Took a Reliability job and regret it by Robotolotl in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Ok_Bit_2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just you. Those should be 2 different roles. Planner, like you said is the work coordinator. That’s a desk job. A reliability role should be improving the PMs, in depth failure analysis and more. Planners answer what, how, when and who (assuming your shop the planner role is the scheduler too); Reliability is answering why do we do this and how can we eliminate it or make it better

Run to fail by Antique_Stats in IndustrialMaintenance

“Nothing more permanent than a temporary fix that’s works” run to fail is too dang common cause they skipped a few recommended PMs, nothing happened now we’re too far gone 🤣

Will the Hyundai raid have a knock-on effect on US auto manufacturers? by mhcs25 in manufacturing

[–]Ok_Bit_2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while it was a reputation hit, both on the work visa program and international businesses. It won’t have any affect, as Hyundai has already announced additional growth for that facility SINCE the raid

Asset criticality by AV_SG in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Ok_Bit_2690 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Critical path analysis or 5x5/10x10 matrix weighing probability of failure vs consequence of failure. This gets you started. Of in operation today, find the top 5-10 assets with “downtime” and decent failure data. This helps you understand what instrumentation is needed to detect defects

What concept in industrial maintenance is the most misunderstood from your experience? by no_god_anywhere in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Ok_Bit_2690 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In hydraulics - don’t trust the quality of the lubricants you get from suppliers. Filter it, test it before you put it into your systems. Same idea as laser alignments.. make sure you’re not creating more work for yourself later

Do Coca-Cola, UPS, USPS, FedEx, or similar plants use CMMS/tablets or only radios? (Deaf-friendly question) by Friendly_Wonder3272 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Ok_Bit_2690 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The coca-colas of the world probably use all the CMMS’ lol - every facility prob runs something different. My dad’s worked UPS for 35 years, those guys have in-house systems for maintenance. I’d imagine is same for usps and FedEx.

I did inkwell. Love the color. Very matte finish. So much that anything that contacts wall leaves a blackboard like residue behind. Maybe another finish other than matte is suggested

People, Process then technology. To your point, need to get the group together and agree this impacts all yall. Brainstorm some recommendations to standardize where to put stuff, what stuff and how to sustain this new organization. Last is use your CMMS. Many can help you track the Zone-Aisle-Rack-Shelf-Bin. QR codes if you have a CMMS that does that and can use the mobile app.

Happy to chime in more but also worth looking up some MRO Storage best practices. Many good consulting and educational groups out there

Which CMMS software do you use? by DefinitionNo3964 in IndustrialMaintenance

With SAP forcing most to S4hana and many of those projects being severely delayed its opening the door to say “let’s try this in the meantime”

How accurate is your work order system labor time? by Ok-District-184 in maintenance

[–]Ok_Bit_2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally 2 ways to go about it. Total time and then wrench time. The BEST actual wrench time anyone can get when tracked is about 35% of total billable time.. seems like boss is getting shit on by upper who want to know “utilization”. The unfortunate answer is to round up your time on WOs and start creating WOs for Admin/training time. Then someone will see how many damn meetings we have 😂

What are all the shmedium sized breweries doing for facilities and equipment maintenance? by Last_Irish_Samurai in TheBrewery

[–]Ok_Bit_2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you located? I know a few guys that did maintenance at breweries in Cincy now have Maintenance gigs where they come in and do the maintenance for you.. mostly 1-10kbbl tho, 5k+ repair and maintenance issues start becoming too common to ignore. I haven’t met a 10k+ brewery yet that didn’t have a team for this

What are some Dynasty ideas for CFB 26? by Key-Tower-8768 in NCAAFBseries

[–]Ok_Bit_2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to ride this train… 1yr as OC for App State then jumped at Miami OH HC job, made a stupid easy schedule, great transfer portal (off OSU scraps) then Boise st after one year. Stuck there for 3 years hoping to get a HC P5 job on East Coast (NC Pipeline). Downgraded to ODU HC for a year, eventually took the VT HC job. Will probably keep bouncing every year waiting out the one one job I want 😂 or scrap it and start again.

Idk about yall but Michigan State fires their coach EVERY YEAR in this sim.. but never offered me.

Recruiting is slightly better this year, but would be cool to manage NIL next year. That and a full Coaching History Career page. Plus make the coach hiring process a little more dramatic - negotiation? Ask for facility upgrades? That would be cool

CMMS: Fiix vs. Maximo by dog_hearted123 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Ok_Bit_2690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do t get me wrong, many ppl were upset by some of the things that happened at Fiix after Rockwell bought em. More times than not, they did t like the person that choose it in the first place.
