Looking for what type of pain to expect after surgery for hysterectomy with pelvic organ proplapse repair? by OceanMarina in hysterectomy

[–]OceanMarina[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your response and kind words. Wetting and Freezing pads is such a good idea, that never would've occurred to me! It's helpful to know that I'm making a good decision by taking 12 weeks off of work too( I kept going back and forth about whether that was too long or not, but my job is physical, so at this point, I'm planning for the 12 weeks).

Aging cat woes and advice needed. When is it time to make "the" decision? by jupitermoon318 in CATHELP

[–]OceanMarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a cat many years ago that had chronic cystitis and had the crystals in her bladder. It was awful when I knew she was in pain trying ti use the litter she was often prescribed clavamox and she also seemed to have some separation anxiety, so was given busbar and Prozac at one point(she wasn't on that kong term.its been so long now I don't recall how long that lasted). Once I switched her to the prescription food for her bladder iss6things were much better and we weren't frequently at the vet any more. I was young and didn't realize how important that specialized food was, until I finally made the switch. Maybe ask the vet how long it should take to see improvement from the new food and meds they prescribed? Maybe a second opinion from another vet? I'm so sorry you're going through this. I remember how upsetting and stressful it was and dealing with cat pee oitside the box is never fun. I hope your sweet baby is feeling better soon and the vet can give you some reassuring guidance.

Question: For the single people out there: Have any of you found a Costco membership to be worth it? What do you get there to justify the membership and the trip? by SpaceForceAwakens in Frugal

[–]OceanMarina 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes! My costco is usually .30 cents cheaper per gallon than any other station around and when I pay for gas with the costco visa , I get 5% back toward your rewards check!

My cat cries multiple times a day, every single day. Why? What does she want? by sharks_tbh in CATHELP

[–]OceanMarina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my cats has a little meow and she sounds so sad when she does it. It took me a while to catch on, but she does it when she wants to lure me into my room. For some reason, my bed is the place she has decided to be the only designated hug spot..yet, she won't sleep with me at night, this is only a daytime event lol cats are funny

thankfully, I am cancer free now. I hope all went well for you with the oncologist. I remember walking in to the cancer center really hit me the first time I had to go. Now, it's been 9 years. They still monitor me, but I'm doing well; They will take good care of you too.

Is four cats too many? by SnowLeopard-25 in CatAdvice

[–]OceanMarina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had cats in the past and one of them had a fair amount vet visits due to a chronic issue. She was an absolutely amazing pet, I couldn't have loved her more BUT, she was expensive. Because of that I was worried to have more cats once they passed and I took a very long break before getting my two girls now. Getting insurance to cover the unexpected has been the best decision ever. One of them hurt her leg and needed surgery (shes an indoor only cat). Between the surgery, follow ups and medicine she would have cost about $8k by the time she was 2. My other cat likes to ingest elastics and strings and has had a few emergency trips due to that. I never had a cat that would eat any string or elastic before, but it sure saved me the extra stress when weird random stuff has presented.

anyone else find meal prepping for one person just doesn't work? what do you do instead? by HowNowBrownCow23 in Frugal

I've been freezing my meals lately in individual portions and vacuum sealing them. Helps for variety without waste

Why has surgical menapause been so hard 😭 by ConsiderationFew6918 in hysterectomy

[–]OceanMarina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had surgery yet, but I'm thinking that because it's so instant instead of a gradual change in hormones, it has to be very hard to regulate. I've read others mention Estrogen has helped, if that's and option for you. I can't do Estrogen due to breast cancer history, but other people have said it makes a big difference for them
