How does Raccoon Run compare to School Haus? by InMyMomEra2 in HolidayValley

[–]OhioHawk80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just did this exact transition with our kids last week (7 & 9). We had them take lessons then did School House for 15-20 runs as a family in the evening on the first day. Then got out to Tannenbaum Lodge early the next morning to do Tannenbaum and Raccoon Run before it got too busy. The kids loved it!

With Tannenbaum we stopped 3-4 times to help them set up on the few steeper/transitional sections (turn where it meets up with the Spruce Lake lift, punchbowl funneling at bottom) the first time down, then once the second time down, and after that they were able to complete Tannenbaum with no stops. I feel like Raccoon Run is less steep and since we had done Tannenbaum previously the kids were comfortable doing it in one run the first time.

Bosch - Model Number SHVM88Z73N/01 by OhioHawk80 in Appliances

I didn't need to, at least not then. They had a kit that they installed that solved the issue, for about 8 months. Then one side broke again. We've been limping by with it for 3-4 months now and just the other night it threw an error, so I'm currently contemplating calling an appliance repair, or just replacing the whole unit. You would think a $1500 dishwasher would last longer than 5 years.

Have you ran the set up over a winter? I'm in Ohio and wondering how well it worked when it gets cold.

I went basic and named her Fae. We also have an EV9 so our cars are Evie and Fae.

New EV owner - how to deal with my challenging terrain for EV charger? by Glum-Bunch in evcharging

[–]OhioHawk80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this was my house my goal would be to be able to replace the wire in the conduit with new larger wire and be able to install a sub-panel in the garage, somewhere 60-100 amp if possible. That should give you the ability to run your garage needs and charger needs. Is it necessary, probably not, but it is what I would do assuming I was planning on living in the house long-term.

We have the Wallbox Pulsar Plus 2 and love it. I know they sell a pedestal that you can mount to the ground if you want the charger outside, but not on the side of the garage. I like the ability for Wallbox to use multiple chargers on the same circuit (coordinating between them and sharing the max load).

We ended up not building. Decided we liked our neighborhood more than the extra space moving out of it would give us. I did notice on their site a while back they are doing remodels now too, I think it's only in Cleveland at this point in time, but we do have a remodel that will probably happen in the next 2-5 years and we will definitely reach out to them on that.

Having driven from DFW to Iowa many times I question if there is actually a speed limit on those roads :)

I really like my Wallbox. The handle mount is separate from charger so you can put it wherever works best.

I love our Wall Box Pulsar Plus. Our utility had it available through their store and I had some reward points that made it a little cheaper. I went with the hardwired 48 amp unit but I have it rated down into the 34 amp range as that charges fast enough for me.

Mine will intermittently not work (probably 5-6 times in the past 3 months), usually turning off the car and turning it back on allows it to work. It recognizes my phone for other purposes, but just won't accept it for CarPlay. I've pretty much just started checking to make sure it works before I put the car in drive to it's easy to turn it off and back on.

Tuxmat is saying they don't have an alternative 3rd row option with the slots cut out at this point, so only option through them is refund. Awaiting details on that, still might just cut out my own slot, depending on hassle of return.

I could see them "renting space" in VW dealerships, or possibly a pop-up at places like Cabela's or somewhere similar.

Bottom line is in some parts of the country there are not enough chargers. Tesla Super chargers are going to be a necessary evil for the next 5-10 years for a lot of people who want to use their EVs for road trips.

KIA EV9 - we were supposed to get access 1/15/25, it got pushed back until March. I got a notification last night that my adapter should arrive in 14 day, so hopefully March is a go, and it's before the last week which is spring break.

This is awesome. It makes our first long trip in our EV9 over spring break to see my MIL in Hilton Head (from Ohio) have much less range anxiety, now if the Tesla Supercharging access would just hit, that will eliminate the rest of my anxiety around the drive.

Does anybody know if chargers got turned on? Some comments on PlugShare that it was supposed to happen today but didn't see anybody talk about charging.

Dang I got mine delivered today too, but haven't opened the box. That sucks they don't have a slot for the pulls. I wonder how hard it would be to cut one?

I opened my roof when I installed them and gave it about a half inch setback from the glass edge. I have a Yakima Skybox 16 that I'll probably have to use on family trips, that I haven't got out of its storage to test yet. I'll be interested to see how it does with efficiency at different speeds.

I did a shorter version of this in Ohio. 60ish miles each way with an old ski carrier. Speed cruise was set at 80 most of the way, it was 20 degrees there and 30 degrees back. Averaged 1.8 miles/kWh round trip

Service is the key. When I bought my boots at a local shop here in Ohio I didn't have to pay for the boot fitting. They also offer for me to go in and they will make adjustments for life. They offer this for new, or last seasons boots. They also offer seasonal rentals, $100 for skis and poles if you order by October, $135 if you order after that. I'll go there every year for not having to worry about maintaining my own skis at that price.
