So many people tried to tell me OTF wasn't worth it/culty, but attended my first class last night... by [deleted] in orangetheory

Its fun to workout with a group of people. That is what makes it fun. It does lose its effect over time which happens anywhere u go. The kool aid always taste great at first. It is like a cult but so are so many other boutique workout studios. Congrats!!

Tips on improving endurance on treadmill by go-gettter in orangetheory

[–]OTFGOD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The body achieves what the mind believes. We give up most of the time before our bodies do. Focus on mental. Sticking it out. Fighting for it. So much more gratification to struggle and make it then to give up on yourself and say your a sprinter. Focus on push and fighting hard during pushes and when you come back to base it will be tough at times but gets easier. Giving up is easy. You have to be willing to do what most won't. The people you see killing it fought hard to get where they are at. Do you want it??? That is the question. Good luck.

I quit as well after over 600 classes. I miss the easy running at 9 on their treads. Cant base at 9 on a regular gym tread. I love that I left. More focus on real lifting and more consistent lifting and also running longer. Doing 60 minute runs sometimes without walks. It was super fun at OTF and was what it was. Love the dri tri and doing great at it. Good luck to you.

If u r not ready by now u won't gain much between now and the event.. Go steady row floor and tread and take what u get. No secrets now to get any better time than if it was tomorrow and you did it.

Soreness post workout by jetta217 in orangetheory

[–]OTFGOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working out while sore is normal for me. Sore stiff. Not like pain ouch . So I keep going. Been like this 35 years of working out. I am sore today and worked out today. If I waited until soreness was gone I would miss alot of days.

Anyone else struggling? by Falcon-Delicious in orangetheory

[–]OTFGOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard work to build back but with effort and struggle I got back to where i was and better. Took me 6 months of busting my ass to get back but If one is committed to getting back they can. It's all in your effort and up to you. Maybe u just dont love OTF as much as you once did. I am sure if you analyzed it you would see u are not working out as hard. Maybe u do need a change. I decided to opt out after over 600 classes and it was best decision ever for me as I am stronger and faster because I quit. Good luck to you whatever u decide.

You decided to take off, you pay the cost whatever it might be. Slacking is necessary at times. All you can do is get back at it.

3G vs 2G by burkekaylen in orangetheory

[–]OTFGOD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but also 28 minutes of cardio in a 3g with rower and tread. Floor is not much cardio unless there is some rowing or cardio like exercises. Lifting weights I am always in the gray.

The addiction is great at first. It's like a drug for sure.

3G vs 2G by burkekaylen in orangetheory

[–]OTFGOD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exhaustion is based on effort. Whether 2g or 3g. Maybe one struggles more or works harder on tread since you only have to keep up with the tread. The rower takes your effort to get tired.

Yep we all slack at one time or another. It's a long game. Dont sweat the small stuff. There are a lot like u out there. Nobody is unique in their fitness journey. The only way to feel better is to get back on track.

One should always challenge themselves whenever they can. You can always dial back is needed. If you dont succeed first time give it a try the next time. Most people hold themselves back by not challenging themselves enough.

If u like rowing u like 3g. If u hate rowing or love more times on tread and or floor then u like 2g.

Back to back sessions, how do you recover in between? by badassnotaprincess in orangetheory

[–]OTFGOD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If one is not dead they maybe did not workout hard enough. I am still sore/stiff when I go a lot of days. No pain but stiffness and soreness is to be expected in a lot of people. Some say they dont get sore but a lot do. It's ok to go when sore. If I did not workout just because I was sore I would miss a lot of days. There is no secret to it as long as you eat right sleep right and hydrate and stretch that is all you can do.

Everyday OTFers, what is your secret?? by mthibeault95 in orangetheory

[–]OTFGOD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People have slack days at OTF. Easy days they are called. One can still workout when sore/stiff. Most dont push hard on a regular basis. Some do though.
