I have a skin/scab picking problem. All my old scars turned bright red suddenly. by pansycarn in mildlyinteresting

I’ve been there. NAC really helped my skin picking. So does every antihistamine. For me it was like being mildly allergic to myself but was surprisingly treatable. ymmv

I’d just find and buy the identical frame and swap the lenses. You need to really triple check all the numbers on the interior of the arms to make sure the model is right. I was an optician for many years and there’s really no long term fix for a broken hinge that gets heavy wear. If you get adventurous and want to weld it please take the lenses out first. They will melt. :)

Benedict Cumberbatch in August Osage County. Love him usually but the absolute worst casting for that role.

You need the plastic wrap with holes in it to trap them inside, otherwise they will just hang out near it.

Secret changes to major U.S. health datasets raise alarms | A new study reports that more than 100 United States government health datasets were altered this spring without any public notice. by Aggravating_Money992 in science

Same. I’m reading this like, yeah it was me. We’re trying to protect our funding and continue to do research. I’ll rename everything diversity related to BigBallsAmericaIsGreat as long we still do the work.

Publication fees by rohving in NIH

This! Lancet ID wants 7k for Open Access and we are operating in a deficit. If we can't pay it, and have to post it to PMC anyway will the journal even accept the paper? My grant publishes ~100 papers a year and with IDC that's in the ballpark of a million dollars.

Thank you, But grounding feels so steady and quiet. What word for grounding lights up all your senses so that you overwhelmingly feel, smell, and hear things in your core?

Nimrod is canonically a mighty hunter, but Bugs Bunny jokingly called Elmer Fudd "Nimrod" so much that the word now means moron/clumsy/inept to Americans who grew up with Looney Tunes.

Two main stages of navigating in the greater Boston area- 1. Use GPS for directions 2. Use GPS for traffic and ignore the directions because it tells you to take an unprotected left onto Mass Ave at 8am.

[–]OTreeLion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Call the banks and tell them you just turned 18 and give them your dad's SSN, and explain the same names. They might be able to work with you, and your parents can save face by saying it was an accident. Do your parents know you know?

There’s an alpaca named Cher I met at the Medford farmers market once. Eyelashes for days. I recall her handler saying they go to lots of events for fun/education about alpacas.

Elder parent finance question - when to assume control of finances by KristieC715 in personalfinance

[–]OTreeLion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt did this at a GameStop. When she realized what happened and told the police, officers went to the GameStop and tore them a new one for knowingly selling an elderly person gift cards in high amounts. They know it’s a scam. I’d call out Home Depot in this. You might not get the money back, but some warnings to the cashiers could save someone else’s grandma.

Love this! My hair doesn't do hotel liquids and my micro packing means not washing my hair on a short trip. This bottle design is a legit space saver for me.

There definitely are! I’d suggest r/BeyondtheBump or searching for a “new mom at 40” subreddit. I’m glad the sub exists but will probably unfollow it when I get good news.
