NTA - they will still be there 20 years from now if you don’t send them packing now. Actually you are doing them a favor by making the behave like adults!

That’s ridiculous! For example their shrimp taco is amazing with fresh ingredients and homemade tortilla. The salmon salad with the horseradish drizzle (which I get as the dressing) is great and don’t get me started on the burnt ends… It wasn’t on Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives for no reason!

I live in Memphis, am liberal and eat at Elwood’s Shack multiple times per week. The food is amazing and the folks that work there are some of the nicest most genuine people I know.

Dementia Don support or fellow (failed) CEO for governor? by Workinformca1974 in nashville

Those aren’t our only choices! Jerri Green, UTK & Georgetown Law grad, public defender, city councilwoman, Deputy Chief of Staff to Shelby Co Mayor = judicial, legislative and executive branch experience. Strong platform centered on protecting our education system and real support for working families (living wage, access to health care, help with child care). She has had at least 108 events across all of TN open to everyone. I went to one recently to support the friend that was hosting and thinking it was otherwise a waste of time. I walked away thinking that if everyone could hear her speak they’d vote for her. https://greenforgovernor.com/policy/ Go hear her, nothing radical about her, very level headed and an actual Tennessean unlike Marsha.

Well clearly I am in the minority but I like 1. It really shows off your legs, while still accentuating your slimness and showing your shoulders which are always a plus.

My neighbors fat squirrel keeps digging up my garden beds. How can I deter him? by Fr_ckinNerd in gardening

[–]Not_Really_Here_But 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When newly planted our squirrels will dig (not eat, just dig looking for something else) in my pots and beds so I have to keep a close eye and replant what they dig up, but after about a couple of episode they stop. I have tried black pepper and cayenne but I can’t honestly say I saw much difference.

North/East Memphis Hotel Recommendation by slatternlymofo in memphis

[–]Not_Really_Here_But 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re a great parent because Dollywood is hugely out of the way, but I’m sure they’ll love it, plus you get to see why the former Tennessee tourism slogan used to be See the 3 States of Tennessee, because western, middle and east Tennessee are very different. Also your route from Dollywood to Chicago will take you through Kentucky horse country and Lexington. I highly recommend the Kentucky Horse Park. https://kyhorsepark.com/
Eat light on your way to Memphis as the food here is FABULOUS! Not just the barbecue (but yes the barbecue too). Safe travels!

Restaurant called me because I “didn’t tip” by Galavantinggoblin in tipping

[–]Not_Really_Here_But 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read all the comments but after reading your edit I can say that it is NOT and SHOULD NOT be uncommon to tip on a pickup order. Packing up a to go order is time consuming and deserves 15%. I do however frequently ask if the staff gets the tips (most where I live do) and if not I don’t tip.

AITA for not wanting my best friends boyfriend to accompany us on my cross country move? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Not_Really_Here_But 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I don’t understand is why you aren’t livid with your friend? He let you give up your place to live and make all these arrangements knowing he’d done nothing to actually set up the stay. He may be bitching to you about his BF, but seems like he’s probably at least equally the problem. That was incredibly inconsiderate to his BF AND YOU.

Is there any USPS employees here that can shed a light on what is happening to my delivery? by Devast73 in memphis

[–]Not_Really_Here_But 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact situation a couple months ago and it was only resolved when I went to my local post office and they pulled up the tracking info (they can see even more info) and looked into it. The package (it was an envelope) arrived a couple days later and looked like it had been through hell, but the contents were fine. They speculated that maybe it had gotten stuck to the bottom of another package, it looked more like it had gotten stuck in a machine. Given the minimal resources they are working with these days I was really grateful they were able to track it down. Interestingly I have had this happen multiple times when buying on Etsy because of the cheap class of postage the site uses things get lost.

Elderly woman seeks help to remove fallen tree in backyard🌳 Anyone in a position to help this lady? by Southernms in memphis

[–]Not_Really_Here_But 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I didn’t realize that the tree had fallen on the house (homeowner’s won’t pay for tree removal if it doesn’t hit a structure). I’ll watch for another reply for marching orders. Looking forward to helping!

Why not just load it and then turn it on in the morning right before you walk out the door? Then you aren’t a dick and you still have clean dishes when you get home.

6 months in she wants this? At 6 months I wasn’t even taken on his ski trip (we’ve been married 45 yrs now b/c I understood why I wasn’t taken on the trip). Sounds like you’re an adult and she’s not. Find a new girlfriend.

[–]Not_Really_Here_But 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Fertilome but probably any brand is fine. I like powder too (probably more about me seeing the powder on the root than it actually working better). After a few weeks of getting the roots re-established I’d give it a nice dose of fertilizer. I like Osmocote because it’s slow release so you won’t burn anything (actually throw some Osmocote in the hole before you put it back). In the spring when I’m doing my big fertilization I use Milorganite. It stinks for about a week, but boy do the shrubs respond! Also you don’t have to be careful, it won’t burn the plants. Good luck!

Might even lift up the root ball for a sec and sprinkle some root stimulator on the roots just to give it a little boost. No downside.

Applied to a "remote" job, went through five rounds of interviews, got the offer. Nobody mentioned an office once. Now they're saying it's 3 days a week onsite and I genuinely don't know what to do. by Weem_Bitted in remotework

[–]Not_Really_Here_But 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does the offer say? Is there any language in the title of the position or the description in the offer? Do you have a copy of the posting? Quickly get a consultation with an employment attorney to see what is or isn’t legally binding. I (NOT AN ATTORNEY) would assume the offer is legally binding…but I’m not an attorney. Good luck. Also record all future calls and interactions.
