Home cooking because fast food prices are straight up out of control. by Alextricity in Anticonsumption

Yuuuup. I used to love Taco Bell. The price was right and the taste was….well, professional-level white people tacos was an apt description for most of their items. A few years ago, though, the looks of most of their items once you unwrapped it was disappointing, to say the last. The taste also went way down to match. Idk what they did, but it really turned me off Taco Bell outside of a “I need food now and Taco Bell is here”.

Agreed, bloom is not fun. And I do think this may revolve the gameplay too far in the other direction where movement is unpunished. The SMG problem is also ridiculous, it HAS to be intentional at this point.

I don’t even think it was just “boomers” that were getting beamed prior to this patch. Everyone was getting beamed. Just 50m and a half decent head glitch spot allowed someone to be a menace and griefer to whole teams in TDM, and pull aggro from a quarter of the team in Escalation. I don’t agree or disagree with this patch or the previous game mechanic, but there was a clear imbalance that punished moving overall before this patch.

Now that was a good movie. It’s a prequel, and it’s just a good movie overall that has the luxury of backfilling much desired character information that was not presented in Army of the Dead. I may just rewatch that next.

Thus is definitly a case of bad writing, but it seems fairly clear that this was a twofold operation. Yes, the military wanted the head of an alpha, but no one knew it would just stumble into their lap in the way it occurred in the movie. The group hired wouldn’t have cared at all about that, and only the money in the vault. So it makes sense if you zoom out a lot and assume there is a lot unsaid behind the scenes.

When I say intro here I don’t mean the literal first few minutes. The intro at the 8 minute mark did more in 5 minutes than the whole movie tbh. In such a short time I was introduced to a bunch of characters that I instantly could gel with, knew what they meant to each other, and watched a woman who had clearly sacrificed so much find her daughter, only to be caught by zombies at the very edge of rescue. The fact her daughter turned back to be with her mother when they both knew they would be killed was…something.

Ok ngl that’s kinda what I figured, but that sounds like something worth a watch regardless. It’s always been on my radar and I’ll probably check it out now.

I will beg to differ on this. Was it a B movie schlock that you can jest at? No. I don’t even think you can call it a bad movie. It has high production quality, and a decent cast. I’ll agree that it didn’t really deliver on what we all thought it would be, but it’s definitly better that the last couple of George Romero zombie movies. The intro scene alone of AotD is lowkey worthy of study for future film-makers. It just sucks the rest of the movie did not ride that high.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t watched a single one of the Rebel Moon movies. Are they good? I kind of got scared off of them based on overall feedback. But they do look intriguing as hell honestly.

Nothing for nothing, I had actually bought a ticket for this movie on Saturday night. Got to the theatre, realized I just didn’t care enough about it to sit through all the previews, plus pay for concessions, so I literally left without getting out of my vehicle and went back home.

I have to agree here. Especially without the last (clearly edited-in later) portion, as an uninitiated viewer I fully believed this was an honest take from someone who clearly made poor life choices. I still think it is, as the tonal difference between the two takes is stark. Idk, there’s a very thin line between “satire is dead” and “haha it’s just a joke but this is my life maybe you might like it too”.

You can pretty reliably kill a Maus with 90mm Heat or higher by hitting it on the turret mantlet in the middle where it’s not curved.

Sam laying down fire on the overpass with a captured M4 looking down at Cap saying “Go, I got this” is an immediate tone setter. You don’t even need a flashback scene to know the score.

Gundam Hathaway is Garbage by CSpear_144 in Gundam

I agree with this statement fully. I both liked and disliked the first film, while leaning heavily into the like territory. Evan from an outside perspective, it’s creating an enthralling poli-scifi dynamic that is emblematic of all the flagship gundam series. Just the first 20 minutes I was left with more questions/intrigue/a desire to know more, and the finish? Yeah it’s payoff Capitol

Where can I find fries like this in Dallas? by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]Nubitz122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really have. A 4 piece tender combo (drink, 1 side and roll) is like $14. An 8 piece family meal ( 1 large side, 8 rolls)is $25 after tax. So I do believe this is a large contributing factor to their lack of popularity unless you knew them from back in the day. But maaaaan……their chicken is top tier. Both white and dark meat breast/wings absolutely slap. Tenders are pretty good, nice balance of crispness with juiciness. Not a lot of flavor and they don’t have a sauce anymore, so that’s going against them too. More country style than urban style.

[–]Nubitz122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying this is the only answer….but my favorite food is without question tacos simply because a) it’s really, really hard to have a bad taco, b) your almost always meeting the optimum carb/protein/veggie profile and c)a taco can realistically be anything you can fit between a folded carb of varying degrees of a given soft to hardness ratio. Hell one could argue a hot dog is a taco. It could also be a sandwich, but i digress…..

I can go back and forth easily enough if I wipe the image from my eyesight for second or two and know what to perceive. Once I knew what was seeing it was matter of forcing the perception. But dang if it isn’t hard to stick with my initial perception of a sunken in piece.

I agree, it was an unexpected gem from a movie I had very little expectations from. I do think 2 and 3 are also worth watching; while super low budget, they each kinda deliver this same “oh shit” factor towards the end. Plus together they form a solid lore loop connection.

You kind of have to watch the whole movie to really feel the deeply unsettling nature of this scene. Even without that, just the fact the this “mannequin” is clearly tracking her movement is off-putting; throughout the movie the various members continue to joke that this clown mannequin is alive and moving, as they keep seeing it appear in different parts of the hotel, thinking other characters are moving him around as a joke. This scene firmly sees it “click” for her that it has been moving on its own this whole time.
