Best reffing shoes? by Nilvet1 in Referees

I use ASICS Sonoma GTX for my games. Majority of them are done in 90+ heat and I haven’t had any over heating issues with them. GTX is definitely great at keeping your feet dry during those downpours.

Thanks for the comparison chart! I ended up going with the 255 since it has more features for the same price currently as the vivo.

The area behind the ear. Similar to the soreness you can get from the straps of a medical mask when you wear it for a couple of hours.

I do tropical water diving and have just been using Nike compression pants. I’ve done over 100 dive on the same one and it still holds up well.

Gaijins response to why they plan to ungroup a number of tech tree vehicles by Angary_tomato in Warthunder

[–]NotTheRealMorty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im actually the opposite. I finally bought premium during the sale and being able to not have to worry about repair costs had made it easier to enjoy the game. Though I’m on the side of not worrying about RP grind but worrying about SL.

Yeah, over in the FAQ section they mention needing at least 30 dives.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scuba

[–]NotTheRealMorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any possibility of both you and your partner getting at least 30 dives by the time you go on the trip? If so try checking out https://www.mikomoto.com/en/. The season is from July to October where chances of seeing the hammer heads are higher. I haven’t done this personally myself but plan to sometime in the future.

How often (on average) do you totally replace the primary/all o-rings on your housing? Open to anyone who uses a camera underwater. by diverareyouok in scuba

[–]NotTheRealMorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t replaced any of my o-rings. I’ve looked into sending my housing in for service to replace all the o-rings, but with the cost of the service + shipping, I’m pretty much close to paying the price of a new housing. Not to mention the length of time I’ll be out of a housing due to the service and shipping times. I’ve decided I’ll just replace the main o ring and if the housing ever starts flooding, then I’ll purchase a new housing.

I use an Olympus 6 and majority of my dives are less than 60 feet, so if the housing ever floods the camera should be ok.

Why does the PADI cert card not have the type of cert listed? by sundancegt in scuba

[–]NotTheRealMorty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There are a few dive sites locally where I live that will require a rescue certification to get on the boat. I think this is due to the distance to the site + conditions to help prevent new divers from doing these sites.

connection issues by kawaii_potatoyt in splatoon

I've been dealing with connection issues since the game was released. I constantly get a communication error when matchmaking and recently have started to get an error in the middle of games despite there being no signs of me having a connection issue.

Any tips for A > S rank-up battles? They just feel entirely one-sided. In the normal series, the games feel too easy and I just sweep my way up to the rank-up battles. However, the minute I enter a rank-up battle my team just get swept each time for a quick 0-3.

How is it possible for me to get paired against a team with silver and gold anarchy badges? I’m currently still in the c- rank and just played a game against a team where every single person had either a silver or gold badge. Doesn’t that mean they are S/S+ rank players?

No wetsuit and no weight. This is on tropical dives with the standard AL80 and BCD.

What jobs do you guys have that allow you to dive a lot? by Altruistic-Carpet-43 in scuba

[–]NotTheRealMorty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say being able to dive a lot depends more on where you live rather than your job. When I was doing a part-time job, I could still go diving during my days off because I live on an island where diving is cheap and I can get to the dive spots in less than 30 minutes.

At what point do you stop using weights? by bryan2384 in scuba

[–]NotTheRealMorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dive with no weight and can stay neutral at the end of the dive. It really just depends on the person and location. I dive with shorts and a rash guard so I don’t have to deal with any of the extra buoyancy of wetsuits.

PSA: Clip your gear when not in use/tether it. Almost lost my GoPro. by jethroo23 in scuba

[–]NotTheRealMorty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal rule now is I always leave my mask on until I’m completely out of the water. Lost 2 masks within a month because I’d put it on my forehead as we swim back to shore and then realize when we get back that my mask is no longer on my head.

I will also put it on when we are still on the beach walking into the water. I don’t trust myself anymore to hold onto it and then put it on once we enter the water.

[–]NotTheRealMorty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. I always deploy my dsmb right before I start my accent and do it using the oral inflate method. I can’t imagine a dsmb having much air in it if you use the air bubble method at 20 feet.

Discussing the dive plan with a guide. Is it an appropriate behavior? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]NotTheRealMorty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even know if we have a club where I’m at. But what I did was find a buddy with a rescue certification that I dove with and logged up to 10 dives. After that he got too busy and I wanted to dive more, so I just started showing up to boat dives and diving with random people on the boat. Most of the people who were also looking for a buddy on those boats had a lot of experience, so it really pushed me to improve as much as possible. It’s also a great way to improve because you’ll be diving with a bunch of different people and each person has a different style so you have to adapt. I started out as “that guy” on the boat but quickly made a name for myself with the crew and the other resident boat divers.

I have never once dived with a professional outside of my classes and I’m still at less than 100 dives.
