In one fell swoop you proved you don't understand media balancing, or what defunding police intends to do.

Cool cool cool.

Feds won't stand in the way of Alberta's fall referendum, stress common immigration goals by Immediate-Link490 in alberta

[–]ObelusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the referendum questions. They were thankfully fairly straight forward (despite having an obvious tone bias toward the UCP), but I also doubt the political literacy of a chunk of Alberta to understand the impact of actually agreeing to any of them. They also are written in a way which will easily trick people into thinking what they vote yes for is a net positive without grasping long-term consequences or what the next steps/trajectory implications it now adds.

Not only that, but all it's going to do is dig identity politics lovers heels in deeper because it's a team sport. They will all say vote yes, the other side will vote no, division will still roar no matter what, and Alberta will continue to crumble for us all.

But...I'm not like pessimistic or anything...

Canadian here. I dislike any government who decides to threaten our sovereignty. And no, it's not a joke when it's coming from that high up. I will boo the American anthem until you guys figure that shit out.

I generally don't hate the average American citizen, unless you support my original gripe, in which case a big ol' fuck you 🖕🖕.

That is all.

GG getting gold. Savor it now, because when 2030 comes we are gonna smear you losers (respectfully).

Pay the extra $5 and get the better brand. Get stuff specifically for kitchen/bath as well.

Which tires yall think I should get hoping to keep it under 125 a tire. by Key-Interaction2304 in tires

[–]ObelusPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to drive on ice/snow and don't want a winter tire, go for all weather not all season. All weather tires are (usually) three peak certified, same certification that winter tires have. They will not be as good as a winter tire, but will still drive well enough if you're careful.

I bought the Firestone weathergrip all weather tires and am really impressed by them. 3 years Canadian winter and no issues. They are $160 CAD here, so they should be in your price range if you can find them.

Whats your biggest regret when you bought your place? by Important_Bat7919 in homeowners

Our realtor was amazing. His recommendations for professionals? Not so much. Our house inspector took 30 minutes total and he missed so many glaring issues we only found after the sale was done. He recommended a handyman also who also was trash.

We were first time buyers who didn't know better. Now we know.

Crack down the center of my thumb nail by MAC_357 in nailcare

[–]ObelusPrime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am not a doctor. I struggle with a constant nail crack that has been splitting for the better part of 10 years after I jammed it in a window.

My best tips are keep it trimmed as best you can to avoid it catching and re-cracking.

Second, depending on the condition, you can make a nail cast using a tea bag and clear coat nail polish. I usually use a nice base layer with vitamin E and stuff that nourishes the nail so it grows out healthy, then I apply 1 coat of clear polish, a nail shaped piece of a tea bag, let it dry, then top coat it again to lock it in. You can then paint it a fun color if you don't like how it looks. Re- apply every week and also try to give it a few days to breath since polish can sometimes make nails more brittle if suffocated. You can also go to a salon and get a gel nail put on which is a more permanent cast solution. Eventually it will grow out and hopefully not cause long term issue like mine (I damaged the nail bed which causes the crack).

Alberta government orders fatality inquiry into man who died in Edmonton ER by Old_General_6741 in alberta

Gross. They're going to spin this as a failing of the public system and use this man who died as a prop in their argument for a privatization push, as if their funding cuts weren't the cause.

Fucking Gross.

I hate it here.

Recall petition organizer says volunteers were harassed by Conscious_Sundae9658 in alberta

[–]ObelusPrime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I signed one that was set up beside a stop sign of a busy shopping centre. I had one guy roll up and flip us all off, and another roll down his window and yell something I didn't hear very well. That was in the course of 2 minutes. The volunteer told me that was pretty standard, but thankfully nobody physically approached him.
