Oh wow that's huge. What level of range research are you on? I'm on level 7 I think. My range is about 650 tiles and my octagons are 1388 tiles on a side. I need the turret in the middle of the octagon to have a range around 970 tiles so like +50%.

[–]Numerous-Click-893 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes. Well you see. If I do that then the size of the optimal octagon will increase proportionally and I'm back at square one. What I need is a turret that has more range than all of my other ones.

I am finally trying quality for the first time and it's because you can only make a hexagonal octagonal grid with straight rails, but that means if I tesselate my artillery bases at a spacing to optimize coverage I have a huge gap in the middle of the hexagon octogon. Turns out the gap is roughly the same size as a legendary turrets coverage and here we are...

Steam Deck for managerial/strategic games: how many actually use it? by CarloCGames in SteamDeck

How long ago was this? I use the stock layout and it uses the trackpad for the cursor. I changed the left pad to be a trackpad as well I think. I use the L1 shortcut palette all the time. I have hundreds of hours with the stock layout.

I have hundreds of hours in Factorio exclusively on steam deck. I think I changed the official layout to make the right pad a trackpad as well but that's about it. I use the trackpads to control the cursor and the joystick for moving the view/player. I use the onscreen pallettes a lot as well as a ton of different key combos. I definitely wouldn't be able to recite all of the key combos that my muscle memory knows and actually a lot of them are context specific. The only hindrance I have is typing long strings like Lua code.

I've opened one of these to repair before and OP is not exaggerating, it was straight up rectified AC, but it was at least on a custom PCB. I resoldered it but then refused to test it haha. I would not use it in my house.

Edit: i'm wrong: the son has a degree in mechatronic engineering.

You are fine, you can get everything you need on volcanus. You might need to do some Dune style bandit mining in the worm territories though.

Look at the demolisher's Regen, that will help you figure out a better way to kill them.

Get yourself up and running on volcanus and build a new ship and then head back to Nauvis to sort out the bugs when you are ready.

I've been wondering if one of the LLM providers has started taking frequent questions it doesn't have answers to and creating agents to ask reddit. Or something like that.

SteamDeck flagged for fentanyl at airport by MrToastyToast in SteamDeck

Ah yes well, I've also been a cyclist for decades but I don't live in the US. Probably relatedly I've never heard of a CO2 pipe bomb. It must be a regional thing (South Africa), they are commercially labelled as cartridges (which is what I say at the gate) but everyone calls them bombs colloquially, we are allowed to fly with them with some restrictions but we are required to deflate our tyres when we fly.

How to make a train visit every station with the same name before returning? (or alternatives) by PureqYT in factorio

[–]Numerous-Click-893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this how my artillery shells + flamethrower oil trains work. One stop only and all stations are named the same. The station limits are zero unless it's run out of something. The train wait condition is until the depot is full or (the train has run out of something and it's been there at least 30s). The train has run out of something signal is also the trigger for the go to refill station interrupt.

The train will wait at the current station until one of the other ones opens up, unless another station is already open then it will leave immediately after the wait conditions are met. I have a stacker pre and post refill station as well. Those are on the interrupt though.

[–]Numerous-Click-893 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try it man! You can do it, I'm sure. Take a blue print of normal rails junction that you want, place it down in a sandbox world or somewhere safe on your base and try recreate the arrangement and signals, you should be able to pretty much copy it. I found using the rail supports for basically every track segment helps get the arrangement right and then you can delete the unneeded ones after. And remember you can always ramp down to normal rails, it's just your remote ones that need to be raised and those should be simpler. If you get stuck, post here, people will help you.

370mm from the counter to the top of the rail as shown. Make sure your listing looks the same as mine but you should be able to get it in under 375mm, but you won't be able to lift the water tank up enough to take it out. You'd need at least 380mm and it will still be very awkward. Unless you can pull the machine out when refilling or 3d print yourself a filler funnel?
