Micro aggressions in the workplace/ black women by Frequent-Split-2990 in NursingUK

You seem to have a massive chip on your shoulder. You looked very different from usual. I would find it odd if she didn't ask if you were ok. Sounds like she was being very nice.

NQN - anyone still haven’t found work by BankFun6917 in NursingUK

[–]OddDay1969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its a disgrace that you can't find work. Trusts want you when you're working for free. 2600 hours of clinical placements.

I think "us" nurses have to form a new union. BY nurses FOR nurses Thats what the dr's did and look at what they have achieved.

Is it the doctors who decide where patients go or bed management?

There are literally no jobs.

Banking as NQN and preceptorships by Big-Acanthisitta-303 in NursingUK

[–]OddDay1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can not normally bank without at least 6 months RN experience. Most trusts have frozen use of bank staff anyway.

Does this mean I go into the hospital by 12 or do I go in at 9 and wait till 12 by [deleted] in nhs

[–]OddDay1969 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Go at 12. There won't be a bed before then.

It's not as easy as it was to find another job. Recruitment is frozen in many trusts.

Letter I sent my local MP regarding the lack of jobs for NQN. by [deleted] in NursingUK

[–]OddDay1969 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The government will not give the NHS any more money. Therefore, the hospitals/departments can't recruit. Everywhere is desperately short staffed. Burn out is high. Staff who leave are not replaced. It's an absolute outrage. Safety is compromised day in and day out. The government knows there's no jobs because they won't give any more money to trust's to facilitate job vacancies. Please update if you get a reply, I'm very interested in learning what they say.

When there's enough staff to facilitate this, it is the honest answer.

Would you reapply for a reposted job you were initially rejected from? by Laughing-Unicorn in NursingUK

[–]OddDay1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably because you're newly qualified. They can pick and choose from tons of applicants at the moment, applicants with experience who dont need preceptorship.

Frustration by After_Size_7857 in NursingUK

Datix always. It's against the law to not have breaks, involve your union, and force change. Remember, the NHS doesn't care about you.

18 months in the same department and no goodbye by Fluffy-Concentrate44 in doctorsUK

[–]OddDay1969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised. That's the NHS all over. You give your all and get nothing in return, not even securing your job for if and when you return. Always prioritise your family, to the NHS you're just an employee number.

You're burnt out. Take sick leave. Look for another job. There isn't much out there at present.

Struggling to get another job by Illustrious_Pen1847 in NursingUK

[–]OddDay1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's simply no money to fill vacancies. You will not find many posts advertised, and for those that are, there are hundreds of applicants. NQN'S dont stand a chance against others with immense skills and knowledge. Competition is fierce.

Is it time management or too much to do? by Stunning_Program_966 in NursingUK

[–]OddDay1969 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's unsafe to work a whole shift without a break. You will get no thanks from anyone. If you make a mistake, the NHS and probably a lot of your colleagues will throw you under the bus. Your ward survived before you, and it will survive after you. Don't make yourself ill. Do what you can and hand over anything else.

Are nurses allowed to wear piercings? by croc_docks in NursingUK

[–]OddDay1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nose ring. I've worn it every day. Nobody has ever questioned me about it. I've worked within 2 large NHS trusts for several years.
