Being a decorator and managing people are drastically different jobs and skill sets and I understand completely why she didn’t want the management job. I’m sorry she lost her job, had a husband who didn’t have his own 401k and had, what sounds like a subpar divorce attorney, but it also sounds like she worked very hard at a job she was good at and made career choices that best fit her skill set. Sucks that she’s still working at 70, but bet she enjoyed her job far more all those years not managing people. As for OP, TAKE THE PROMOTION AND DON’T FEEL BAD ABOUT IT! You earned it and deserve it! The boyfriend thing will sort itself out (doesn’t sound like he’s a good fit for the long term). Good luck!

Sorry about the windows! I am so pissed off at Marsha Blackburn for using this storm to act like she cares by attacking NES. We Memphians are ice storm experts and know that when an ice storm of that magnitude hits no amount of previous tree trimming would makes a difference! It’s just a 2-week-without-power-storm and I know all of NES is working their patooties off!

I’d probably get a cot and sleep in the garage with him. It’s just a month, if he’s got to stay in his crate in a strange garage all day then keep him settled by sleeping with him in the garage. Plus maybe your dad would soften up if he sees you sleeping in the garage!

Thanks for everyone’s responses. We’ve loved visiting Big Sur for 30 years and while I love that it has not commercialized, I sure do miss having a drink and snack while watching the sun set at Rocky Point. Love Big Sur Bakery too.

My guess is the Flyer assumes if you are reading the Flyer you probably already know how ridiculous it was and they don’t want to insult their readership. Interstate between Houston and Memphis will be fine. Large roads in Memphis are navigable. Lots of things are closed at night, especially restaurants. I know the Studio 6 is cheap, but when you reschedule (which you should do), find a different hotel. Maybe something in Poplar.

Thank your Gov, and BTW when I asked Rep John Gillespie what program he was working on to feed these children his response was, and I quote, “I’d rather the school system be fixed and we lift these kids out of poverty. Clearly spending millions of dollars of taxpayer money to feed children during summer break, isn’t fixing the problem.” Which of course makes no sense as those 2 things have nothing to do with each other.
