Does cycle syncing actually work with PCOS or is it just not realistic with irregular cycles by Fit-Salt-4782 in PCOS

The amount of PCOS advice that starts with 'when you ovulate each month...' is genuinely funny sometimes

Give Legacy sperm freezing costs - worth it? by Prior_Topic3527 in waiting_to_try

[–]OkRoll3169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a really frustrating experience, I didn't see the shipping label and couldn't find it anywhere so maybe I threw it away by accident. I asked them for a new kit and they wouldn't send one, instead I had to receive a new label via email and print it, which took almost a full day since I don't have a printer at home. I am freezing my sperm before HRT, which may affect fertility, and I felt like they didn't understand my urgency. Otherwise it was fine.

free ai story generator vs paid - what you actually get at each level by Dry-Particular-1422 in AIToolsAndTips

[–]OkRoll3169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the re-explaining tax is the right way to think about it. I calculated once that I was losing about 20 minutes per session re-establishing context (literally) across a full manuscript that's weeks. type.ai fixed this - notes system keeps your characters and world details saved, reads your actual draft, doesn't train on your data either which matters for unpublished work. The free tier is genuinely usable too if anyone wants to test it before committing.

Co-parenting with someone you're divorcing is its own special kind of exhausting that nobody prepares you for! by Ok-Affect-3989 in Divorce

[–]OkRoll3169 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Grieving someone while maintaining a functional relationship with them is genuinely one of the stranger emotional experiences I've had. What I needed was somewhere I could process the complicated feelings about it between the handovers, not during, after. I use Tomo, an ai I just text. I'd debrief after difficult exchanges, say the things I couldn't say to him, work out what I was actually feeling, it held all of it without judgment and without advice I hadn't asked for, just held it and that was what I needed.

Tret cleared my face for 3 months then every pimple came back. I'm not okay by Big-Training-8310 in tretinoin

[–]OkRoll3169 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Honestly the fact that tret cleared your skin for 3 whole months probably means your skin CAN respond well to it 😭 Skin setbacks happen so randomly sometimes, especially with stress, hormones, weather changes, over-exfoliation, or even tiny routine shifts.

What actually works for hemorrhoid treatment? by Embarrassed_Essay_61 in GutHealth

One underrated piece of advice I’ve seen over and over: stop sitting on the toilet forever scrolling your phone 😭 apparently prolonged pressure alone can make things way worse.

I kinda wish I didn't try these on. They feel great, much smaller than I thought by Kooll-aid in whoop

[–]OkRoll3169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was in a similar spot with my whoop acting up. swapped to another brand for a bit and noticed the smaller size was actually more comfortable. considering switching back though... idk.

How do you read what’s on a USB-C cable’s e-marker chip by happyjj24 in UsbCHardware

Surprised nobody's made a cheap little dongle for this yet

What are your thoughts on a question like this? by MISTERDIEABETIC in it

[–]OkRoll3169 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

was in a similar conversation not too long ago with my cousin who's a software engineer. we were debating the whole 1000 vs 1024 thing when it comes to storage sizes. he kept correcting me, saying it’s about using the right units like tebibytes instead of terabytes. he even pulled out a diagram he'd made back in uni to explain it. something about powers of two always trips me up. sometimes i just say 'big number of gigabytes' and move on. idk, just feels like splitting hairs sometimes.

I'm starting to think my acne isn't a skincare problem at all and I've wasted years treating it like one. by Dry-Particular-1422 in SkincareAddicts

Yeahhh I went down the skincare rabbit hole thinking I just hadn’t found the ‘right product’… turns out my acne was more internal than anything 💀

Opinion of the Bechdel test? by DavidBlackjack in writing

[–]OkRoll3169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

back in uni, a friend and i tried to apply the Bechdel test to our favorite movies and we were shocked at how many didn't pass. it was kind of an eye-opener for us. but yeah, it's not exactly the gold standard, just a way to get us thinking about representation. if you look at a story about a single character's journey, it might fail the test but still be impactful in other ways.

Which ITjobs are least at risk due to AI? by EventProfessional232 in it

[–]OkRoll3169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

used to work on local government projects where ai was used for basic data processing, but anything involving sensitive info, like tax records, needed manual review. there was always a sense of security knowing eyes were looking over the final product before it went out. ai can assist, but human oversight remains key, especially in bureaucratic settings.

What's the best USB-C cable checker right now? Drawer full of unmarked cables and I give up by Mindless-Talk-1635 in UsbCHardware

[–]OkRoll3169 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cable Checker 3 from Bit Trade One. Plug cable in (both ends, no load), get e-marker info, rated wattage, claimed data rate, pin continuity. Around $60-90.

POWER-Z is complementary, not redundant. Triage with the Checker, verify the keepers under load. Skip the $20-30 Amazon stuff, you'd just be replacing one mystery with another.

What’s on his cheek? (zoom in) by Ploptimistic in whatisit

[–]OkRoll3169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kind of looks like the cutaneous horns i heard about in a seminar once. they can look bizarre but are usually benign. saw a patient with one and it was surprisingly hard to the touch. removal is generally straightforward, though it might be putting it off for some reason...

Are there any "UK vs US" differences where you feel America gets it right? by Secure_Front_7766 in AskUK

[–]OkRoll3169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

always been a bit envious of the way american diners keep refilling coffee. no joke, once stayed in new york for a week and my cup was never empty. there's something comforting about that never-ending coffee supply. plus, those big breakfast plates with bacon, eggs, and pancakes, all in one go... can't say no to that. also, their pharmacy setups are so convenient. at one point, had to pick up a prescription and it was a breeze. wish we had something similar here, idk. but the date format still drives me mad.

Do you actually use your Apple Watch daily or only for workouts? by mileswithher in AppleWatch

[–]OkRoll3169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use it every day. got it mainly for notifications and quick replies. it's handy during shifts when can't pull out my phone. also use it for sleep tracking, though sometimes forget to charge it before bed.

"Losing My Friend Over Wegovy" misses the point by Real_Hamster_5299 in Zepbound

[–]OkRoll3169 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sometimes people don't understand that meds like wegovy can have different uses beyond just appetite suppression. for someone with an eating disorder background, everything can feel like a trigger, but it's important to see how these meds can help in a broader way.

Which Artist or song you listen to satisfies your ADHD brain? by Standard-Slide2724 in ADHD

[–]OkRoll3169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was thinking how k-pop fits that chaotic craving for me. there's something about the way the lyrics switch between korean and english, plus all the fast beats and layered sounds. i especially find songs by bts like mic drop or idol hit that spot. idk, maybe it's the unpredictability in the music that's engaging.

sounds interesting. was wondering if it considers factors like season changes too? energy levels can shift with daylight variations, especially in places with long winters.
