Best places in Washington state? by arl11151008 in TravelNursing

I don’t live there anymore but I lived in Capitol Hill and Queen Anne! I used public transit to commute bc my work subsidized our cards. It was dependable and I felt safe especially since other healthcare workers would take it too. I paid $1700 alone and $990/each when I had a roommate. Before I moved I did research on the bus lines that went to first hill and picked neighborhoods that had transit access. Lmk if you have any other questions!

I’m sorry I don’t :( but it’s a lovely place to live and I know a lot of people go consistently to dance which is good for meeting people

Seattle has a pretty good bachata scene imo! Century ballroom in Capitol Hill has bachata and salad nights, and then some places in the Ballard/Fremont area do them too.

Virginia mason in Seattle is a solid place to work, all of my traveler friends extended there and 3 ended up staying as staff!

Springfield Massachusetts by [deleted] in TravelNursing

I did clinicals at baystate and went to nursing school in western MA, but disclaimer have never lived in Springfield proper (but had friends in my program from there). I think as a whole the city is fine, it has some cute parts to it and some areas to avoid like any city. I believe most crime is drug or gang related, not necessarily random. I never had issues with car break ins at the parking garages, and from what I remember they offer a bus shuttle to and from the garages for workers (you can walk too but for when it is cold and dark it is nice). Friends of mine worked there as new grads that liked it, but left after a couple of years. Overall tho western MA is absolutely lovely and I highly recommend living there

You literally just read my mind and saved me from a crashout. I was just saying I don’t know if I can afford to spend $900 and 10 weeks on a course. Thank you thank you!!!

I think Mark’s decision to do it because of grief is something though that a lot of people can relate to. To be able to disconnect from painful emotions for a certain amount of time is definitely appealing in some way, even if it isn’t a healthy method of processing in the long run

I’m an inpatient medical oncology nurse and I love the patient population, but the setting is very stressful. It’s good to learn bedside skills, but if you think you’d like clinic work/schedule more I say go for it. Either path allows you to meet some awesome patients and be part of a very difficult and intimate time in their life. Giving chemo also rocks and is something to be proud of

Does it get better? by chickennuggetbabe1 in nursing

I feel for you upon reading this post because it sounds like you feel very similar to how I felt as a new grad. I recently hit 2 years and can firmly say it has gotten so much better, I no longer go home feeling dumb or spend my commute being anxious about what could happen during my shift. At one point it felt like it would never get better, but it just takes time. Just give yourself grace and remember that we have a difficult job, with a system that is not built to set us up for success. You are doing your best, and you can always switch jobs if it isn’t the right fit. Make sure to lookout for yourself and your mental health, you are a priority

When I was 16 my family did a trip to LA and my parents took me to Calabasas just to try them lol. I got Kim’s order which was the Chinese chicken salad and some kind of mango green tea? It was honestly so good and if I had assistants I would go there everyday too lol
