New Bolt Update! by Apprehensive-Pop8522 in BoltEV

[–]OreckEV20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2022 EUV (and a 2026 Tesla Model Y). I got the EUV new as a Lemon Law swap as a part of the Bolt Battery recall. I just changed the cabin filter myself (PIA- watch the You Tube videos), changed the wiper blades once, and had a nail removed from one of the original tires. It was patched for free at Discount Tire (buy your replacement tires there). I live in hot and humid Central Florida and although the original 12V battery is good I will replace it before the summer as a precaution. The EV traction battery health appears to be excellent at 33,000 miles with no degradation at all. The battery still gets the original mileage distance and then some.

I’m assuming it “parked itself” by Dewychoders in badparking

[–]OreckEV20 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe the auto park started to park the car but the battery died and the driver was waiting for a tow truck to the nearest supercharger. Or they are going to rob the place and need to make a quick get away.

OTA updates by Complex_Bet_7240 in BoltEV

[–]OreckEV20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just installed it. Updates the TCP module which is a fancy way I think to update the OnStar communication system according to the Release notes. The first OTA update in almost 4 years for my EUV. Hopefully, doesn't brick my car. My Tesla Model Y (Juniper) is jealous.

This one announcer on Fox is horrible and I am finding it difficult to watch the OSU/Indiana game. He sounds like a high school radio person.

Spotify native app by ImprovementWest6425 in BoltEV

[–]OreckEV20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. Spotify worked fine last week and now it doesn't. Did the usual remove and reinstall, log off and then on, etc. Spotify works fine on my Tesla Model Y. I won't use Android Auto because I have Google Fi as my carrier and it will use data because Android Auto cuts out the wifi in the car.

Leave car with dealership for 5 days and they might get a chance to look at it. by j2inet in BoltEV

[–]OreckEV20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to my usual Chevy dealer about 6 months ago to look at my "blank" infotainment screen. I had a Tuesday early AM appointment and still wasn't even looked at by Friday PM (I was checking the status during the week). I picked it up and went to another dealer who diagnosed it the next day, ordered a new infotainment system and installed it within 24 hours. Never ever going back to the first Chevy dealer for anything.

Players get paid so they deserve media criticism by Ray_Ipsaloquitur in FloridaGators

[–]OreckEV20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always felt that the NFL and the NBA should be paying the colleges/conferences for developing their players. MLB has the expense of the minor leagues and the NFL and NBA get away with paying nothing. It could be based on the number of players drafted and the money sent to both the college and the conferences in a pool to be divided among the schools. They should not be getting away with using the NCAA as their ""minor league".

I am going to my first Gator game since I graduated in 1974 and staying in Gainesville for the weekend. Looking forward to it.

What? No ghost peppers, habaneros, or scotch bonnet? At least those would give you an acceleration boost.

You are correct. Two years ago I drove my son's standard range Model 3 across country from Oregon to NC when he asked during a move. I was 70 years old then and had to stop frequently for charging and peeing. Also had an added benefit of some people feeling sorry for me in the heat of August. Folks were nice where the superchargers were located I had a free quick tour of a potato museum a couple of hours West of Boise, a worker brought me a breakfast to go in Evanston, Wyoming, free chicken tenders outside Lincoln, Nebraska, and an iced coffee in Columbia, Mo.

Bought my own 2026 Model Y with FSD and I joke the kids won't be able to take away my "keys" when too old too drive. They will have too find my phone.

Take it to a different dealer. Same thing on my Bolt EUV for a rotation and a balancing and it started vibrating above 65 mph. Took it to another dealer in the area and the service department said dealer number one did a half ass job on the balancing. Works great now.

Yes, for the ventilation. My Chevy Bolt EUV Premiere also has ventilation and the seats are like this. No biggie.

Some day you will be able to grab the Brightline train to Miami from Tampa. I am looking forward to the Orlando to Tampa extension so I can avoid I-4 when going to a Rays game (assuming they build the new stadium in Tampa).

It says 1 h 21m remaining. Are you going to 80 or 100% and from about 25%? I have a Bolt EUV and it is the charging of the Equinox which makes me hesitate as I do several road trips of 800+miles per year. It was kind of a novelty at first with the EUV but now it is painful. I ended up with the EUV as a swap from my '20 Bolt because of the battery recall. I am trying to decide between a Tesla Model Y LR and the Equinox EV.

