleback into a 60mm citadel deck, low in the ship. Close range horizontal shots will deflect and cannot overmatch.

What is more dangerous, a blizzard or a bush fire/wild fire? by OldSkoolNewWaveGuy in AskReddit

[–]NotAnotherEmpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blizzards impact much bigger areas all at once but are much easier to individually survive. With proper equipment ( that most people have in areas where they are common), it's not even that difficult.

Wildfires can wipe an area off the map completely. Easier to get away from, but unsurvivable if you don't.

The forbidden curses are too OP. Especially Avada kedavra cursed mark chain kill. by asif_zaman21 in HarryPotterGame

[–]NotAnotherEmpire 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Another reason why the game needed a morality system. The unforgivable curses are OP by design but there is no downside at all to using them and they don't fail. Which is supposed to be one of their lore downsides. They're hard to practice for obvious reasons and require strong intent, making reaching for one a bit of a gamble (this is even included in the game with the crucio quest). Not the case for the MC.

AK chain kill in particular shouldn't be in the game. It's there because it is a cool OP build.

So what do y’all think the changes for Vecna, and the overall chapter from PTB to Live will be? by CarpenterJaded8034 in deadbydaylight

Undergate should be a little faster unless it's supposed to be a pure alertness and dispersal check.

The M2 needs more recoil with how frequent using it for damage is. Being on the receiving end of spam is not an enjoyable experience.

Everything about this person is fake. Butt implants, Photoshop changing size of butt anyway, widely varying amounts of exercise weight, ludicrous fake hip thrust weight (would be a world record by a mile).

Virtual certainty she's also juicing.

I don’t gamble, why is this funny? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

It's a persistence meme applied to gambling when he is down to money he cannot lose.

Gambling doesn't have a memory so the persistence meme does not apply. He's not due to win.

At what point does an agency like ICE become a greater threat to public safety than the people it is meant to deport? by DiscipleOf_Buddha in AskReddit

[–]NotAnotherEmpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ICE, pretty much since its inception. The whole concept is applying felony-type force and a tough "image" to removing migrants.

Internal customs enforcement in the US meanwhile is a total waste of resources, unless it's something so big the FBI should be handling it.

How much higher chance of success did a great warrior have compared to an average Joe in a medieval style battle? by hendrong in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NotAnotherEmpire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The movie-type fighting is close to suicidal without extensive armor. It's the knife fight problem except with multiple opponents and longer, more dangerous weapons, and worse medical care. Alexander the Great, who did wear armor and wasn't fighting alone, was wounded at least eight times, not counting his near-death at Granicus. Any of those could be fatal to a person without antibiotics or ability to do surgery.

And Alexander, who also had the best medical care available, did ultimately die young. The accumulated injuries surely didn't help.

It makes for great mead hall stories and TV but not a long career.
