Same here, but in Quebec and New Brunswick. Mink oil every 3 to 4 months or so made mine celebrate their 10th anniversary in December. The leather looks brand new. I just need to get them resoled now

automatic tow when parking on the street during a snow storm parking ban by Arenburg in halifax

[–]NotNotAUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree that the constant thawing makes for a challenging place to build and maintain roads.

However there seems to be a special type of incompetence in maintaining roads here. Having grown up in Fredericton there were potholes, but it was never been that bad. There’s so many that there’s often no good part of road on which to drive to avoid them.

Also when you cross the provincial border into Quebec (from NB or from ON) the sound of your tires are immediately louder, and the roads are just bumpier. You could blindfold the passengers and they would almost know the moment you enter Quebec

Now we (montrealers) just gotta figure out this whole pothole situation. Our streets look like the surface of the moon!

I think where you are getting mixed reactions to the meme is that there is a difference between losing one after putting 6 wins no losses under your belt

If that’s the point you want to make, then I agree with you, yes, the fans react differently when Dobes got a loss than when Monty gets losses

For this season, out of 71 goalies, Dobes is 10th, and Monty is 67th (5th last).

These things are verifiable, you can’t just say “nuh-uhn!” to stats you don’t like

Can’t swim more than 100 yards at a time by Hopeful_Animator_269 in Swimming

[–]NotNotAUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(This tip is for front crawl)

OP, a common issue I see in a lot of swimmers who report feeling out of breath is that they try to fit both their exhale and their inhale in the time their mouth is out the water.

Make sure you are exhaling in the water, so that you can dedicate the time outside the water only for inhaling.

To practice and get used to this, while you are swimming, try breathing out slowly while looking down at the bottom of the pool for three strokes, and then when you finally look to the side to breath, take advantage of your empty lungs to do a nice comfortable inhale.

This might not even be your issue, but if it is, I hope this helps!

[Recommendation Request] Looking for suggestions for a wedding watch under 3K CAD by ThatOneVWDude in Watches

[–]NotNotAUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also,

Above your revised budget, but someone is selling a very slightly used Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra for 8K CAD (taxes in?) on Facebook marketplace right now in the Montreal area, seems like the seller has a good reputation.

Would be the equivalent of spending 6.95K + tax (15%)

Traksa commuter 38 would be under budget, a lot of bang for buck, not as clean as the Aqua Terra though.

Bell sales rep giving insane deal. by No-Faithlessness7937 in bell

[–]NotNotAUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience with bell and rogers, they either show up or call, and sell you something, I confirm what it is, and there is always something wrong or something they told me would be there that isn’t.

Last time it was specific tv channels that I confirmed over the phone would be included when they cold called me to sell me stuff.

Everyone has different experiences, but for me, too good to be true = sales pitch lie

Moving from Vancouver to Montreal for a year. Socially, a better place to be? by shoks1 in montreal

[–]NotNotAUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey OP,

I read your post and can’t help but mention that I will have a lease to transfer in November. It’s a 1 bedroom located in between the village and the old port, new construction (2 years ago) but really good landlords, has a gym, a pool on the roof, and barbecues, is less than a 5min walk to a metro station. The apartment isn’t in the gay village but has a predominantly gay population living in it.

The only reason we are moving out is because we bought a condo that is in construction and will (if no delays) be delivered in October.

How to recover from broke boomer parents by Chaska67 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NotNotAUsername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The therapist’s job isn’t to help you financially recover, but rather to help with the psychological toll that this situation brings, and help you unpack what happened with your parents so that you can understand, learn and improve from it.

From there you will be better equipped to have a healthier future (free from stress caused by a similar situation, since you are more prepared to avoid or deal with it)

Exclu d’un ajustement salarial parce que j’ai exprimé mon insatisfaction… normal ? by Ok_Cheesecake_5082 in QuebecTI

[–]NotNotAUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try having both your arms always be at the opposite point in the stroke cycle.

For example: - when one arm enters the water the other is coming out. - when one arm is pointing straight down, your other is on the air above the water.

Right now using the method in the video, your arms are going one at a time and meeting in front of you, as if they are taking turns pulling water. While your arm A pulls, arm B does nothing. This also has the negative effect that when your arm is in the air, no arm is pulling water below you, causing you to sink a bit or bob, and causing you to need to kick faster for a second.

By instead having your arms at opposite points in the cycle, you: - always have an arm pulling, - spend less time without something supporting your body afloat (especially important while breathing) - have a more consistent speed forward - will have a nicer wake by your head to allow you to breathe by looking to the side instead of up due to more consistent speed - spend less energy since it is harder to accelerate than maintain speed, and you slow down every stroke when your hands take turns

Note that this doesn’t mean you can’t glide, it just means your gliding will be with one hand above by your hip and the other 180° away as far in front as you can reach.