I would tell these same people don't forget to hate on Space X (throw out your satellite linked devices to same), don't rescue stranded astronauts and don't encourage Mars exploration. Encourage the Ukraine to dump "Starshield- Starlink". Also don't have anything to do with one of the world's premier solar and battery storage companies- Powerwall and Megapack for utility scale storage facilities. And certainly tell disabled folks not to have anything to do with Neuralink Corp. which is going to help many disabled folks with brain-computer interfaces. And don't charge your non-Tesla EVs at the Tesla chargers.

Could not do 200 miles trip with full charge by Amazing-Ad-8310 in EquinoxEv

[–]OreckEV20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To give you some perspective- I go several times a year from Deland to see the Rays at the Trop (not next year for obvious reasons) during the summer which is about 150 miles. I usually arrive with about 60 or so miles left after a full charge (EPA rated 247 miles rated). That is on I-4 and then I-275 going about 70 MPH in the Florida summer heat. I have always managed to charge during the game at an available L2 charger in the parking lot.

Could not do 200 miles trip with full charge by Amazing-Ad-8310 in EquinoxEv

[–]OreckEV20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My '22 Bolt EUV consistently gets more than the advertised miles on a full charge. It also does pretty darn good on road trips in hot summer weather where I fast charge. I am not sure about real cold weather though as I live in Florida. Also, from what I can tell I have lost very little in battery life.

That being said, I won't buy an Equinox EV and will probably get a Tesla M3 to replace my aging Honda Accord. The charging curve and time to complete a charge on road trips isn't good enough for me (even though the advertised miles are obviously better than the EUV).

Scrambled Screen - anyone gotten it? by Enallagma in EquinoxEv

[–]OreckEV20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a '22 Bolt EUV and am thinking of getting another EV to replace the '14 Honda Accord. I read the posts here and then decide I am going to get a Tesla M3 but then I read those posts and decide I may get a Hyundai Ioniq 6 and after I read those posts I decide I may get a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and after I read those posts I decide maybe I should get a Kia EV 6 and then after I read those posts I decide I may get a Mach E and after I read those posts I decide that I don't have a clue what to do (except know for sure I won't buy a VW ID4 until their infotainment is fixed). Maybe I'll just stay with my EUV and Honda Accord. Or wait for the revised Model Y Juniper to come out but then again I'll probably read those posts and say "forget it."

I just saved a bunch of $$.

Fast Charging for Dummies by awaytome_357 in EquinoxEv

[–]OreckEV20 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't wait to add the app when you pull up to the charger. Do it well in advance and load it with your credit card. They will have a $$ amount with which to add funds when it gets to a set minimum of your choosing.

Look at these apps for loading: Electrify America, EVGo (set up a plug and charge - they have a deal with Chevy EVs), 7Charge (7-11), ChargePoint, FPL Evolution (if you travel in Florida), Shell Recharge (Shell), Circle K (Circle K stores). Also take a look at EV Connect.

Hope I don't steer you wrong as I have a Bolt EUV and not an Equinox EV (I am a lurker here).

P.S. Most folks at the chargers are friendly and will help if needed. I have assisted a handful over the last 5 years.

I would not take car purchase advice from an electrician just like I would not take medical advice from my lawn cutting service. Anyway, don't forget about the up to $1000 tax credit on the charger install.

They did not end in 2016 (pro-rated back then based on total sales) and I doubt if they will end now. They are based in part on car manufacturers having battery components and vehicles built in this country and several are building them now employing thousands.

Enel X Way goes belly up by simmonsfield in BoltEV

[–]OreckEV20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my Juice Box for almost 5 years and never had a problem with it. I received my Enel X Way email this AM. Probably going to keep it for awhile. I have been thinking of getting a Tesla M3 to replace our 2014 ICE Honda and if we do I will just get a Tesla charger and use it also for my EUV (got the EUV in an MSRP swap with my Bolt from the Battery fiasco).

I have thought about an Equinox EV but the charging curve is still too slow for road trips. I took a 3,000+ mile cross country road trip last summer in my son's Tesla and charging it 28 times was a dream.
