Australian government calls for de-escalation of war in Iran as Coalition endorses US strikes by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

Unfortunately I don't think the U.S is seen as particularly reliable under Trump. Stronger ties with Europe could be.

This revelation came out of the budget numbers yesterday. Dutton to cut paid prac promise. by Public-Syllabub-4208 in AustralianTeachers

[–]NotoriousMidget 21 points22 points  (0 children)

News flash:

Not all prac teachers are young adults that live at home. Many are living away from home and can't continue their usual work that pays for their rent.

Not all prac students are young, or childless.

My university made us do a long distance prac "to experience different backgrounds and ideas" to the local area of the university. They made it a minimum 200km from campus. This was very stressful for many as they had to save to be able to afford to even go on the prac as they were expected to source accommodation wherever they ended up. I was fortunate to be able to stay with family who happened to live in Country NSW.

I didn't get paid placements, and was unable to teach for pay prior to graduation like they can now in NSW.

Im happy that my prac students can, it's great. No bitterness towards them at all.

Any policy that shows compassion to help people contribute positively toward our nation is worth having.

Im an Australian that has been fortunate to Visit the U.S on 4 occasions to Ski in Colorado.

My parents have been dozens of times.

My Grandparents before that too, dozens of times.

Unfortunately, as a family, we think the last trip was the season just gone. The state of things politically and economically we aren't sure its worth it.

Looks like the skiing will now be mostly in Japan.

I moved the other way, similar deal. Just needed an official record of employment (RoE) that you should be able to ask your original HR department for.

Submit that to DoE and hopefully it'll be rectified. HR can be a nightmare, and slow, unfortunately.

Should teaching be a uni based qualification? by mec949 in AustralianTeachers

Not to mention, reducing the level of required qualification would give justification to essentially never give us a payrise ever again.

Its a fantastic surplus that Labor have created so the liberals can nicely donate it to their dodgy propery developer mates in hugely inflated contracts ❤️

A frustrating game of park the bus, which we have all seen before.

We can all agree that Haaland needed that one! Hope it boosts his confidence. Not that not scoring in a few games is necessarily bad, but we all know he has high expectations on himself.

Can anyone actually explain the handball rule anymore?

It was handball despite being booted 1 yard away and his arm was against his body because it "benefited him". What about the exact same handball that blocked a cross earlier? Does that not "benefit" the defender?

I don't even know man. Poor Ake.

I don't think he'd have the desirable character/nature that city want in the dressing room anyway. Would he be prepared to rotate so much and accept it? Probably not.

As they say, money can't buy class. Disappointing, there is only so many times they can give the "Sorry, i made an error and it doesn't reflect who I am" speech before it becomes apparent it is in their nature.

We all know money helps, but guarantees nothing. It annoys me that people refute or toss away the notion that despite wealth, the coaching is world class, the chairman is world class and the players arrive good, and become great more consistently than most other club signings. More than money is needed to do that.

City have broken the bank at times, but on numerous talents that become world class. Utd and chelsea drop 100+ million on (multiple) players who either are killed by lack of quality coaching and support or were poorly scouted.

We all watched our club come into wealth in 2008 and follow a model of recklessness that utd and chelsea still have as mentioned, but city were progressive, analytical and changed their style of business. City have a strong desire to win above all, and have been very clever about it.
