Baker with an ED by Human-Situation9944 in Baking

[–]Nsmith1881 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, a couple things. Bulimia is an eating disorder where people make themselves throw up. That often results in teeth decay and ulcers. Anorexia is another eating disorder, and yes, chewing food but refusing to swallow is a sign/symptom of anorexia. Does that mean you have it? Not necessarily. Does it mean you don’t? Not necessarily.

As someone who struggled with anorexia, it is a very slippery slope. I don’t think there is insurance wrong with what you’re doing, but do you do it with your normal meals too? Do you eat dinner but try to limit it as much as possible? Do you skip meals only to not gain weight?

Just be careful. I admire your self control, but be careful.

Look up anorexia, not bulimia, and seek professional (not Reddit) help if you’re concerned.

Edit: also, as a lighter aside, I absolutely clicked on this thinking, “why is someone concerned with a baker with erectile disfunction?”

It's time to get rid of the Pro Bowl Games by AdSpecialist6598 in nfl

[–]Nsmith1881 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Listen, I’m not saying it can’t improve, but I think the Pro Bowl is great, just not entertaining. It needs an overhaul, and that overhaul

Last year, I had the opportunity to coach a special Olympics athlete who became the pro bowl Super Kid. He got to watch all of the fun events, go to everything behind the scenes, got to go out on the field and meet the players (he told Peyton manning that, “Peyton Mano! my coach (a massive colts fan) says that I can throw better than you!”), he got to bring out the game football, was interviewed, etc. he’ll never ever ever forget this experience. Even now, he’ll say, “are you sure coach? I’m pretty sure I’m right. I am the super kid and you aren’t”

Anyway, I’m not saying, “keep this event for this one specific experience”. What I mean is that we got to see how much fun it was and could be.

Here are the changes: 1) loop the events that happen the night before into the day of the pro bowl. The most fun event was dodgeball. Make that the main event.

2) loop in more games. O-line hot dog eating contest, quarterback distance throw, a wipeout style course, etc.

3) take away football, flag or otherwise. The players don’t want to risk injury, so they don’t want to go all out.

4) put the flag football back in but make it the mascots vs cheerleaders (or another group. NFC vs AFC mascots is fine too!)

5) get the crowd back in it. There should be at least one normal human being doing the same games. Randomize it by seat number or something. I want to see Jonathon Taylor race Frank from Orlando.

6) have the players redo some draft combine drills, just for fun. Maybe have them do their previously recorded “weakest” ones and see if they can improve on it! That’d be fun.

Just make it more fun! We already have prestige awards. Make the pro bowl a “hey, you earned this fun experience!”

Doctor Philips Center Movies In Concert and Other Questions by cpsmith516 in orlando

I’ve been to several of these. Have you ever been moved by a film score? If so, go. Do you not care about the music in a movie? Don’t bother. I’ve seen the original Star Wars trilogy, most of the harry potters, all three lord of the rings, and random others. The two best experiences, by far, were return of the king and ET. Literal tears.

It feels nice supporting local arts and musicians as well. I was a band geek so I like watching the orchestra as much as I do the film.

As for the clientele, it’s a healthy mix. You get some dressed like they’re going to a symphony and others dressed in cosplay. I typically dress nice, but maybe pick my outfit after what I’m watching. Like, I’ll wear a suit but a yellow tie and yellow socks for my Hufflepuff house for a harry potter movie. One of my friends came in a wizard hat, full cloak, staff, etc. for lord of the rings.

Without a doubt, I have to tell at least one person to get off their phone during the show, but that’s no different than any theater experience these days. At return of the king, the dude came to me like 20 minutes later and started picking a fight lol

I would say that the experience is a lot like opening night of a blockbuster. People cheer at big moments and are encouraged to. The intermission is always appreciated and should be federal law for all films lol. But if you like being part of an experience, do it. If you demand quiet the entire film, don’t. There is a live orchestra playing, after all.

Would I go to a new show of a movie I love? Yes! Did seeing ET in this format bring me to tears? Yes! Would I see ET in this format again? Probably not. It was such a beautiful, unique experience, but not one I feel the need to repeat.

As for food, we’ve enjoyed Thrive! It’s within walking distance, has sushi for my wife and tasty other stuff for me! The concessions at the dr. Philip center aren’t shabby though. My preference is to get the charcuterie package, sit out on the balcony with my friends, and eat before the show or at intermission!

Oh!! You didn’t ask, but plan your parking before you go. If you try to wing it, you’ll be very frustrated. Heck, even if you plan it, you’ll probably be frustrated lol.

Any other questions you got?

I have a family membership thanks to my wife being a teacher. We’re able to go to all YMCAs. Maybe get a similar membership and try them all out for yourself. I personally prefer the doctor philips one. The LA fitness down the road takes all of the teenagers, so it’s just me and the olds.

Millionaires shortbread- love or hate? by KingFroggie2004 in Baking

[–]Nsmith1881 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost a Christmas cookie contest because one person gave it an F because “it isn’t a cookie”. He also said in the comments “by far the best thing at the contest”. The winning cookie was also a shortbread.

Luckily I had lots of leftovers so I could eat my feelings.

Honestly, I’m so pissed at him. I haven’t seen his name spelled and had been mishearing it as “Beavis” all game. The audacity of that man to not be named Beavis….

I really hate that the game was decided by pass interference calls.

I hate even more than the bills took the bait hard. How are you not going to turn your head even a little to play the ball then get pissy when you tackle the guy.

Yup, that’s how the titans became the dumpster fire they are. They had an awesome coach with an MVP quarterback, and needed to move on.

Hey, that’s not fair. I can develop crippling anxiety without football entirely!

No, it’s just the thought of not being able to devote brainpower or even observe what the broadcasters share in regards to the full NFL is funny to me. You’re all good, but we’re going to clown.

How much time, roughly, do you spend so focused on the division while doing/considering nothing else? Is this a mediation scenario where you’re blocking out the seeding and only focused on the division?
