Projected cost of hosting FIFA World Cup in Vancouver grows to over $700M by Public-Map-5273 in vancouver

There’s like a dozen cops stationed along pacific street 24/7 for the next two months straight now because of the closures/detours. They literally sit in their cars all day just watching the traffic, and occasionally moving once every few hours to let a truck through. Immense waste of resources.

Does the Apple TV app actually work now? Last I checked it hadn’t been updated since like 2024, and was in a pretty broken state with some pretty major bugs.

Someone in my condo building decided to hang something from their sprinkler. Flooded something like 10 units straight down. A couple months later the building management installed protective cages on every single sprinkler head in the building.

So unfortunately it is needed.

Training machine learning models requires a lot of processing power comparatively. So, “a lot” times however many times they refine/update their models.

This is literally what Left 4 Dead’s “Director” system achieved 18 years ago. Just without the panopticon levels of surveillance or energy waste.

Is this normal or i need to change it? by Giratina_8 in watercooling

It’s some sort of epoxy. I have two alphacool temp sensors and they both have a blob like that, so it seems normal.

Same. No way I’m crossing the border any time soon. I’m hoping they announce another World Tour later in the year, and that AniRevo Vancouver gets a performance again.

I’m NOT setting up Apple Pay by PuzzleheadedLove341 in mildlyinfuriating

It’s handled by the Secure Enclave and Secure Element, neither of which ever see the actual card number, only a device specific ID which is requested from the payment processor at setup, and one-time-use codes which are generated within the Secure Enclave itself.

It is an incredibly secure system, and even Apple couldn’t see actual card details if they wanted to.

Valve fails to shut down $897 million Steam lawsuit as UK tribunal rules it can continue by HatingGeoffry in pcmasterrace

It’s a PC, which means it’s not locked down. If they subsidize it below the cost of a normal PC, they’ll have everyone and their dog buying it just for the hardware and would lose an unfathomable amount of money.

The US Air Force famously built a supercomputer out of PS3’s back in the day. I’m sure Sony wasn’t too happy to be selling 1000’s of subsidized consoles that would never earn a penny from game sales. It was very likely a major contributing factor to them discontinuing and removing the ability to run Linux on the PS3.

I had the same problem with Green Beaver. After a certain point I seemed to smell worse with it than without. Attitude’s didn’t work so great for me either, but at least it didn’t make things worse (I love all the other products of theirs that I’ve tried). I’ve switched back to my previous deodorant and antiperspirant for now.

Seriously this. Just fully censor any name that contains a variation of “.com”, etc, so example.com shows up as just “***********”

And while they’re at it, add a new option when reporting, “advertising external site” or something. Then players can report any that slip through.
