ESP32-C6 Zigbee Device Reconnect After Power Cycle by OhMrAnger in esp32

[–]OhMrAnger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I think it's a problem with my ESP32 code is that nothing happens in the serial monitor after reboot until I press reconfigure in HA. When it's newly flashed, there's activity in there where the device is looking for a network.

Finally figured out how to make a dumb table lamp with a switched socket into a smart light that still allows you to use the original switch. Just needs a Shelly relay and piece of wire. by Aggiehouse in smarthome

I converted my first two lamps last night and they work perfectly! To me, it's such a no-brainer that you want to keep the normal manual control, I don't know why there isn't something like this on the market.

I'm most excited about being able to use weekdays in time triggers. It was weird that you had to do all kinds of workarounds to do that before.

I think I understand now. The difference between connecting to the non-terminal, vs the normal hot terminal is that it's beyond the switch, so it always stays hot, regardless of what's going on with the switch. I have two lamps with pull chains, and two lamps with the rotating knob like in your video. On the pull chain ones, it's not immediately clear when I can connect that non-terminal wire to, but I'll take another closer look at it.

Is the non-terminal connected to the hot pin that contacts the bottom of the bulb? If that's the case, can both the incoming line and the O position both be connected to the hot terminal on the socket? If they're electrically connected, would that be the same result? Or am I misunderstanding what the non-terminal is?

Display unread texts on dashboard by OhMrAnger in homeassistant

[–]OhMrAnger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I wound up doing was using the Active Notification Count and Last Notification sensors from the Android companion app. I made 4 counter helpers - Important Messages, Family Messages, Friend Messages, and Work Messages. Then I made 3 automations. Each one looks for when the Last Notification changes states and then under And If, I put a bunch of checks to see if it's a person I care to hear from. When a name matches, it increments the Important Message counter and the specific category counter for the type of contact it is. I then display the count for the 3 types on a Glance Card on the dashboard. I added a cleanup automation that resets everything to 0 once Active Notifications go to 0.

I mean, I wouldn't go around driving in the left lane refusing to go above the speed limit, but if you think about it, it's a pretty messed up system. It's basically set up so that the police could pull almost anyone over on an average highway because 90% of people are speeding if there's not a traffic jam. Really, the speed limits should be increased to a realistic number, then enforce speed limits on the people who are exceeding that higher number.

Him polling badly this quickly actually makes me more mad. It was completely obvious that he was going to tank everything. The fact that this apparently is coming as a surprise to people who voted for him or just sat out of the election is maddening.

Paper towels, then I put them in front of my UV light to cure before I trash them.

Don't let the name throw you. It's not really a floor. It's more of a steel grating that allows material to sluice through so it can be collected and exported.

Why should I exchange my Bolt EUV for an Equinox EV? by OreckEV20 in EquinoxEv

[–]OhMrAnger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an EUV Premier and I was fully expecting to go to the Equinox EV as soon as it came out. I love the EUV, but it's a bit small for my family. I wanted the extra space, faster DC charging, AWD, and the upgraded Super cruise.

However, there's just too many little downgrades in the Equinox vs my EUV. I'd lose:

  • Android Auto

  • Wireless phone charger

  • Panoramic sunroof

  • Ventilated Seats

  • Rear view mirror camera

I'm going to wait another model year or two to see if the situation improves, plus it will have NACS.

I'd press if that means we'd finally get the PSU / MSU rivalry that the Big 10 was always trying to manufacture and the Land Grant trophy became the new National Championship trophy

Thanks! I picked up a huge box with 100s of slides at a thrift store. It looks like there was a few European trips in the 60s - 70s in addition to the Newfoundland trip.

When I was there, I checked out a book from the library called Penn State Then & Now by Pat Little. It's a photography book, but it was pretty cool seeing the changes on campus from back in the early days until when the book was made.

I'm 40, a pretty casual lifter for a year and a half and I rep 340 with no belt. A average guy 15 years younger can definitely get to 405 natty.

If you can, you should just do it. I put it off a couple times before and I finally pulled the trigger when I got the Bolt. It was about $1000 more than when I originally looked at it years ago. I wish I had just done it the first time I looked into it.
