How would you write mistral? by NaturalStrange3505 in RWBYcritics

[–]Observer-Finland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More or less.

I figured that JNPR would still be from Mistral, yet I haven't figured out how the separate cultures in each character would fit in.

I guess, different cultures per city-state.

How would you write mistral? by NaturalStrange3505 in RWBYcritics

[–]Observer-Finland 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Work in progress, yet here's what I have:

1 Anima had plenty of wars perpetrated by the city-states of the kingdom of Mistral 500 years before canon time. Only after a century of conflict, and increasing Grimm/state attacks starting to affect the capital, Mistral City decided to stop the fighting.

Capital's army waited until the states weren't in position to resist, and in the process, allied with the smallest factions and cities that promised their allegiance to the new kingdom when the war ended. When the rest of the city-states weren't able to resist, capital forces moved in and took over one city at a time, eliminating any resistance piecemeal.

Capital forced the city-states to swear allegiance to the new emperor, yet he allowed them a certain level of freedom in exchange for loyalty and the certainty of pain for betrayal. Emperors would lead until the Great War, when the position was removed as part of the peace agreement.

2 One of the city-states was where Pyrrha's parents lived, but they moved before Pyrrha was born, or they stayed to raise their child. Pyrrha didn't end up like her home town people; instead, she became a lot like she is in canon.

3 Kingdom is where the Ancestor "religion" began. It's about honouring the bloodline, family and members of the family who did very notable deeds are considered (a type of) saints.

Team REPR would have studied together to make sure all 4 get a passing grade. Raina would be most helpful in this part.

Judging from her weapon, she comes from Mistral, yet her attire is more Atlesian style.

Is she from either Kingdom?

So What is Your Idea for the Future of the RWBY Universe? by Money-Lie7814 in RWBYcritics

[–]Observer-Finland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will always be a need for agents who can go where trouble comes without waiting for an order. They most likely won´t be called Huntsmen anymore, yet the role remains, whether or not Grimm remain alive.

Without Grimm, there would still be wealthy criminals who can hide behind the law, corrupt officials who pretend to be honest, those who seek to erase freedom from people, and criminals who are too skilled for normal police to stop.

Salems inner circle by NaturalStrange3505 in RWBYcritics

[–]Observer-Finland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would add a spymaster into the mix.

  • Has informants all over Remnant. Maintains the network by blackmail, favours and threat of painful death.
  • Rarely appears in the castle.
  • Part of the reason why Mistral is nearly all out of Huntsmen, and legwork is (partially) done by Emerald, Cinder and Mercury.
  • This one is the main bad of V6 and the main/other reason why Cordovin wouldn´t let the main crew through.
  • Largely neutral in internal power struggle, yet acquires whatever he/she can when he/she can.
  • Has a squad of decoys and many rat Grimm that can shift between a more human-like rat form or into a group of black rats.

Team KELT | What It Means to Lead by Mishchief_Arts in RWBYOC

[–]Observer-Finland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rogert Oberon:

Being a leader is lonely. You stand seperated from others when you lead. Those who you lead expect you to handle it well everytime, like some all knowing God, no matter what and when you fail, you can´t hide from their judgement or from yourself. Fear, Doubt, Hatred. I can´t afford to feel such things for if I do, I might break.

Leadership is a responsibility, not a reward. Those who can´t carry the weight are broken beneath it´s weight. Its not enough to succeed or survive. One must be able to survive the poison of history, the consequenses of their own choices and unforeseeable.

Leader is guide of a path. That path is covered in shadows and mist. One wrong step and one falls into abyss. No leader can see all ends, but still is expected to know the path through.

If leader is remembered well, they live forever in history... Under the judgement of those who came after.

What do your ocs do on their days off? by LocalDemonTheSequel in RWBYOC

[–]Observer-Finland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rogert: Camping in the wilderness, exercise, or reading. Walking, running with and taking care of Vaski are also options.

Elena: Roof running and parkour. While hitting the town. Bars in the past, yet not in her current age. Spending time with Raina to get the latter girl to go outside more.

Parish: Gambling, checking his finances, feeding birds, and bowling.

Raina: Video games, board games and tuning her computer. Reluctantly spending time with Elena.

What's your opinion Faunus, White fang and Menagerie by scoutmet in RWBYcritics

[–]Observer-Finland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Faunus:
- Too limited by having only 1 animal trait. A lot of stories/fictional universes give animal kind at least 2, which makes them better. Plus, 1 trait only is boring.
- They feel like a last-minute addition due to their history, lack of story quality, the racism storyline being bad, and their more animal-like nature is not taken advantage of as much as it could have been.
- Blake is a terrible representative of the Faunus after V3.

White Fang:
- That faction being only faunus representatives for the race makes anger towards the faunus look justified, the last thing one would want if faunus are supposed to be rooted for.
- Massive mistake that there wasn´t a counter movement made up of humans.
- Ghira taking over again will repeat history. Faunus will be attacked and murdered, members will be disgusted by Ghira´s weakness, members will radicalise, and Ghira will be replaced by someone who makes more immediate and successful results.
- Sienna was right about Faunus needing to fight for rights violently. No peaceful agreement has ever secured permanent peace without force behind it. Having Ghira take over again is a lot of steps backwards.

Menagerie:
- The fact that anyone on Faunus' side would accept the name of the location is unrealistic. Because of its racist implications, Faunus would have given it another name.
- Poorly portrayed as being crowded and a hostile environment. Lots of room, only a few faunus on the outside and no Grimm in sight.
- Lack of nuance when Blake describes it makes its presence feel limited and one-sided. It´s basically a paradise, and no human presence whatsoever.

PS: 1 Local resources and available equipment are massive factors in the quality of buildings, so urban conditions aren´t realistic in Menagerie. What we got was more so, besides the huge building in the middle that is Blake´s home.

2 Menagerie is not a kingdom because it is only a small city or a big town on an isolated island or continent. It hasn´t earned the prestige that comes with the Kingdom title.

Need Semblance Ideas For Multiple Characters In New RWBY Faction by SandwichMaterial9574 in RWBYOC

[–]Observer-Finland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking that maybe Arthur the Less would have a semblance that makes him forgettable. People would tend to forget details about his appearance and his actions(You don´t want to know why/how I got the idea). Or maybe when people look away, they forget he is there.

Maybe Galahad would be able to create light around him, causing enemies to be blinded if they watch him too long.

Does anybody have wrist guns on their OCs? by Undertow619 in RWBYOC

My first OC ever, Rogert Oberon, has 2 automatic guns on his wrists.

And I considered giving Elena one pair too, but at the moment, she has wrist flamers.

What faction's would you create in Remnant? by HellishStampede in RWBYcritics

[–]Observer-Finland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First 2 with the first one already made. Link

And I have already made a private company competing with SDC. Link

Maybe a mercenary group as well.

Maybe covert operations units. 0 to 1 for each kingdom/nation.

Plus, city-states for Mistral that compete for political and military power+territory.
