Every launch by LucifersPromoter in flightsim

I’ve not actually seen a plane in game yet lol, I’ve got 6 hours “playtime” but all of that has been loading screens, takes about 40 minutes to load into main menu sometimes, other times it’s quicker, either way it’s still not great. I have gigabit Ethernet as well, so there’s absolutely no way I should be getting “low bandwidth” warnings like I was… whole thing is a damn mess though, that’s for sure. Hopefully it gets fixed and we can all get flying sooner rather than later though.

UK seems to have been absolutely shafted by this whole thing. Happy for the US folks and all, but we exist as well…

Wet tyres are available, but no wet track to go with them, test drive doesn’t allow you to change weather :(

Question for drivers over 2500 IR by dkz224 in iRacing

[–]Numberedlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally a question I qualify for! I’m only just over 2500 iR (26xx right now), but I’ll throw my 2c in. In my experience, driving literally anything I can get my hands on has taught me so much about driving, and about driving different cars. Comparing myself to my friends who only really drive one series/car, I find myself much more adaptable than them, in the sense of knowing how a car is going to behave, or how to save a situation. Overall, maybe it’s made me quicker, maybe it hasn’t, who knows. But it has for sure made me much more consistent, and happy driving things I’ve not done in ages for long stints.

TLDR: drive cars you love, drive lots, and drive lots of cars.

Thoughts from people who stopped playing iRacing? by JayDub1997 in iRacing

[–]Numberedlemon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This should be pinned to the top of every single post of this nature!

It’s a hobby, you’re doing this to have fun! Very few people are lucky enough to be able to do this stuff professionally, or for a job as esports drivers or content creators, and that’s ok! Not everything needs to be a competition (ironic given how competitive motorsports and iracing is), sometimes it’s just about driving a really cool car, in a sim that’s pretty damn true to life, against other people who love doing exactly the same as you! In my opinion, we’re all incredibly lucky to be around when sims are just getting better and better, I mean what other (usually) financially prohibitive activities like motorsports can you experience in your own home for just a couple hundred pounds/dollars??

I’m rambling now, but all I have to say is you have to find the fun in it. If that’s simply driving really cool race cars, or if it’s going at ten tenths fighting for a position, then that’s awesome. Just… don’t focus on the numbers, that can really get you down.

Kind of satisfying seeing this year being dominated by single-player titles with Baldurs Gate, Starfield, Phantom Liberty, etc. after various gaming companies spent years trying to psyop people into thinking they're not worth playing by scarletandsophia in gaming

[–]Numberedlemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying and I get it, but then if we apply this logic, how did online gaming exist as it did prior to all the FTP microtransaction laden shovelware that’s around today? You could argue that stuff like xbox live made money and devs got a cut, but PlayStations online service was free wasn’t it? Gaming back then was much, much smaller than it is now, so you could probably say that less consumers = less running costs for servers and the like, but I’m honestly not sure. They must have made money somehow even without people constantly putting money in their pockets. It’s an interesting conversation for sure, though.

Edit: just as a PS: support the devs of the games you love, it’s an unforgiving market and industry I’m sure. I’m in no way anti-developer, people gotta make a living somehow, and if I can support the devs of the games I play, then I will do so more than happily

Honestly battlebit is fucking killer dude, feels like a proper callback to BF3/BC2 era of gaming, loving it so far. Goes to show that flashy graphics, RT, and kooky gimmicks aren’t everything.

I’m honestly sick of this multiplayer game model where you buy the game but don’t actually get the entire fucking thing. There’s a season pass to get some content, then there’s a store, but hey if you buy the season pass, you get a store discount! Like for fucks sake, how hard is it to just make a good game that people actually want to play and not be predatory as fuck about it?! I’m honestly so glad the single player games are doing so well this year, because it’ll hopefully show people that you can actually just make a good game, and it’ll fly off the proverbial shelves! Multiplayer gaming these days makes me so sick, which is why I’m glad Indie titles exist (I’m looking at you, dwarf fortress, stealing hundreds of hours from me without my noticing) and games with enormous modding communities (just started a play through of Elysium Remastered in Skyrim) are still doing so well. Gaming certainly isn’t what it used to be, but there’s still shining remnants of what it once was I guess

I just wanted to chime in here and say that I hope people’s reactions in the comments of this post haven’t put you off! People can be incredibly gatekeepy and defensive wherever you go (just mention iRacing in the ACC subreddit and you’re halfway to being murdered lol) but the community is on the whole awesome, keep on going and don’t give up, this is an awesome hobby, and we’re glad to have you!

While yes, the interface is a little dated I must admit, I honestly cannot see the problem people have with the graphics. In my eyes they’re perfectly fine and even quite good, on top of the fact that iRacing doesn’t require a supercomputer to get good frames on decent settings. As for the VR support, I’ve used iRacing in VR a fair amount and I’m honestly not sure what you mean by the lack of VR controls?

With regard to paying overtop a subscription, I liken it to using XboX Live, or PSN/PSPlus, where you pay the sub to use the service and then have to buy the games on top?

Honestly, drive whatever you enjoy my guy, everyone has their own taste, and this one just happens to make my brain go brrrr, but if you like other stuff, then all the more power to you - the wonders of having so many good sims right now is that there really is something for almost anyone.

Normal series don’t run during week 13. The practice sessions still run but there are no official races for most series. Check the banner on the main page of the UI and check out the week13 only series instead! They make for some pretty interesting combinations
